my 2022 jeep compass trailhawk, pedestrian warn and braking shuts it's self off every day. as does my front collision warning and braking and i have to keep turning it back on. since i only don't always notice the warning light on the dash this is really bad. Yesterday while on a 250 mile trip. all of it stopped working after i stopped for gas for over 150 miles of my trip as did the cruise control and and lane departure system and steering assist. thankfully i have only drive the Keep 2200 miles and am not used to relying critical safety features.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact then stated that her daughter’s friend inspected under the hood of the vehicle; however, the contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to O’Reilly’s where the failure could not be duplicated; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. No warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 124,958.

When turning key stalling to start car. Finally car wouldn’t start and I went to auto services and they said I probably needed a new battery. So I purchased a new battery. Now it’s about two months later and car is hesitating/stalling to start again as I try crank the car up.

Engine shut down in an intersection due to “high coolant temperature” This was a false error and almost caused me to get into an accident. Once I could get power back, I moved over the the side of the road and inspected my coolant further. There were no leaks and reservoir had adequate pressure and fluid. Coolant temps read regular. I continued to drive to work while monitoring the digital coolant temps. The temperature fluctuated between 192 and 198. I reached my destination safely, but following this event, I do not feel this vehicle is safe to drive. Vehicle is up to date on maintenance and has 34k on the odometer

We were stopped at a traffic light, began to move when the driver instrument display went red, said coolant was high, the car stalled, and we were hit from behind by another SUV. After we were able to restart it, the display returned to normal. We waited for the police to arrive, got an accident report and now the car is at the dealer. Also, before that the radio display was acting up with lines in i like a bad television then it would shut off. The dealer says it needs a new radio (on a 4-year-old Jeep), and they want to apply updates that SHOULD fix the issue.

dashboard message stating “High Coolant Temperature” while driving on highway. I had to stop on the shoulder of the highway after seeing a warning that the vehicle would soon shut off. I was driving the car with my child and the situation was very tense. I had to park the car on the shoulder of highway and wait for it to settle down. This actually threatened the lives of me and my child.

While driving vehicle, warning lights came on stating "Stop Safely Vehicle will shut off soon". There was no other indication of any issue with the vehicle. The engine then shut off in the middle of the road with no power steering or any other features. Safety was put at risk not being able to control vehicle while driving in the middle of the road. Vehicle restarted 10 minutes later with no issue. Warning light issue repeated itself a week later.

My name is [XXX] DL #[XXX], I live in Detroit Michigan 48219, About August 2022 I purchased a used 2018 Jeep Compass. About late November 2022 I was driving on the drive free way and the I got a quick dashboard reading High coolant Temperature and the vehicle started slowing down, I push the gas pedal and the car, accelerate it. I truly thought I did not have any radiator fluid in the radiator so I put the gas station and brought radiator fluid and put it into the vehicle. In December 2022 I was coming from basketball practice in the evening with a cold evening and I had the heat up in the ventilation of both up to high and I got to a stop sign the car * at the stop sign. From that point it had to be towed to a dealership Feldman Chevrolet in Livonia Michigan after three days in the shop I was told that there was nothing wrong but the vehicle needed a new battery. I had no issue with the vehicle [XXX] summer of 2022 since the winter of 2023 the vehicle have stopped on me three times with the same high coolant temperature too high, showing up on the dashboard engine shut down momentarily after I put my foot on the gas pedal again. It continues to drive, I notice it only happens when my heater is on and my temperature is high and my fan is hot inside the vehicle the last time wise about March 7, 2023. Vehicle will not switch to night mode for interior dash and infotainment system display. The center touch screen unit has already been replaced for a separate problems of it turning itself off and staying black with no access to touch screen controls. The option to adjust the night settings is greyed out, so it cannot be selected to adjust. Daytime setting has to be adjusted to lowest setting and is still extremely bright while driving at night. I have had this vehicle into the dealership several times for this issue, the last time the service manager had to drive the vehicle at night to "duplicate" the problem. I had to go to the dealership, sit in the car and show him exactly what was going on. It is very difficult to drive at night with bright dash and center display lights. I have reported this as a safety issue several times in writing. I was told Jeep is working on a fix for this problem, but it has been several months now, with no fix. I email weekly for an update.

The Compass has been stuck in “night mode,” cannot adjust the navigation panel or more importantly, the dashboard. I cannot see the dashboard in daylight, not able to see mph, any warnings etc. I see there is a recall but my car is not listed. I took it to the dealer in mid March 2023 and they said there was nothing they could do. Please help! I purchased this vehicle used and the issue was present.

What component or system failure or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? When I started my vehicle I noticed that my navigation screen was black, and then when I put the vehicle in drive and slowed down to make a turn, the engine shut off while I was driving. I had to restart the vehicle, and I put the vehicle in drive, I made left the engine shut off again a second time. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety was put at risk because the vehicle was still in driving mode, luckily there were no cars behind me. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not yet, I will be reporting this, because I do not feel safe. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? Not yet. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, my navigation screen was black, and that has never happened before.

My instrument cluster has went dark. It stays in dark mode during the day. I am unable to visually see my speed while I’m driving. My AEB system is also having issues. I have tried to remedy this at the dealership, but they say there is no resolution.

I purchased a brand new 2022 Jeep Compass and used the adaptive cruise control while driving to an appointment, immediately after the purchase. 15 miles later, one-by-one the car's system warnings started lighting up and beeping. I came to a stop light so thought to restart the car while waiting for the light to turn green. I shifted the car to park and tried to turn off the car but it wouldn't shut off. So I tried to put it back into drive but the shift wouldn't move. I called Chrysler Roadside Service and Fire and Rescue showed up and had to manually force the car into neutral to push my car to the side of the road. Meanwhile the battery also died because though I couldn't move the car, the air and radio remained working. In total I waited 3 hours for the tow truck in McLean, VA, an urban city.

My dash and radio can’t decipher when it’s night or day. Screen is dark during the day and I can’t see how fast I’m going or where I’m going. It was working fine for about three weeks into me having the car. Now it doesn’t work I just purchase this car. Problem has been confirmed by a dealer. The problem happened on February 25, 2023.
