VISIBILITY/WIPER
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH during the rain, the windshield wipers suddenly failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the park switch wiring had failed. The wiring was replaced; however, the failure remained. The dealer determined that the Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) had failed and DTC: B2303/11; was retrieved. The contact stated that the VCM was repaired; however, the failure remained. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 161,000.

SCCM Internal failure that the dealer is calling an Air Bag Clock Spring failure. Safety Recall 33B and 14B already exist for my make and year of vehicle, but do not cover my VIN. The turn signal gets stuck leading to a hazard for the operator and those around.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
I powered on the truck. Upon ignition check engine light, along with ABS, 4WD, traction control came on. Lights for the forward collision and adaptive cruise control illuminated. ABS system in the truck is no longer functioning causing the brake pedal to pulsate and lose pressure. Dealer diagnosed the troubleshooting codes and determined the ABS and the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) need to be replaced.

TIRES
Nexen LT235/80R17 2 blow out's and one tire failure. factory installed tires. I have had 2 blowouts on the right front of my Ram 3500. I had discount tire unmount and re mount my spare on the blown-out tire wheel (for appearance purpose) so my spare is now another brand, the spare Nexen that replaced the blow out also blew out within ~2000 miles. I took the vehicle to Walts Live Oak Ram to inspect the vehicle for a cause of 2 tires blowing in the same position on the vehicle, they also checked the alignment and found nothing. yesterday [XXX] pulling a trailer to Jacksonville I noticed about 50 miles into the trip a slight shudder in the steering wheel and I pressed on. On the return trip the shudder in the steering was substantially profound and the driver side view mirror was bouncing up and down, the passenger side was not, and my hands were getting numb, I slowed to 50 from 70mph and continued, the shuddering eased but was clearly still there. today I took the truck to discount tire Lake city Fla. and asked them to replace the Nexen as I felt it was failing from looking at the tire and running my hand along the tread it didnt feel normal and the tire was hot compared to the passenger side. I asked discount to spin the Nexen on the balancer and they did, it confirmed the tire was failing and was unable to be balanced. the new tire cured the problem. the truck today clocked 37k miles to give you some perspective on mileage and primary use is for towing trailers, 42' 5th wheel, 16' box or flatbed trailer. When applying the brakes when coming to a stop, just before the truck comes to a full stop the brakes grab and release. If I let off the brakes right before I stop it is way worst. This is a major concern for my safety and my family's safety.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving 40-45 MPH and hauling a 14-ft loaded trailer, the engine made an abnormally loud knocking sound. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the residence, where a mobile independent mechanic diagnosed that the grid heater nut had melted and entered cylinder #6. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the grid heater nut failure had caused catastrophic failure of the pistons, turbo charger, and engine. The dealer determined that the engine assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the repair could not be covered under warranty due to the mileage on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 112,700.

Vehicle displayed warnings: Service Antilock Brakes Service Electronic Stability Control Service Trailer Brake System The truck has only 4,650 miles on it. When this happens, the above systems do not work along with the 4 wheel drive system. When towing a heavy trailer, the loss of trailer brakes can easily cause an accident due to jackknifing of the trailer and greatly increased stopping distance. Loosing 4 wheel drive in snow or mud can cause an accident or getting stuck.

SEAT BELTS
The rear driver’s side and rear center seat belts no longer latch. When sliding the belt into the recepticle it fails to “click” or connect. The belt pulls right back out. It does not work at all, it is reproducible every time. The dealer will charge a lot of money to say that they ran diagnostics to tell me what is obvious, so I have not brought it in yet. This is a serious safety risk since the law requires passengers to wear seat belts for safety reasons and this basic safety equipment fails. The vehicle is less than 4 years old and the rear belts have not been used all the time as there were not always passengers. Also, there is no damage to them. I would like it fixed asap and believe the equipment is faulty since two of the three rear belts have failed.

SERVICE BRAKES
Trailer brake controler will report not connected when it is connected correctly. Systemm was tested and everything on the trailer is working properly. system was working corretly and suddenly stopped when on the interstate. Have had multiple shops look at the issue and no one can locate the issue. The radio/infotanment system will also disconnect radomly. Both act like a wire is lose. disconnect then reconnect and disconnect and reconnect, over and over. The radio disconnecting from the phone is an issue however not a safety concern like the trailer brake issue is. When I am pulling a 16,000 pound camper and the trailer brake stops that means I no longer have traler brakes and that can be an issue when stopping.

STEERING
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving on a main street at 10 MPH and attempting to make a turn, the vehicle experienced a loss of steering. The contact stated that the steering linkage had disconnected. The contact stated there was a clunking sound underneath the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that a bolt securing the steering rod to the steering linkage had detached. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering linkage had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed with the heated steering wheel feature activated, the steering wheel became extremely hot; making the vehicle difficult to maneuver because the contact was only able to hold the steering for several seconds while driving. The contact stated that the steering wheel was replaced a year prior due to a separate failure. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who observed that the steering wheel reached temperatures of more than 120-145 degrees. However, after consulting with the manufacturer, the dealer informed the contact that the feature was operating as intended and within specifications. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was unknown.

Emission system failure. Code P2459 Regeneration Frequency. Overheating of the DPF while stuck in regen cycle causes burning smell and diesel fumes in the cabin while driving. Suspected vehicle on fire. Date of incident 01/25/2025. Vehicle at dealership for repair 01/28/2025. Dealership repair unsuccessful following STAR approved process of elimination. Vehicle returned to dealer 02/18/2025 for same issue. Many customers with 2019-2022 diesel engines having same issue. No known fix according to dealership.
