ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the digital display on the instrument cluster failed to illuminate some of the warning light features. The contact then stated that the digital display was dim, and the Infotainment system failed to adjust the settings. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the digital sensor was missing and needed to be repaired however, the contact stated that he was informed that the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.

Engine light comes on with a warning saying "Stop soon, Vehicle may shut off". A few times that light does not come on but the vehicle applied brakes while driving (5mph) on the road. Felt as if it put the parking brake on by itself. Engine light is still on now constantly saying to pull over. Dealer checked it out and re-grounded some wires but issue is still happening.

The vehicle was stopped at a light and the car shut off by itself. The electrical stayed on, but I had to put the vehicle in park, restart the car, and turn off the emergency brake that turned itself on. This incident happened twice so far for a 2022 compass bought in May 2022. The first time was around 3,000 miles in November 2022. The second time was around 9,300 miles on 03/05/23. Each time the vehicle almost caused an accident when the Jeep was stuck on a busy ramp. Will be booking an appointment with the dealership to have this documented.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that she was unable to turn off the vehicle after shifting to park. The contact stated that the “Shift to Park” warning light was illuminated. The contact called a tow truck company, and the driver disconnected both batteries to turn the vehicle off. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed with needing both batteries to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but experienced the failure a second time. The video of the second occurrence show no "low battery" warning so is the low battery alert malfunctioning, Bob Baker Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Fiat (5555 Car Country Dr, Carlsbad, CA 92008: (760) 268-9032) where the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the trunk latch electrical system was draining the batteries. The manufacture had been contacted but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was about 44,000.

Jeep compass immediately coolant overheat alert with no warning shutting off engine in the middle of driving. have to shut car off to restart right away and coolant level is fine. Has done this 3 times while driving once on highway. The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving 45-50 MPH, the vehicle shuddered inadvertently, the steering wheel seized, and the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the battery was replaced; however, the failure recurred while making a turn. The contact then shifted into park and turned off and restarted the vehicle until the vehicle responded as needed. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V907000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

While driving in 33 degree weather my Jeep Compass randomly shuts off flashing a high coolant temp on the dash. This has happened twice while operating on the roadway, one of which was in the middle of navigating a 4 way traffic light. My significant other is a licensed mechanic therefore all maintenance is always up to date. This vehicle isn’t low on antifreeze and is a significant safety threat to myself and my two children 3 and under.

Car has overheated and needed to be towed twice, the most recent being today. Car overheats suddenly and breaks down in unsafe locations including the interstate. The car has been to the dealership four times for engine problems with no fix. Check engine light comes on after car overheats.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The instrument cluster AND the display screen cannot be dimmed either manually or automatically. They are both in full brightness mode at all times. This creates a driving hazard at night because the lights are so bright that I cannot see other cars, the road or road signs as clearly as I should. I took my car to a jeep dealership and they told me it's a known issue but jeep currently has no fix for it. The dealership provided me with their internal publication regarding internal lights that are too dim but this is the opposite problem than what I have. I told this to the service tech but he did not provide a response. I have attached the document

Driving 65 MPH on highway - car shut off, high coolant temperature alert on , coolant temperature gauge pegged to top - lasted one second at most. Car seemed to restart itself, alert went away, temperature gauge dropped to normal - car seemed fine. Had I stalled I would have been rear ended for SURE! This happened once before but I was stopped at a light - same scenario.

The dash lighting and radio are not dimmable, nearly impossible to see in bright daylight. Radio flashes on and off. Freezes up. Screens and input changes intermittently. The lights are sometimes too dark to see at night and dimmer switches don't do anything. I have had numerous problems with the electrical issues with this vehicle. There needs to be an investigation or recall for these issues. They get fixed at the dealership, only to return. Lastly, the defroster won't turn off. Heat is directed through the defroster and rear center stack when only on floor mode. Dealer says they fixed it and operating normally, but it isn't. Just too many issues with this vehicle. Seems to all be electrical in nature.

since new collision avoidance/other safety features will just shut off was in for service several times to correct problem finally jeep got involved for latest software update 4 days later system failed again set up another appt with jeep/dealer unfortanetley vehicle was involved in collision with school bus prior to appointment. i could sometimes be able to turn system back on thru touch screen and sometimes would not allow function to be reset i had reset feature after last failure but it failed again and as previous just randomly while traveling had system been functioning as intended it would have avoided this collision

The contact stated that she was unable turn off or restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the TCM and BCM were replaced; however, the failure reoccurred 6 hours later. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who informed the contact that 69 diagnostic trouble codes were retrieved; however, the dealer informed the contact they could not repair the vehicle unless the failure occurred while test driving the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 63,800.

Over the past two days the engine on my 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk simply stopped and cut off as I was turning into intersections. Thankfully I was able to coast to the shoulder and put the Jeep into park to restart engine. This is such a dangerous issue, and I cannot even imagine it happening on a highway or merging lane going 65 mph. Scheduled an appointment for vehicle, and I noted that other Jeep Compass vehicles from 2018 had a recall due to cracked fuel pump issue, though it seems my particular VIN is not "part" of that recall. Maybe it needs to be. This is a very dangerous issue.

ENGINE
Driving at highway speeds today "high coolant temp" message appeared and vehicle lost power briefly, luckily not completely as I was in the far left lane with no shoulder to pull onto. I made my way to the right shoulder and realized my temp was just fine - just below 200 degrees - and vehicle operated normally the rest of the way to work. After giving it a google search and seeing all of the other complaints about this issue, I figured I better report my issue as well in an effort to get this looked into and resolved. Had my car completely shut off like so many of the other complaints I've seen, there would have been an interstate pile up with me at the bottom.
