I was driving along and without any notification the engine stopped running causing me to have to try to get the car off of the road. It would not start back up and I had to have it towed to my house.

Vehicle horn continues to stop working. Problem occurred within a month of purchase. I have had it repaired 3 times, and each time it has been repaired it works for only a few days and then stops working. I am tired of paying to have it fixed, only to work a few days. It has been a safety concern as I have not been able to alert pedestrians, other vehicles, or animals to my presence. Having a working horn is a required safety feature for my employment and driving on company property.

Engine failure while on the highway. There were no warnings or check engine lights. The mechanic at a local shop stated that the engine seized up. The car had received regular maintenance up to that point.

While traveling to work about 1 mile before my exit, my 2017 Santa Fe Sport Ultimate 2.0T started sputtering and losing speed. I was scared to death traveling on a major highway (Rt 1). I immediately put the emergency blinkers on while continuing to lose speed. I barely made it off the highway before the car just STOPPED DEAD on the curve. NO POWER STEERING-NOTHING! THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE! Terrified of tractor trailers and cars flying off the exit, I called the State Police to come as my protection from getting hit .While waiting, two Good Samaritans were concerned for my safety and stopped to help move the car partially out of the road (no steering). The state police arrived and waited while I got a tow truck seeing I was visibly upset. I later received a call from the auto shop telling me the engine was gone, The performed a compression test the next day, found no compression in cylinder 3. The mechanic suggested I tow the car to the dealer because it was a faulty engine and he knew of an extension on an extended warranty (from 100k-150K miles) Hyundai offered for this problem. I rented a car to go to work ($700) for the first 3 weeks because I couldn't get a loaner. I finally got a loaner after reaching out to Managers, and after 2 months they finally "worked" it in. Today, I get a message that it was indeed the engine and I would need to pay for the diagnostic test and new engine parts since the extended warranty I purchased when I bought my car was expired 9/8/23. I opened a case with Hyundai USA today 5/10/24, and will be speaking with the dealer on Monday but I'm at a loss. Hyundai should replace my engine considering these engines have a history of failing. It only has 103K miles on it. It was just in the shop a week before for the undercarriage coating, inspected and no major concerns. I ALMOST LOST MY LIFE WITH NO WARNING- ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! PLEASE HELP!!

Around three weeks ago, we start listening to a knocking noise in the engine. As soon as we heard this noise, we took it to a mechanic near our home and the mechanic told us that there was an internal problem with the engine and we needed to take it to an official Hyundai dealership to solve this problem. Moreover, they told me this is a common problem in Hyundai's cars and the dealership would do it for free. When I took it to the dealership, they told me that I had to replace the chain timing, tensioners, CVV, and many other stuff needed (I'm sending the receipt attached, see "car report 2024.pdf"). It was going to take 10 hours of work. Importantly, this was not covered by the Hyundai warranty or recalls. I bought the car 3 years ago, and both the previous owner and I did the year service to the car. I'm sending all the receipts and CARFAX of the services. Best regards, [XXX] . - #11588005May 10, 2024VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
The traction control system engages too frequently and makes the vehicle unable to accelerate and far too long to disengage, endangering my family during right turns onto lanes with traffic. the traction control system will engage even when there is no loss of traction, only a moderate acceleration with some turn angle. this has caused near accidents about once a month, that both me and my wife experience. there are no active recalls. all recall work was completed last year. this issue has persisted for the length of my ownership, last occuring only about week ago, and about once to 2 times a month.

2017 Hyundai Santa Fe sport 2.0 purchased brand new on July 2016. A month ago with 73322km mileage, engine failure occurred on the highway. First, I heard a rattling sound, then car started to shake, engine light blinking, oil change light went off (which never) happens, and the car started to decelerate on the highway. Upon finding the next exit, as I was turning right at the lights, car shut off completely. Went to the nearest Hyundai dealership which was within 2kms. The car was moderately drivable up to the dealership, and was advised that it is unsafe for continuous use. The dealership's diagnostics were: piston or 2nd cylinder was not compressing and spark plug burned. Hyundai Streetsville, Mississauga advised me to pay $8000 for a new engine or sell them the car. Had the car towed from this dealership to my local dealership Schlueter Hyundai in Waterloo. Their diagnostics were: Vehicle has dead miss, cylinder #2 pulled plug and bore scoped cylinder found piston melted around the edge causing no compression. Hyundai Canada denied warranty as it is past 5 years despite low mileage and regular maintenance at their own dealership. Went to Hyundai Canada to determine if there is recall on this particular issue and now was filed. Another friend who owned a similar car with 140 000 mileage, engine caught on fire on the highway. My car is available for inspection. Thankfully, there were no accidents or injuries that occurred. My concern is the potential for accidents on the highway and other vehicles that have this issue & there is no recall on the Hyundai Canada website.

