The car would shake and jump when starting from a stop or going up hills , also feels like it’s slipping when shifting gears will not shift when going up large hills or when on Highway and passing if it needed to change gears it would slip.I called Ford dealer told them same info they said my car is not under recall , well it needed to be , I took the car to trans shop he pulled a code of Transmission Friction element a stuck on. (Tans needs repair most likely clutches,He said take it to ford , I called ford they were backed up months in advance, and acted like they had never heard of this .I called Ford Motor company told them about issue , same response never heard of it and no recalls . Took the vehicle back to dealer I purchased it from and traded it for a different brand car , just wanted you to know Ford that’s wrong! I panicked and took the car to be traded in.I hope they don’t try to sell that car like that , I was not about to let my child drive that car one more day so I took it to the thieves that sold it to me and gifted it back to them.if you have a 2016 Ford Focus and it gets 80k miles like mine was your just screwed!Ford needs to fix these cars I’ll never trust Ford again.

The first time, the contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer; the second failure, the contact was able to slowly drive the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer replaced the transmission fork on the first visit and updated the PCM software on the second; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure but offered no assistance. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V845000 (Power Train). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

I have read multiple reports on ford focus from 2012 and newer having the same issue as me. I was driving one day and the car started to rev, shake and drastically slowed down then the check engine light came on as I was almost rear ended. I took an obd reader and got code P07A5 came back to transmission friction element B stuck on. I Have found I’m not the only one with this issue I feel ford should be responsible to fix this problem before someone gets hurt or killed from the car just at random not wanting to go and shake violently. My car only has 89,000 miles for a 2015 it shouldn’t be having this kind of problem already.

My clutch causes the car to stutter when accelerating. My focus has already had a clutch replacement under warranty. I am now at 76k miles and my car has started stuttering again.

Traveling 30-35 mph, car jerked 5-6 times. Approximately 1/8 mile further got in to the middle turn lane and started to turn when car stalled in the middle of the road. Was able to coast into driveway and then I was able to restart car. Check engine light came on and has stayed on. Auto on/off switch was engaged but did not turn off vehicle at stop sign, where I waited to pull out, directly preceding stalling incident. Mechanic pulled the code p1450 for 'unable to bleed up fuel tank vacuum' and also a purge valve issue. I believe both of these issues have been recall items on the Focus but for a 2.0 liter not the 1.0 liter that my vehicle is. I find this issue extremely dangerous & unacceptable that it is not a recall on my car too. I will fix asap as I am scared to drive it now especially on the freeway.

I have been having nothing but problems with my Ford Focus transmission. And it’s 2016. I’ve only had it for about 4 years and it’s not working again. Ford said it was the clutch.

My car has been giving me problems from the start. i had to get a new fuel pump and a new clutch at 75,000 miles because my fuel pump was bad and my clutch fractured (Which some 2017 ford focus' have been recalled for this issue, but supposedly mine doesn't have any recalls). I have always done routine maintenance on this car. Now at 91,000 miles my engine has blown up. I was driving and my oil light started to blink and within seconds my car had totally lost its power. This is very unsafe to happen while driving, especially uphill.

The contact’s mother owns a 2018 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle started shaking abnormally while coming to a stop. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the TCM (Transmission Control Module) was faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed by the dealer that the part was not available for the repair. An aftermarket replacement part was ordered to facilitate the repair; however, after installing the part, it failed to fix the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.

If u have issues with your power steering in Ford focus why not change them all??!! Sent it to a shop and the quoted price to fix is insane. I have to pay for a faulty electrical power steering pump.and the curb I hit damaged the wheels..OMG this has to be illegal.. never..EVER BUYING A FORD AGAIN AND I WILL NOT LET MY FAMILY MEMBERS BUY EITHER. I believe it was the fuel system that failed. The safety of myself, my child, and other drivers was at risk. The Ford dealer I spoke to said my vehichle is not affected by the recall that causes this issue (18S32). The auto center I took the car to could not reproduce the incident. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance. The check engine light was on at the time of the incident. I was at a stop at an intersection. When I was ready to proceed, I pressed the accelerator and the engine died. Pressing the gas did nothing. I was partially through the intersection where cross traffic does not stop when this happened. I turned the car off and back on and was able to get the car moving. This happened twice that night. The auto shop checked for error codes and found the following: P1450 No DTC definition found, P2195 O2 sensor signal biased, and P0507 Idle air control system revolutions per minute higher than expected. The auto center suggested I take the car back to the dealer for inspection as they can not diagnose. I fear for my family's safety while driving. I feel this problem is caused by the excessive vacuum in fuel vapor management system (Recall 18S32).

The check engine light came on a week and a half ago and after having someone do a diagnostic test it sent a code saying an emissions leak somewhere. The car will sputter and sometimes will not restart after fueling and has to be revved up a bit to get it going. The scary part is when it starts to sputter when at an intersection. I called the dealership that I bought this ford focus brand new in 2018 which has 20,000 miles now and the girl answering phones at Brandon Ford Tampa Fl. said my car would not be covered for my problem under warranty. I did not know until just checking online that this was actually one of 2 recall problems with the 2018 ford focus models. Would expect a little more from what is supposed to be the number one ford dealer in the south. I was blown off. Doubt my next new car will be a ford but I am waiting to hear back from you to see if I have any recourse here. Thanks for your time. I was driving my vehicle home from a friend's house, and just as I was turning into my parking spot, I got a notification in regard to my transmission needing to be serviced. I believe my transmission light was currently on, because I have recently gotten an oil change and that didn't seem to be the problem. I've experienced issues with the vehicle after i put gas in the car. When I go to start it back up, it stalls or acts as if it wants to start, but then just doesn't. After a few moments I go to start the vehicle again and in most cases this seems to be effective for the time being. There was also a notification that stated my transmission was hot, and that I should pull over safely.

After starting the vehicle I had no power steering. I drove the car all the way home with no power steering. I shut down the car at home and restarted it and then the power steering worked. I’m very worried about others in my family driving this car and having an accident. This has happened in the past but after moving the car it would start working but not this time. I haven’t taken it to any dealer yet but I think Ford should fix this problem

Power steering went completely out while driving. No accidents occurred but I almost drove off the road due to not being able to control steering wheel. Warning screen on dash notified me after power steering went out.. Took vehicle to my local Ford dealership for diagnosis; code U3000. Steering gear assembly was bad. Vehicle had 64,352 miles on it at the time.
