I purchased vehicle new June 2018. On [XXX]. I had a Fault code of ABS brakes system and took to Mountain Valley motors Blue Ridge, Georgia for repair and replacement of hydraulic control unit. At that time the mileage 22,140. [XXX] had the same failure again and the fault code reading service ABS brake system. Took the truck to Jim Brown Dade city Florida for Repair with the fault, code reading, and replaced again the same hydraulic control unit for the brake system. Second replacement of same part. Mileage 31,482. [XXX] had the same reoccurring fault code service antilock brake system when red same problem replace hydraulic control unit for the ABS brake system. Had that repair done again and mileage 37,290. At that time they had stated a new hydraulic control part was available with part number ending in AB. Part installed 68143491AB. After returning home, approximately 120 miles later, I am having fault flash on dash screen again, saying to service ABS brake system and then disappears. I took the truck to the dealership Jim Brown. They connected their computer and said there was no codes to be read. I again had the same message flash up every day. The first time I started the vehicle and would disappear. I took the vehicle back to Jim Brown dealership. They read the code again with an additional approximate 140 miles, and no code appeared on the computer. I was told, then to just let the part fail. Is that putting me and my family in jeopardy possibly fatally by a manufacturer refusing to repair vehicle which has been a known issue before 2017 based on ram TSB advisories that I have in my possession, addressing the issue of the faulty ABS braking system. I have exhausted, all avenues with ram cares and ram dealership to. Please advise where I can go with this issue. ABS light came on at 13,000 miles and was repaired under warranty. At 27,000 miles (2.5 years later), ABS has failed again, code C-020, but vehicle is out of warranty. Contacted FCA and was told "sorry, its out of warranty, pay for it yourself and keep your receipts, just in case it goes to recall". This is a know safety issue as cruise control and traction control are also tied to the ABS. Driver distraction should also be mentioned due to the entirely random but frequent chimes going off due to ABS failure. When the truck was "repaired" the first time, the bad parts were replaced with identical parts, i.e. not a redesigned, more dependable part, but the same poor design as stock.

I was driving my family and the ABS light randomly popped on during a rain event and the vehicle had difficulty keeping traction. The vehicle was scanned and the code C002-01 was displayed meaning that the ABS module had issues. The vehicle has not been inspected, today, February 13th 2024 I reached out to Tacoma Dodge where the vehicle has previously been serviced to determine if this was a known issue since after a quick google it sounds like I am not the only one experiencing the issue. More digging pulled up a publication from Ram #S2005000004 which talks about the issue and parts being restricted. I also found an additional source that mentioned a class action lawsuit. I figured it was in my best interest and other owners who have experienced this issue to notify the NHTSA to assist with the investigation.

This issue is related to 2017 Ram 3500 truck with 6.7L Turbo Diesel motor: The warning lights for the ABS and the Cruise Control intermittently activate and there is an audible alarm ding noise along with them. This ABS warning light going off intermittently indicates that if a situation arises that requires the ABS system, it may not activate as designed. Which in turn could contribute to loss of control or accident with the vehicle. This problem has been confirmed by Villa Rica Auto in Villa Rica, GA. This vehicle has been inspected by Villa Rica Auto. They advised that the problem is with a defective HCU and that part is on back order with no ETA available. This problem first appeared a few days after buying the truck from Gravity Autos Atlanta. This truck was not involved in a crash.

The contact owns a 2018 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH with the cruise control engaged and towing a trailer, the vehicle drove over a bump in the roadway and the ABS warning light illuminated and the vehicle independently decelerated to 35 MPH. The accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but had become a recurring failure while driving over bumps in the roadway. The contact stated the failure persisted whether towing a trailer or not. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer replaced the ABS and ACU electrical control module. The vehicle was repaired, however the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE22012 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

P2609 code. Grid Heater Relay. A P2609 code indicates an issue with the intake air heater system voltage or performance and often means the grid heater bolt is failing and has lost its ability to conduct current. There is currently a recall for 2021-2023 models; NHTSA campaign number 23V060000 for the same issue. My truck has 50,972 miles on it.

The truck will continually flash an ABS and Electronic Break System (EBS) service light with alert ding. I replaced the ABS pump and it went away for a while and now it is back with no parts to be ordered to fix. This has become a known problem on all 2017-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks. This issue is ongoing and there is no rhyme or reason as to why it is happening. The only option is to replace the ABS hydraulic pump.

- #11570297February 6, 2024ENGINE
Truck broke engine while driving in downtown Atlanta, GA towing a trailer. After having a certified diesel mechanic diagnose the problem, it was discovered that the grid heater has malfunctioned causing it to melt a bolt and break off into the engine thus causing a total engine loss. After researching online and speaking with the mechanic, this is apparently a common problem that we were unaware of. Had we been informed, we could have been proactive in preserving the engine. What could have been a pretty cheap fix has turned into a $15-$20k dollar repair job and could’ve ended with us in a wreck had we not been able to exit the road in time. I’m aware that there are no current recalls on this particular VIN. However, I would like for you to investigate the problem further because it could save consumers a lot of money and possibly their life.

ABS brake warning lights are on and cruise control will not work. I was told by the dealer the module had to be replaced. This truck only has 34691 miles on it now and this problem started over a year ago. Dealer said this part was not available because of supply chain issues. I have several friends with the same 2017 or 18 truck and are having the same issue. Obviously this is a defective part and is a significant safety concern being the brake system on a heavy truck

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 3500. The contact stated that the gooseneck ball hitch failed to remain secured. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to dealer. The dealer confirmed the failure with the gooseneck ball hitch was related to the recall but did not replace the gooseneck ball hitch. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 18E028000 (Trailer Hitches) as a possible solution however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
