2018 Ford F-150 5.0L with 10R80 10-speed transmission, approximately 86,000 miles. The transmission began exhibiting abnormal shifting, including missed shifts and loss of propulsion. On multiple occasions while traveling approximately 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power/propulsion. During these events, the gear indicator changed from 10th to 1st and engine RPM appeared to increase. I do not believe the transmission physically engaged 1st gear; the actual gear engaged is UNKNOWN. The unexpected loss of propulsion at highway speed created a safety concern because the vehicle would not respond normally to accelerator input while traveling with traffic. The transmission also malfunctioned when accelerating from a stop. It would sometimes have difficulty shifting through approximately 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears and lose propulsion for approximately 3–5 seconds. I would release and reapply the accelerator trying to get the transmission to engage a gear. This could be particularly dangerous when entering or crossing traffic. An independent transmission shop inspected the vehicle and documented codes P0732, P0734, and P07F7. The shop found the transmission fluid full but dark and diagnosed an internal transmission failure requiring replacement. The transmission was replaced on October 5, 2026. To my knowledge, the original transmission was not disassembled, and the exact internal failure is UNKNOWN. The vehicle was not inspected by Ford. There was no crash or injury.

On XXX, I parked my 2016 Ford F-150 in a Kroger parking lot, in [XXX] around 5 pm. I placed the transmission selector in PARK, exited the vehicle, and went inside the store. The vehicle was unattended. When I came back outside, I discovered that the truck had rolled from where I had parked it, traveled across the parking lot, and struck another vehicle. A police report was filed regarding the incident. I believe there may have been a failure of the vehicle's parking mechanism, transmission, shift linkage, transmission range sensing system, or another component responsible for preventing the vehicle from moving while in PARK. The current answer is UNKNOWN. The incident created a serious safety risk because the unattended vehicle was able to roll freely through a public parking lot where pedestrians and other vehicles were present. Fortunately, to my knowledge, no one was injured, but the vehicle did strike another vehicle and caused property damage. At this time, the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a Ford dealer or independent repair facility. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by Ford to determine the cause of the rollaway. Police responded to/documented the incident and a police report was completed. I did not observe any warning lamps or warning messages indicating that the vehicle was not properly in PARK before exiting the vehicle. I had no indication that the vehicle would move after I exited it. I am reporting this incident because the vehicle unexpectedly rolled while unattended after being placed in PARK, and I believe this presents a significant safety concern that warrants investigation. Vehicle: 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor Mileage: Approximately 103,000 miles My 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor developed a severe shudder and vibration during acceleration. The condition progressively worsened and became significant enough that I had the vehicle professionally inspected. The vehicle was diagnosed with a failing torque converter as the cause of the acceleration shudder/vibration. The truck has been well maintained throughout my ownership. It is garage kept and receives regular maintenance through an authorized Ford service facility. I have maintenance records documenting the vehicle’s service history. My concern is that the torque-converter failure produces a severe vibration/shudder during acceleration and has progressively worsened. I am concerned about the potential safety implications if the torque converter or transmission continues to deteriorate while the vehicle is being driven. I contacted Ford regarding the failure and requested assistance with the repair. The vehicle is outside Ford’s original powertrain warranty at approximately 103,000 miles, and Ford declined to provide assistance. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA has a record of this torque-converter/transmission failure and the severe acceleration shudder occurring in my 2021 Ford F-150.

My 2022 F150 Powerboost has what I believe to be a design issue in the harness between the fuse box and the DC/DC converter. The truck was driving normally and then some messages started popping up on the screen that seemed to be related to the power system. We had to stop for some road work and when it was our time to go the truck died and put itself in park. Fortunately the road construction crew noticed we were having a problem and put cones around our truck so people wouldn't run into it. The road crew tried to jump it but was not able to get enough charge into the system to start the engine. We had a towing company take the truck to a shop in town. They replaced the under the hood battery and the one under the back seat. Unfortunately the 12V system continued to drain down. After charging the battery at the shop I was able to drive the truck home but surprisingly one of the systems that shuts down when the voltage drops is the power steering and without power steering the vehicle is very difficult to drive. The Ford dealer in Mount Airy Maryland updated the software but that didn't work. In the end the problem was found to be 4 very small gauge wires between the fuse box and DC/DC converter that had some corrosion on them. Once replaced the truck operates normally. It seems to me this is a design flaw in the system so I wanted to bring it to your attention. Without the DC/DC converter charging the 12V system the vehicle will shut off with little warning and can leave motorists in a dangerous situation.

