Was driving on the highway and the check engine lights came on and a warning to shift to park. Shifted to park and restarted the vehicle to get myself out of the road and the check engine light remained on. From several posts on the Jeep 4xe Facebook group, looks like related to a recent over-the-air update which mine completed an hour before. The Jeep just died in the middle of the highway….

We’ve experienced multiple ongoing issues with this vehicle, and the dealership’s only suggestion so far has been to file a lemon law claim. Last month, the car began jerking excessively while driving typically at speeds between 35–45 mph. The best way to describe it is that it feels as though all the wheels lock up at once, causing a loud tire-screeching noise. It was a frightening experience. The dealership claimed to have resolved the issue with a “software update.” However, just last night, my wife was stranded on the highway when the car suddenly started shutting down mid-drive, similar to what happens when a vehicle runs out of gas. The maximum speed she could reach was about 20 mph, and the check engine light came on. She switched from hybrid mode to eSave (gas-only mode), which allowed her to get home safely. This morning, she tested it again. The check engine light was initially off, but after a short drive, it came back on and the vehicle started shutting down again. This Jeep is a lease, and despite being in the shop five times three of those for a full week the dealership continues to “service” it without providing a real solution. We are extremely concerned about the vehicle’s safety and reliability at this point.

This issue happens after an update on the car. Within 10 minutes after the car update the engine light came on and the car shut down on the road completely unable to drive . Without a warning, car stop to a complete shutdown while driving. My safety was at risk 5 times almost got into a car accident due to this issue where the car completely stopped while driving. Steering wheel completely locks when the car shuts down.

Update happened to Uconnect on October 10th. The vehicle now shuts off every 1/2 mile. When this happens all power is lost and vehicle states to put bricked in park.

My vehicle prompted me to update my UCONNECT software around 540pm last night as I went tminto class. Upon leaving class around 845pm, I expierenced a complete loss of power, many dash indicator lights came on, and the vehicle message appeared indicating the vehicle needed to be put into Park. This all occurred while driving at about 40mph. I have never had any issues with the vehicle before this.

OTS update today on 10-10-25 on my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4XE caused my Jeep to stall/die about a mile from my house losing all engine/motor power and my Drive selector D to begin flashing. I had to put my Jeep in park in a busy intersection narrowly being hit several times by oncoming traffic. I had to put in park and shut the Jeep completely off, then back on and finally after reboot, could put in drive to safely get out of the intersection. My check engine light is now on and I have zero trust in my Jeep and know it is EXTREMELY dangerous to safely drive. When all traffic was gone, I made it home, but engine light is on, and radio display that shows icons are all missing, and screen is flashing and changing screen sizes. Jeep is not drivable.

A software update for the Uconnext system was pushed to the vehicle and accepted. Immediately after the car said the system was updated, the vehicle engine stopped completely, and the whole dashboard shut down. Restarted the car, but this repeated several times in a very short distance. The “D” was blinking in the transmission. It was barely possible to pull the vehicle over, as all power was lost. After some time stopped and waiting for a tow truck, driver pushed the factory reset button to reset the system. After factory reset, the car operated normally.

Car engine cut off completely 3 separate times during a short 1.2 mile trip through neighborhood (20-25mph). Car prompted me to put car in park and start engine. I had to coast to side of road, stop, park, then restart engine each time. 30 seconds between each start/failure. Scary!! Car had 80% hybrid battery charge before I left the house. Infotainment prompted me for an OTA update earlier in the day - coincidence?? Check engine light turned on. OBD2 fault code P1e1d. I've owned the car for 2.5 months with no prior issues.

After a software update tonight, the jeep shut down while driving, loosing all power, and indicating to shift the vehicle to park. after that restarted the vehicle and got CEL code P1E1D and the vehicle went into limp mode.

I parked to go into the grocery store and a message popped ip about an update. I clicked update now and the screen went black and the vehicle shut off. I left the store and in the middle of the road the whole jeep lunged forward and shut off. It said to go into park and turn on the vehicle. I drive slow home and my husband tried to take a look and drove it around our complex and it did the same to him and would not allow him to go over 15 miles an hour and that was pedal to the floor. It is now parked in our complex away from other cars as I’m in fear it might ignite as that is a popular issue with the 4xe. I have had the radio replaced due to a malfunction and it was warranty. I fear there is an electrical malfunction.

The car got a uconnect update tonight. 30 minutes later, when driving the car for the first time since the update, the car shut off while in drive going 30mph. The car loses power, tells you to shift to park. Turning the car off and on enabled it to drive for a while longer, but the same thing happened again. The check engine light is on, and it's giving a number of code errors around the hybrid controller.

I was driving my 2021 Jeep wrangler and it started running poorly. I was near the dealership. I called them and told them I was headed to them asap. (I was within 3 mile range). The car died in the middle of an intersection. I could not put the car in neutral to move it out of the way of traffic. I got a tow truck to bring it to the dealership. Where they told me that the coolant tube fasteners for my vehicle were gone, and that the engine was blown, including the pump. Elbow screws were missing for the vehicle and coolant was everywhere in my vehicle. My car has 46,000 miles on it. It has had every single oil change ,reported recall done and service request to complete completed.. It has been taken very well care of and has only been to this one dealership.. according to the dealership, it is not covered under my powertrain warranty, and that I must pay for the engine and other parts myself. Upon looking into this, I looked into the NHTSA and also the FCA for recalls on a 2021. I found that that my 2021 would have been recalled for recall number ZD8. Recall code is exactly what is wrong with my 2021 vehicle. I don’t know why they didn’t did not add my VIN number to it, but I am requesting that it be investigated to help me get this covered under warranty. I have contacted Chrysler currently they’re telling me that the engine is not available until November 17 at the earliest so at this time I am in a rental car that I am paying for.. I do believe that my VIN number for my vehicle should have been added and that it should be investigated for other owners of Jeep Wrangler 2021 and 2022 vehicles that possibly were not listed with their VIN numbers. Please help expedite. chrysler case # 94425835. Dealer code 45091 and customer number 81103. Thank you

SUSPENSION
The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds, the vehicle was violently shaking while driving over a bump in the road. The shaking eventually ceased after allowing the vehicle to coast to a slower speed. The failure occurred without warning and mostly occurred during the fall and winter months. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to the death wobble. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
