The contact owns a 2018 Ram 3500. The contact stated that the ABS hydraulic control unit was making an abnormal beeping noise. While driving at various speeds with the cruise control engaged, the system disengaged without warning. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and the contact was informed that the ABS system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who determined that the ABS and HCU control modules were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 587,000.

Vehicle began flashing abs light and traction control light. Took vehicle in for repair. Was told this is a known issue and they are unable to aquire parts until june 2024 currently January 2024. Drove on 1-25-24 light was off used the breaks and abs light came on and breaks locked up and continued to skid on the ice almost causing me to go threw a stop sign into a ditch.

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
3 yrs ago, took to dealership for light for electronic brake module, was told that the part was on backorder. Picked up truck and was told that they would let us know when part came in, have called and spoken to at least 11 different service reps and a managers (Dodge as well) over the last 3 years. They close the tickets after a certain amount of time and you have to explain yourself over and over and get the same answer, the part is on national backorder. Our warranty expired 10/2023, there is still no recall on our truck but other truck have a recall. I have tried and called the 1-800 number to get help with this matter and still we have a vehicle that we may cause injury to us or others. Please help!

STEERING
The contact owns 2016 Ram 3500. The contact became aware that the front passenger's side tires had been wearing out prematurely. The vehicle was taken to a tire shop, and the contact was informed that an alignment could not be performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that he would be referred to a specialist for assistance. The specialist called the contact and referred him to a dealer for assistance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact they could not perform an alignment because the steering linkage jam nut was previously welded to the adjuster sleeve under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering). The dealer determined that the drag link assembly needed to be replaced to perform the alignment of the vehicle. The dealer was awaiting manufacturer’s authorization on the drag link assembly replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.

Abs brake service light is on and off while driving or when hitting bumps or parked and applying the brakes.it intermediate on then off . This is a low miles vehicle and is used basically to tow from time to time.After doing my research this is a problem with the abs system malfunctioning. Haven reported to a dealer yet but research say these parts are in back order for long waiting periods.

The ABS and traction control lights keep chiming and flashing. This condition disables the cruise control as well and possibly the 4WD system. Parts aren’t available at this time from the dealership and after doing research, this seems to be a very common problem with the 2017-2018 Ram 2500/3500 models.

Continued intermittent ABS light and "service ABS System" message with annoying / distracting chime, Loss of ABS and traction control, I have had several instances when the braking of the truck has been affected and could have easily caused an accident. Between the braking issues and the constant distraction of the vehicle chiming and alerting of a system issue, this needs to be looked into. the number of complaints does not show the actual number of people that are having the same issues. I have talked with several other owners that have had the same issue and the dealership repaired them but not reporting anything.

The ABS and traction control lights come on intermittently on the dash and the message to check the brake system comes on alot. The ABS system doesn't work when the lights are on and they come on alot. This I believe is a safety issue since it came with an ABS system to keep from locking up the brakes when having to brake hard to avoid a collision.

POWER TRAIN
Vehicle will not go into park and shut off. I could not turn the engine off. Not having the ability to turn the motor off is a safety concern. This has progressed to where it says vehicle is not in park while vehicle is in drive and moving. The problem is intermittent and I have documented it with multiple pictures and videos and witness accounts but the dealer has not been able to reproduce the malfunction. The service representative has been helpful but has not been able to. The vehicle has not been inspected by the police or other independent representatives. The vehicle does not have any codes associated with it. This same exact series of malfuctions occurred on my 2016 Ram 2500 and the valve pack on the transmission failed and the vehicle would not move and eventually the transmission failed. Then the emission software would not extinguish the check engine light even though there were no issues. The dealer reinstalled the software and after less than 25 miles the same issue happened. I traded in the vehicle because Ram would not honor the warranty and I could not pass smog with a check engine light on and nothing wrong with the sensors or the output. Now I am having problems with the 3500 progressively going in the exact same way as the 2500. I have had to take it to the dealer 6 or 7 times in as many months and less than 10,000 miles.

When I was returning from a trip across town my "service electronic brake system " came on with a chime and then went out. This was followed by check "service brake system" which also went out. They stayed off for a few days and then did it again. This condition got more and more frequent. I took it to the dealer and was told that it needed a ABS control module. I felt this was very early for an ABS failure with only 30762 miles on the unit. I now have 48845 miles and the ABS light is coming on and off ( with it's chime ) even when I sit at a traffic light not moving and going down the road it is almost constant. I have read in the Ram forums that this is a common issue. I believe this to be a safety issue. Why have ABS if it's not going to work.

While driving, my "service electronic brake system" and "service antilock brake system" would come on and go off repeatedly. Other times, nothing would happen. Then it would come back on and stay on. Next time, nothing would come on. Shop states that it was antilock brake pump. He said that these are known to be bad but the part is backordered with no timeline available.

SERVICE BRAKES
Starting in May 2023 mu truck has experience intermittent ABS System errors and Service Electronic Braking System service messages. At many times the errors will repeatedly clear and reoccur, sometimes as frequently as once every second or two. Sometimes the error messages come on and remain so for long periods. When in an error state, the ABS system is not functional and the vehicle will not allow activation of cruise control. My RAM dealer has advised that, despite the fact that this issue has been ongoing with RAM trucks for over years, there are no parts available and ETA for a redesigned part has just been delayed 6 months to June 2024. This is a faulty safety system.
