On 7/13/25, my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with approximately 50,000 miles on it spontaneously caught fire as I was driving down the highway. The fire appeared to start in the engine compartment and very quickly moved to the entire front end of the vehicle. I pulled over on the side of the road and managed to safely exit the vehicle without physical injury. In minutes, the entire vehicle was consumed in flames. The fire department arrived within 10 minutes. When I departed the scene of the incident, fire fighters were still spraying water on the vehicle. After leaving the scene, I went to the hospital for psychological injury related to the incident. The investigation into the fire is currently underway. I do not have additional information about the cause or specific location of the fire. The vehicle is currently at a tow yard and is a total loss. It is nearly unrecognizable aside from the frame and a few components in the far rear. I am in the process of documenting all upgrades and modifications. Since it was fully built for off-roading and overlanding, it is a long and challenging task to take inventory of every part. Approximately 3 months before the incident, the vehicle was towed to a local CDJR dealership for a factory recall, where the entire fuel system was replaced. There were no other issues with the vehicle.

Had to take my 2020 wrangler in to have accessory battery replaced as it had drained my newly purchased battery and my car wouldn’t start. Repair shop replaced both batteries and about a week later the check engine light came on for about 2 minutes then went off so I chalked it up to the battery replacement. It didn’t come back on again until about 3 weeks later when I started feeling a slip when going in to second gear. When I got home after having that issue I noticed a small collection of what looked to me like transmission fluid on my garage floor so I had the car towed to the repair shop again. They informed me that engine oil was mixing with coolant due to a bad oil cooler. Between that diagnosis and my car completely breaking down and cracking my engine block the car was driven a total of 14 miles at the most. There was never any other signs prior to me taking it to the shop that the oil cooler had gone bad and even when they replaced the batteries no codes came up for the bad oil cooler and nobody noticed anything while working in the area. . Since then I have learned that this has been an ongoing issue with the wrangler since at least 2012 models and there has been several class action suits that were settled out of court I’m assuming so they don’t have to spend the money recalling and repairing every affected vehicle and finding a fix for future models. Meanwhile I have only had my car for 2 years as of last week and now am being charged $15000 $8000 of which I have to pay up front to even find out how long the parts needed will be on back order. Could be a week could be a year. Not to mention that I have no car to drive and a car payment to make while I wait. This needs to be fixed as these cars are overheating out of nowhere and shutting down when it does. It’s a safety issue as well as a consumer issue.

NHTSA Complaint Summary: 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Recall 24V-720 Overview: A complaint was filed with the NHTSA against FCA US LLC and Opelika Ford Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for failing to remedy a safety defect in a 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe under NHTSA Recall 24V-720, as required by the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. The vehicle has been inoperable for 83 days as of July 17, 2025, causing financial hardship and safety concerns. Issue Description: Recall Details: Recall 24V-720 addresses a high-voltage battery pack defect prone to separator damage, risking vehicle fires. FCA is obligated to reprogram the battery control module or replace the battery free of charge. Vehicle Status: Dropped off at the dealership on April 25, 2025, the vehicle remains unrepaired. The repair order is “pre-assigned,” with no technician assigned or parts ordered. Failed Repair Attempt: On May 9, 2025, the dealership claimed repairs were complete, but charging errors emerged immediately, confirming the defect persists. The vehicle is unsafe and unusable, with restrictions against charging or parking near structures. Failures by FCA and Dealership: Dealership Inaction: Limited testing and poor coordination with FCA’s STAR system have stalled repairs. FCA Oversight: Jeep Case Management demanded redundant documentation, despite the recall’s clear mandate. Communication has been sparse despite frequent follow-ups. Unpaid Reimbursements: FCA approved rental reimbursements, five invoices remain unpaid, including one approved on June 18, 2025, promised within 10-15 business days. Requested Resolution: Immediate Repair or Refund: Complete the recall repair or issue a full cash refund of the purchase price, rejecting FCA’s fair market value credit offer. NHTSA Investigation: Investigate FCA and the dealership for non-compliance with the recall mandate.

