The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the entire fuel system needed to be replaced due to the high-pressure fuel pump exploding after metal shavings were found throughout the entire system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 77,000.

While driving with a trailer after leaving a jobsite in [XXX] , the vehicle experienced a sudden electrical failure while in motion. The instrument cluster/speedometer screen went completely black and the vehicle lights stopped functioning properly while driving at night. During the incident, we lost the speedometer display and visibility from the vehicle lighting system, creating a serious safety hazard while towing a trailer on public roads. Because of the electrical failure, we were forced to pull off on the side of the road to avoid a potentially dangerous situation. After shutting the truck down and waiting approximately one hour, the vehicle was restarted and the systems eventually began functioning again. This vehicle is used regularly for commercial towing and jobsite operations. A sudden loss of instrument display, lighting systems, and electrical functionality while towing creates a major safety concern for both the occupants of the vehicle and surrounding traffic. The failure appeared intermittent because the vehicle resumed operation after sitting for a period of time. However, the incident involved complete loss of critical vehicle display and lighting systems while driving. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. While driving my truck under normal conditions and using the turn signals as expected, I noticed an issue after parking in my driveway. The turn signals began activating automatically without any driver input, alternating from left to right approximately every 5 seconds. The behavior stopped once I manually engaged the turn signal lever. It has been 3 years of our ABS failing due to a Brake HCU not being replaced. Now the engine light comes on due to issues with the Electronic Braking System. We cannot use this to travel due to the cruise control going out as soon as the ABS light goes on which is every 5 minutes. Why is this allowed to be on recall but ‘ no fix has been determined’?!!!! We need answers.

Antilock brake module failure.This is my second complaint for my Ram Truck HCU ABS under recall 24V-896. My dash indicator for ABS has been on and off now for over six months. My other complaint number was 11700373 I guess I just keep driving my truck without antilock brakes. This safety recall was issued Sept 2024 and there is still No parts available. Sounds like the company is waiting for my truck to rust out so they don't have to pay for the repair.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V826000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); and the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the instrument panel software update was completed; however, the instrument panel became inoperable after the update was completed. The dealer determined that the instrument panel needed to be replaced; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer informed the contact that the estimated time for availability was May 11, 2026. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unavailable.

The contact stated that while driving on a local roadway and descending a hill, the vehicle unexpectedly shifted out of gear, and the contact temporarily lost control of the vehicle, which then independently accelerated. The contact subsequently regained control of the vehicle. Additionally, the ABS was inoperable during the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

The issue involves the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and hydraulic control unit on our 2017 Ram 3500. The recall states that the ABS module/hydraulic control unit may fail, which can impact braking performance and disable safety systems. The component has not been repaired because parts have been unavailable for over three years. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This defect creates a serious safety risk. The vehicle is primarily used to tow livestock, including horses, and loss or reduction of braking capability while towing could result in loss of control, increased stopping distance, or an accident involving occupants, other drivers, or transported animals. The problem has been confirmed by authorized Ram dealerships in Chehalis, Washington and Eureka, California. Both dealerships, as well as Ram customer care, have acknowledged the open recall and stated that no parts are available to complete the repair. The vehicle has not been physically inspected by the manufacturer for repair because no remedy has been available. It has not been involved in an accident related to this issue. Prior to the recall, there were no known warning messages or confirmed failures observed. However, the recall itself indicates a potential failure of the ABS system and braking components, which may occur without warning. The recall has remained unresolved for an unreasonable amount of time. The manufacturer has failed to provide a remedy for this safety-related defect within a reasonable time.

Vehicle at dealership a third time for same issue relating to U1412 code associated with ABS system. First time it was towed on 1/19/2026 and second time I took it to the dealership before it required towing on 3/26/2026. This time the truck required towing again after not being able to go into gear or being able to turn it off. Multiple warning lights on the dash. Still waiting for diagnosis but service department knew this problem from other vehicles and said manufacturer isn’t sure of cause.

Second incident relating to U1412 code where ABS related warning lights coming on. On 1/19/26 it had the same issue but was towed due to undriveable and would turn off. This time I drove straight to Dodge dealership where they got the codes, unlike last time due to batteries dead. Ram performed two flash updates and felt issue was fixed. Car is currently at dealership for third incident of same nature and had to be towed exactly same as first time on 1/19/26. Towed in on 4/16/2026. Three times when new truck less than 6 months old and 10k miles. Unsafe as mentioned on other report.

This is related to the 2025/2026 Ram 3500 U1412 code relating to anti lock brake system. On this date I got an ABS warning light and check engine light. The vehicle would not turn off, was not sure if it was in gear or not, and multiple other lights came on the dash. Vehicle towed to dealership. They said they could not reproduce the error and that all the codes disappeared due to the batteries dying overnight. They replaced both batteries and returned vehicle. Have since had same problem twice more with one requiring towing again. If this problem happens on roadway while being operated it would be very dangerous on roadway.

POWER TRAIN
While travelling in Southern California, I came to a stop to enter I8 on ramp. When I tried to start down the on ramp the truck didn’t want to move and a check engine light came on. The truck went into limp mode so would travel slowly along. I called Mango Auto who could diagnose it the following morning. I did not make it to the shop before the transmission failed completely and the truck wouldn’t move leaving me in traffic in a dangerous spot. Eventually I was towed to the shop in Yuma AZ. They diagnosed it as a complete transmission failure requiring a $10,000 replacement. FCA has issued an extended warranty, but my mileage is 16700 miles over. FCA has a technical bulletin on the issue with the Austin transmission, but has not but should have issued a recall. This failure To issue a recall left me stuck in a dangerous situation and could have resulted in a crash.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rear-view camera or the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V398000 (Back Over Prevention). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine made abnormal knocking and ticking sounds. The knocking and ticking sounds became louder while accelerating. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the piston had ingested the grid heater nut. The mechanic replaced the piston, cylinder head assembly, gaskets, rod, gasket intake, Hamilton flat tappet conversion kit, and XDP grid heater. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,745.
