While driving on vacation our car just slowed down gave the message, “reduced acceleration, drive with care” and then shut off while on the high way. We were able to start it again but after that haven’t had that message but have had the message to service safety restraint system multiple times. I have taken my SUV to the dealership multiple times for both issues and they have said multiple codes generate but they can’t find anything to fix.

Dear NHTSA, I am submitting this complaint to report a recurring and potentially dangerous issue with the transmission in my 2018 Chevrolet Suburban, which I purchased brand new in 2018. At approximately 60,000 miles, I experienced severe transmission issues that led to a complete transmission replacement. Now, at around 133,000 miles, I am encountering the same symptoms once again. The transmission makes a loud clunking noise during acceleration and braking, and shifts gears abruptly and harshly. These symptoms appeared suddenly, with no warning lights or prior alerts. This problem poses a significant safety concern. The vehicle sometimes struggles to accelerate properly, making it dangerous to merge into traffic. Additionally, the forceful shifting makes the vehicle feel unstable and unpredictable, as though something beneath the car might fail while in motion. I transport my husband and our children in this vehicle, and this issue puts all of us at serious risk. I have scheduled another appointment with a GM dealership to inspect the vehicle. However, given that this is a recurring failure involving a critical system, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter as a potential defect affecting other owners of the same model. Thank you for your attention to this serious concern.

The vehicle has 70,000 miles. The engine has failed and been replaced two times. We are on the third engine. The first time was in 2021 the second time was in 2024. I heard that others are having a similar issue. This is a 2020 .6.2L RST. The engine failed the first time while driving at high speed the car just stopped working. The second time we heard it failing and were able to drive it to the dealer where the engine fell apart in the parking lot The vehicle has had other issues too. Currently the wire harness has failed. This has happened several times but the dealer has not figured out a repair. Each time it’s failed while driving causing power steering to fail while driving. I don’t not trust my teen drivers around the vehicle or to drive.

They inspected and denied any liability for any failure of their safety devices (And my question to them is if any these are functioning properly as said, then there wouldn't be any collision ) D. Yes, inspected E. There were no waring lamps, no seat vibration, the emergency brake never ceased the car from colliding.

Since purchasing the vehicle on September 27, 2024, I have experienced a series of troubling issues that raise serious concerns about its design, manufacturing, and overall safety, including: Airbag system malfunction: My airbags were nonfunctional for over a month. Tire-related issues: Required full replacement of the initial set of tires. Persistent alignment problems Bluetooth audio problems: Poor quality and connectivity with multiple phones, resolved only after a service visit in May 2025. Defective seat frame: Rear passenger-side bucket seat required full replacement. Defective paint: Blisters and bubbles in the rear quarter panel paint. Fuel module failure: Most concerning, the vehicle abruptly stopped on the road last week and required towing. I was later told the cause was a fuel module failure. Each of these issues is concerning on its own. Taken together, they represent a troubling pattern of unreliability and potential risk to my safety and that of others on the road. They’ve also resulted in a significant loss of my time. This vehicle has spent over a month at the dealership for service—astounding for a truck that’s only eight months old. These are the kinds of delays and disruptions I specifically try to avoid by purchasing and maintaining new Chevrolet vehicles.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the check engine warning light flashed, and the traction control warning light illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side road and contacted the dealer. The dealer advised the contact to not restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with lifter valves failure. The dealer determined that the two banks of lifter valves and the camshaft needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under warranty for the same failure. The dealer provided an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The manufacturer referred the contact to the dealer for assistance in reducing the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.

- #11665912June 9, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
I have had my cruise control set and my car will slam on the brakes with no vehicles in front of my car or on each side. This has happened multiple times, it doesn’t matter if I am going 40MPH or 60+MPH. I have taken it in and they say there is nothing they can do for the issue. I’m worried for the safety of myself, my family, and my unborn child. As well as any cars around (behind me potentially) when this happens. I do not want to unintentionally cause an accident.
