SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
While driving down the road, all doors closed, and with the lift gate closed the Jeep Compass' Emergency Parking Break is engaging at random. Shortly before it does this the vehicle loses ability to accelerate. A quick google search has yielded many hits on many Jeep Compass and Jeep Cherokee owners from years ranging from 2014 to 2020 having the same problem and Jeep refusing to acknowledge or fix the issue. This is a serious safety concern that is going to get people killed.

The contact’s wife owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact state that upon start up, the instrument panel was illuminated and visible; however, once the START/STOP button was depressed, the instrument panel displayed dimmed. The contact then stated that after the vehicle was shifted into reverse(R), the instrument panel illuminated and displayed visibly; however, once shifted into drive (D), the instrument panel displayed dimmed. The contact stated that he was concerned for his wife’s safety with the inability to see critical information on the instrument panel. An undisclosed dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the failure was not a safety concern and an appointment was scheduled for a later month. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

The Jeep has been in the service department since March 2023. The vehicles system malfunctions while driving and shuts down. The ability to drive to safety is not available. This has happened to me twice while driving on the hwy with my SPECIAL NEEDS daughter in the car.

I just purchased a 2018 Jeep Compass Limited and the car shuts off unexpectedly while driving. This is a serious safety hazard as the car gives no warning. Someone is going to get killed! The car just shuts off in the middle of driving.I was afraid to drive after two shut downs in the same day, I had car towed to the dealer. Please have these cars recalled! HELP!

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The interior displays, instrument panel, and touch screen are stuck in bright day mode. The dimmer switch in the dash will not respond or change the brightness but still turns the overhead lights on and off. At night this causes blinding conditions and a glare on the windows decreasing visibility. The issue is to be investigated by the dealer, there was a wait to get it checked. There are no warning lights and the vehicle may be inspected at any time.

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 MPH, a low oil pressure warning light illuminated intermittently, and the gears failed to shift as designed. The contact also stated that the front of the vehicle was shaking, causing an abnormal sound. The vehicle was taken to a dealer the low oil pressure sensor was replaced. After the repair, the failure reoccurred and the vehicle was taken to another dealer, Harr Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (110 Gold Star Blvd, Worcester, MA 01606) where the service tech was unable to determine the cause of the failure. I had just got back from a trip where my Jeep Compass ran perfectly fine. I had to go to work the next morning and my Jeep would not start. A warning came on that said "coolant temperature to high" and would not let me start my car. Keep in mind that the car had not even been running to have a high temperature. The engine would not turn over and the power steering locked up. This came without warning and I had no signs that something was about to happen. I have read that this has been occurring since 2021 and I wanted to add to the complaints of how dangerous this could be if my engine would have locked up and shutdown while driving on the highway like others have reported. The battery and auxiliary battery are not even two years old. This issue seems like it needs to be investigated more even though a investigation was opened up in 2022 and it is now 2023 and I have note seen anything from it.

During night driving, the instrument cluster does not dim, staying bright and I am unable to manually lower the brightness, this produces a glare around the car which makes it extremely difficult to drive at night, I have also had instances where the instrument cluster dims during the day for a brief period of time where I can hardly read my current speed, then it returns to being bright after a few moments. I have not taken the car into Jeep for service yet but have an appointment scheduled.

Every morning the instrument panel and the radio/navigation screen are very dark. All of a sudden it will turn on. Sometimes a mile down the road and sometimes 5 miles down the road. Sometimes it never turns on. If I need to use the gps/navigation directions this is a big issue as I cannot see the screen. I cannot see the gas guage or instrument warnings. I cannot see the spedometer.

The contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2019 Jeep Compass. The owner was unable to start the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The owner was able to start the vehicle after a jumpstart. The owner took the vehicle to the location where she purchased the vehicle, where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, on May 1, 2023, the vehicle continued to experience the failure. The owner took the vehicle back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the auxiliary battery and starter to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, on June 24, 2023, the vehicle continued to experience failure. The contact stated that while the owner was driving and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to exceed 30 MPH. The owner towed the vehicle back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the spark plugs and coils to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted.
