I own a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited Ultimate and without any warnings or incidents experienced engine failure. The Hyundai dealer told me I need a new engine at the cost of $23,000.00. I know you have received complaints and are investigating these engines. I was driving the car at the time and lost power.

ENGINE
We were driving along the freeway at approximately 65 miles per hour. The car suddenly started to hesitate and then the engine cut completely out. We lost power steering and brakes when the engine cut out, but managed to get the vehicle to the shoulder of the road safely. There were no warning lights and the engine quit almost instantly. We had it towed to the Hyundai dealer and they said that the engine was destroyed and needed to be replaced.

ENGINE
Over the past 50,000 miles we have put on the car we have had major oil leaks and now the engine is burning oil. The engine has stalled multiple times and now sounds like a diesel. We have spent over $3000 in repairs and still will have to replace our car as it continues to worsen. Metal shavings have been found in the oil. No remedies have been found, aside from replacing the engine.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Unknown issue, but the car has auto braked 2x on the interstate going 65mph. No cars were around me nor any objects in the road. It stated auto braking and sensors going off. Resolved itself within 60 seconds, but did almost cause me to be rear ended because a tractor trailer was quickly approaching me.

Someone ran a red light at low speeds and t-boned my and I flipped over. The damage to the back passenger was minimal that should not have caused my car to flipped which in turn made me sustain multiple injuries including a broken rib for such a minor incident. The safely of this vehicle flipping so easily for such an accident has me very concerned. I have also retained a lawyer for this accident as well.

6 months ago my rod bearing broke in my engine, and I needed a new engine. From the engine recall. With a broken rod bearing you get an oil consumption problem. Oil consumption ruing your cat converter. But they aren’t telling anyone that. 6,000 miles after my new engine, my catalac converter broke. These cars are dangerous. They’re not telling anyone that this is the next problem. They just put you back on the road. Not to mention bad for the environment!

When driving the cluster panel with speedometer etc goes black for a bit and then comes back on. Also, all the warning lights will come on sporadically at the same time and stay on for a few seconds then go away, or just stay on until car is turned off. Heads up display also goes away and sometimes can't even locate in their settings area. After about 10 min of my phone being on wireless charger it gives me a warning message that my phone is getting hot and to remove the phone. Bought vehicle new on April 13th and this all started within the first week and continue.

vehicle will randomly shutoff. example coming off the interstate and off the exit ramp and accelerating into traffic vehicle with completly die, no power steering or power brakes. after pulling off the road the vehicle will restart and run normally. may not happen again for several weeks. dealer had performed recalls and cannot duplicate issue

I was driving on the highway at 65 miles per hour and my 2017 Santa Fe began to decelerate. I tried pushing hard on my petal and it would not accelerate past 30 mph. I got off the highway as safely as I could. I heard a knocking sound while driving and the check engine light came on after my car experienced this problem.

Engine failed in the middle of a 2 lane highway. There were no warning lights on at the time of failure. Vehicle needed to be towed to owners home and engine is “ blown “ and vehicle has been rendered no longer drivable. Vehicle only had 128,322 miles at time of engine failure. Police needed to be contacted to assist with getting car out of lane.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle came to a stop in the middle of the roadway. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with an engine knock. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V578000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.

The contact owns a.2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V651000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact stated that while parked, he observed smoke emanating from the engine compartment. The contact opened the hood and observed flames coming from the center of the motor and extinguished the fire. The fire department was made. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fire started due to fuel rail malfunctioned and melting the hard plastic manifold causing the fire, and the fuel rail and intake manifold needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.

STEERING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
I had a serious issue with the Santa Fe lane keeper system. I was driving on I15 in a winding portion through the Virgin River Gorge in relatively high traffic on a corner. I have used this feature many times in the past and expected a gentle nudge on the steering wheel. But unexpectedly the steering wheel turned hard left, almost causing a total loss of control. I am safe driver always checking for other drivers doing what they shouldn't, but I never expected my car to be the one making dangerous movements. If I hadn't had a firm grip on the wheel, I would have been out of control on a narrow bridge in heavy traffic. Am I the only one with this problem?

I took my 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe into the dealership on March 7, 2024. The engine had failed due to the failure of the connecting rod bearing that is under recall. On April, 6th 2024 I was called that my car was ready. As I got into the car there was a coffee cup, a water bottle, and a long nose plier left in my vehicle. Then I noticed that the tire pressure warning light was on. I went back to the service department, and they went to refill the air. Note the paperwork shows that it had already been done. I got the car back and proceeded to leave, I traveled about two blocks before turning around. The right front turn light was out, and the car made a vibrating noise, and didn't have the same feel as before I had the engine problem, they took it back in to look at the vehicle again. They fixed the turn light. Told me the problem with the TPMS was the batteries inside it. As for the vibration and poor handling I was told the vehicle needed new motor mounts, and said they would fix it for three thousand dollars. Looking up the part numbers of these motor mounts, they are labeled as engine mounts, the engine is what was replaced. None of these problems existed before I brought my car in. The last item on the paperwork was that of a multipoint inspection. If they had inspected my vehicle, these problems would have been found before returning my car to me. I don't feel safe driving my car.

1) What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? I tried to park in the parking space next to it by making a slight right turn. As soon as I stepped on the brake to park, the car began to rush forward. I noticed again and again that my foot was slamming on the brakes, but the car didn't stop. My car went over the ledge between the parking lot and the store, slammed into the pillar of the building on the left, smashed all the glass in the dance studio, and hit the wall on the right before coming to a stop. It took six seconds from rushing forward to into the store. 2) How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I must have been severe injured if the car didn't stop by hitting a right-side wall of the store. And if there were people, I was not able to avoid casualites. 3) Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, the car was towed and reviewd by car insurance. Car insurance informed that th e car will be total loss. No information about reproducing the issue 4) Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No 5) Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, that was suddenly occured 6) Request: I want NHTSA to investigate my car of sudden unintended acceleration. I would like to get EDR, X-ray of PCB board of electrical central unit(a.k.a ECU) managing brake and accelerator and car manufacturer's reliability sign-off report of the ECU board. I have a security footage taking the accident moment. I failed to upload the video. If you want, please let me know. Will send the video file with NHTSA.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I have a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. I was notified the ABS module may leak hydraulic fluid on electronics that can cause a fire while driving or parked. This SAFETY issue was found in September 2023. After 7 months a remedy still has not been found. How long is a suitable amount of time to wait for a solution? How long should I need to wait for this to either burn down or get fixed? A remedy has been found for the Santa Fe Sport. Will this same fix, work for my Santa Fe? If it will I am willing to pay for it and wait for reimbursement. The would be better than wondering if my vehicle is going to catch fire while I'm driving down the highway. Any help you can give me will be appreciated.