At approximately 36,600 miles, my 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sahara began experiencing a critical and recurring electrical malfunction. Upon attempting to start the vehicle: •All dashboard electronics power on, but the engine does not crank or start. •The brake pedal remains fully depressed and will not release. •The vehicle cannot be shut off by the ignition; the only way to power it down is by disconnecting the battery and fuse and waiting ~15 minutes. This issue renders the vehicle completely inoperable and has occurred multiple times. It began just 600 miles after the factory warranty expired (36,000 miles), and two dealership repair attempts have failed to resolve the issue. I’ve reviewed public NHTSA complaints and discovered that similar issues are being reported in 2023 Wranglers, including full power loss and no-start conditions. This issue is consistent with symptoms reported in the NHTSA’s July 2024 investigation into 2023–2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe models for electrical system failures. I believe this is part of a systemic electrical defect and poses a serious safety risk due to its sudden onset and inability to shut the vehicle down normally.

Have no ABS. The light for the ABS stays on. Unable to get a part because it is under an "engineer review". The failed part is the hydraulic control unit. My safety and the safety of others are at risk due to no having anti lock brakes in south Florida where the roads on constantly wet. This is clearly a known problem.

The front passenger seatbelt wasn’t working properly and we noticed the belt was frayed so we ordered a new one from car parts direct. Today while taking the old belt out we noticed that the seatbelt unit itself wasn’t bolted into the jeep. It was bolted off to the side causing it to be crooked which is why the belt frayed because the entire unit was not in properly. The bolt that should be holding it in is still in the jeep yet the seatbelt unit came out very easily and you can clearly see where the bolt was sitting. I will include photos.

I own a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN: [XXX] ) that has experienced multiple hybrid system failures since the week of purchase. Despite several major repairs, the issues persist — raising significant safety and reliability concerns. Timeline of Major Issues: •[XXX]: Just two days after purchase, the vehicle was brought into the shop for hybrid system failure, requiring replacement of the high-voltage wiring harness and electric cooling heater. •Shortly after, the check engine light returned (per service staff, likely another hybrid fault). I was unable to bring it in at the time, and the light later turned off on its own. •[XXX}: After overnight charging, the battery was dead and the vehicle wouldn’t start. My wife (a medical provider) had to leave work to assist, causing major disruptions to patient care, financial loss, and missed school for my son. •[XXX]: After another overnight charge, the vehicle again failed to start, with more difficulty getting it to run than before. •[XXX}: The vehicle was returned to the shop and required replacement of the hybrid powertrain chip and additional high-voltage wiring. These failures mirror the symptoms and component issues currently under investigation in Recall 95B, yet my VIN does not show any open recalls, and I was never notified of any hybrid system defect. My vehicle has experienced the same hazardous failures and received the same repairs as affected vehicles. I am submitting this complaint because I believe my vehicle was improperly excluded from safety-related notifications and may be affected by a known, systemic hybrid defect. I am requesting that NHTSA include this case in its ongoing investigation into Jeep 4xe hybrid propulsion failures. - #11674567July 18, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, STEERING, SUSPENSION
On [XXX] while driving my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport (VIN: [XXX] ), the braking system failed without warning while I was approaching a stop sign on a residential road. I pressed the brake pedal and felt extreme resistance and grinding, followed by a near-total lack of braking power. I was forced to abruptly swerve into an open driveway to avoid a collision. This sudden malfunction put my life and the safety of others at serious risk, especially had it occurred on a highway or near pedestrian traffic. The affected component appears to be part of the braking system—likely the master cylinder, brake booster, or brake line integrity—but a full diagnosis is pending inspection. There were no warning lights or messages displayed on the dashboard at any time prior to or during the failure. The vehicle gave no indication that a malfunction was imminent. Immediately after the incident, I parked the vehicle and did not attempt to drive it again. As of now, the issue has not yet been formally confirmed by a dealer, but I am in the process of getting it inspected by a certified independent mechanic, and I am willing to make the vehicle and its components available for inspection upon request. I also plan to provide documentation once the evaluation is complete. I only recently purchased this Jeep from Carvana a few months ago, and it is extremely concerning that such a critical failure could occur so soon. The vehicle has two completed recalls related to steering and rear windows, but none that address braking—making this unexpected failure even more alarming. I believe this could indicate a larger pattern or potential defect that has not yet been officially acknowledged or addressed. This event was dangerous and could have resulted in a serious accident. I am requesting that this complaint be formally investigated, and I am open to cooperating fully with NHTSA, Chrysler, or any affiliated parties in reviewing the failure and addressing issue. It started with the engine sounding louder then normal. Then a bad smell in the cab of the vehicle. Later found out it was a exhaust leak that was getting into the vehicle causing headaches and other symptoms of carbon monoxide. Also note the burn marks around the broken bracket that could cause a fire if not mechanically inclined to notice. Not check engine light for this. But when I spoke to the dealership it wasn't new to them. Apparently this has happened to alot of the ecodiesel jeep and gladiators. A common problem that should be resolved before and life threatening injuries result in loss of consciousness or fire.