In my year 2000 Ford 150. I had the passenger window down and noticed it was sprinkling. I went outside to put the window up and when I closed the door, the back window of the truck literally smashed to pieces. I was told it was because of heat. I took pictures of everything. I am writing this as a recall so no one else will experience this or possibly get hurt. Also, the motor blew out at in the range of 180,000 miles. I was told the rods were knocking so hard.

The transmission control module recall was serviced and a diagnostic was paid for to ensure there was no outstanding issues with the transmission 300 miles later the transmission totally failed in forward gear and reverse. It will only go into park, no reverse and no forward gear, a complete electronic and mechanical failure 300 miles after a service! I CALLED Ford for assistance and they would only take a complaint. With no follow up.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted and the vehicle decelerated to approximately 15 MPH. The powertrain warning light was illuminated during the failure. Occasionally, the vehicle was coasted over to the side of the road, and the contact attempted to turn off the vehicle, but the vehicle occasionally remained running. The contact waited for several minutes before continuing to drive. During the failure, the occupants inside the vehicle lunged forward. The contact stated that a niece's head struck the windshield, leaving a bruise, and the contact’s partner lunged forward and struck her head on the side door handle bar, which left a bruise. The failure had occurred more than 25 times. The vehicle was taken to four certified mechanics, and the lead frame and all the sensors were replaced. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V237000 (Power Train). The dealer performed the update of the powertrain control module software; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed the VIN was no longer under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.

My [XXX] son was at a stop light and when the light turned green he started to turn left. As he was turning left, the steering wheel started to pull left to the point that he couldn't steer it back, almost as if it was stuck and kept pulling left. He fought with it and tried to press the break. This caused him to hit the center median of the street ([XXX]) and the truck flipped and landed on driver side. My son took off his seatbelt and climbed out of passenger window. Another person that helped him told him that they saw him struggle with the steering wheel. However, since my son is [XXX], he didn't know to gather witness information. A police report was completed and I'm waiting to receive it. However, he was not cited as he was not speeding and had only simply turned left at the signal. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11768502October 2, 2026POWER TRAIN, ENGINE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
I have a 2026 F150 3.5L Twin-turbo ECOBOOST Hybrid King Ranch. I have experienced the following behaviors: (1) rough transitions when climbing grades; (2) rough transitions when braking hard/coming down grades; (3) 10-speed transmission - electric motor slippage during de-accerelation (especially when Adapted Cruise is activated); (4) transmission seems to have gear hunting at low speeds/stop and go; and (5) harsh shifts/unpredictable downshifting with adaptive cruise. I purchased this f150 since Ford advertised the Eco-Powerboost Hybrid/10-speed transmission was built for heavy duty hauling/towing. In my mind, heat is the silent killer of hybrid long-term reliability and longevity (I live in SC - a hot climate). In my mind, I feel this electric-gas powertrain guesses my driving habits instead of responding to my driving habits.

My 2017 Ford F150 has been downshifting unexpectedly now for weeks. There have been a few times when I literally lost control of my truck. I am afraid to drive on Highway. I use my truck for work and everything else. The local Ford dealership here Astro Ford in D'Iberville, Ms told me yesterday they will not repair my truck based on guidance from Ford...they recieved just a few days ago....saying the recall repair is inadequate and another remedy is being worked on. I cannot drive my truck to go to work to make money to pay bills. Based on what I have read they will also refuse to give me a car loaner of some kind for the time being. What XXX am I supposed to do now??????

The windshields are extremely prone to cracking and chipping. I am now in need of my fourth windshield from an acorn falling off a tree and hitting my windshield while going 25mph. I have had multiple Ford F150s and have never replaced a windshield, I have not changed my driving habits and every one has been from an extremely minuscule incident such as this. I know of at least three other F150 owners at my place of employment who have been through at least one windshield on their newer trucks as well. There is something wrong with these windshields.