- #11587396May 7, 2024ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, STRUCTURE:BODY:BUMPERS:ACTIVE SHUTTERS/GRILL
The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that the vehicle was overheating while driving. Additionally, the contact stated that upon noticing that coolant was leaking onto the ground, he opened the hood and discovered that coolant was leaking from the radiator. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that a foreign object had struck the radiator, causing coolant to leak into the engine compartment. The dealer informed the contact that a failure caused by a foreign object was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that upon examining pictures of the failure provided by the dealer, he noticed that there were rocks stuck in and near the radiator. The contact determined that the large gaps of the front grill were allowing foreign objects to strike the radiator. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened; however, the case was later closed. The failure mileage was approximately 11,591.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V651000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving at approximately 45 MPH on a highway exit ramp, she depressed the brake pedal and the "ABS" and check engine warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not slowing and was vibrating while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the brake pedal was very soft while being depressed and the vehicle was stalling. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and replaced the brake seals and other unknown brake parts. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the brake failure reoccurred along with the engine stalling. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer and was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Complete failure of brake system. After the vehicle parked, a significant puddle of brake fluid formed under the rear axle area (mid between rear wheels. It appears that a break line failed. An internet search revealed that Canada has issued a recall regarding corrosion of brake lines on this vehicle. Extremely dangerous situation. Fortunately, the failure happened when driving in a residential neighborhood at speeds less than 25 mph.

I filled up my gas tank and the digital guage was on 266 miles. After I filled up, it was the exact same mileage on the dashboard. It did not move after putting in about 4-5 gallons of gas.

I had just dropped my son off at the barbershop by my apartment. As I left the parking lot I proceeded to pull out into the street,as i tried to accelerate the car sputtered & lost all power. I then coasted into a nearby Wendy's. I parked & tried to crank the car to no avail. I then noticed a burning smell followed by some smoke. I had no dash lights prior to indicate any issues. I ended up calling my insurance to get help with the vehicle. Long story short the starter, coil pack & plugs along with the engine had to be replaced.2

Owned this vehicle for 4 years without any issues. Driving home on a friday, made a stop at a friends dance studio, and as I pulled into the parking lot my car just randomly died. I was able to restart the vehicle without any problems and there were no error messages on my car to indicate an issue. I drove the car home for it to die on me again as I was pulling onto my road. At first we thought maybe alternator. Still no messages are being indicated on my vehicle. My husand drove the car to the mechanic on Monday and as he drove it started making noises. He was able to get it to the mechanic. It was later that day that we were advised there was only a quart of oil left in my car (oil changes pretty regularly), per the mechanic the engine is toast. Still no error warnings etc. such as, oil low or change oil soon to advise me of any issues. I now have to completely replace my engine.

- #11586874May 3, 2024LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
I've been driving in Arizona on southbound [XXX] just south of [XXX] and noticed an issue that is very odd. I have a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe that has Highway Driving Assist that does both speed control and distance from the vehicle ahead of me and Lane Keeping Assist. After I pass [XXX], but before an overpass for [XXX], my vehicle, if those systems are on, goes haywire and all those safety systems turn off. I have experienced it on at least 3 of the lanes on that stretch. It happens both early in the am and later regardless of sun. It doesn't happen on northbound. As more cars have these features, this interference should be looked in to. I have not experienced this on any other of our highways. Here's a link to the the rough location. - #11586490May 2, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On Interstate 95 in Virginia, multiple times, going ~68-70 MPH the vehicle automatically applied the brakes causing an unsafe situation with a momentary loss of control. Multiple times this has happened with no other vehicle or obstacle in front of, or beside me. It has happened now for no reason causing the loss of control of the vehicle. We have reported this to Hyundai and they cannot find any fault code, or record of the incident. Our understanding is that this is a widespread problem with this vehicle and system, but also includes other vehicles with the same technology. We are afraid this may end up causing serious damage, injuries or fatality(ies). We have asked Hyundai to turn the system off, and they have refused. They have no solution, and we have spent time and money on this.