The engine blew while I was driving on the highway without warning. Several repairs since January and have had the car at just 2 years. Maintenance has been kept. Dealership replaced radiator, head gasket repair, etc. since just February. Car was towed to dealership. 2 holes in engine at the bottom. Dealership claims they don't know why. After researching this particular engine and car, I feel that vehicle has a lot of issues. I don't feel that it is safe. I think a safety recall should be considered.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle decelerated unintendedly and failed to exceed 40 MPH. Additionally, the vehicle lost power steering functionality and became difficult to steer. The contact stated that the vehicle later operated as needed; however, the failure recurred several times while driving. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 111,000.

TIPM failure. Recall 07V291000 My vehicle (2007 Jeep Wrangler) is not included in the recall, although it was recalled for this model. Car suddenly had a variety of bizarre electrical malfunctions including wipers acting on their own, difficulty starting, and stalling while driving. Mechanic inspection ($150) Also contirmed that it is the TIPM. The vehicle is too dangerous to drive before the TIPM is replaced.

I've had the Electric Coolant Heater Module (ECH) replaced three times in under three months, and had to pay $853 the last time for a wiring harness connector that the dealership & Jeep said was not covered under the warranty. I couldn't continue to safely drive the vehicle with a Check Engine Light on given the other reported problems with the 4xe Hybrid Battery system so I had no choice but to pay for the part out of pocket, even though the item the connector was attached to was deemed to be covered by the 100,000 miles hybrid system warranty.

Vehicle abruptly lost all power while driving, multiple panel lights, turtle mode. Twice now, first time at an intersection (April 10, 2025), second time on street in front of my house after pulling out of driveway. Loss of power steering, insufficient power to get back up driveway to garage. Towed both times. First time spent 18 days at dealer, "multiple DTC codes", no definitive diagnosis. Back at dealer now for past 11 days, no diagnosis yet. Could easily have been life-threatening situation if occured while driving on freeway or at speed. Apparently known problem with these Jeep HEVs.

On a trip on 7/3/2025 out of state the engine failed due to a blown head gasket , which is the third engine related problem I have experienced . Other issues include: Broken exhaust valve spring, cracked oil filter housing. With being the original owner and having only 84,000 miles I feel this has to be an issue Jeep is having with my engine 3.6 Liter V6. I am lodging a formal complaint to hopefully, have help with the $11,000 quoted price to replace my engine. Thank you

The ABS Pump Module on Jeep Wranglers are not working and Stellantis/Wrangler has stopped making replacement parts. If you look on [XXX] you can see that this is a nationwide issue and impacts Wrangler models spanning over several years (so far I've seen from 2014-2019). I've been trying to get the part for over a year to no avail. Also, the part is tied to the vehicle's VIN number, so you cannot use one from another Jeep (for example one from a junk yard). The safety issue is that the automatic braking system does not work properly. My Jeep also fishtails when driving in the rain. There are warning lights on the dash, which come on and off randomly. Mine do not stay on permanently. Initially, I tried to get this part replaced at a Firestone in CA, and then tried again at a mechanic in TX. Both told me the same thing, that the part is unavailable, no longer being made and that it is a national issue. A recall has not been issued either.
