My suburban is 4 years old and needs a new engine. The dealership is seeing a lot of 21's with the same issue. Bank 1 and 2 have failed, both powerods are broken and the cans and lifters have failed. There were no prior warning. We were driving and 2 warnings popped up and we took it to a dealership. We then went to a private repair shop for second opinion. The warranty is 70k miles and my car is 72k miles. This should not be happening with a 4 year old. The other Suburban engine has been recalled but mine has no current recalls on it.

I have a 2019 Chevy Suburban 5.3L, 6-speed autimatic transmission. I recently started having real bad hesitation while in any gear and can feel it going into any gear real bad. Was quoted filter, fluid and gasket replacement. I had that work done at $459, which didn't fix the problem. Then they said, "it's possibly the clutch." Apparently after talking to a mechanic (who also has the same transmission with problems) and reading reading online, there are a bunch of people having problems with this transmission. This vehicle is only 6 yrs old, it shouldn't be having problems like this. GM should do a recall on these transmissions. I'm on a fixed income and don't have money to get it fixed.

Not sure the exact cause yet. But another big leak of coolant from the car. This is the 4th big problem with the same issue. I have been dealing with engine/radiator/coolant problems with this car since April 2024. It has been in the shop 2 separate times for 9 weeks total. With other visits in between. There is something wrong with this car.

Was driving about 45 mph on 2 lane road. All of a sudden, without warning we lost power (had no propulsion). Luckily there was a residential side street that we were able to turn onto and get off of the highway with no shoulder. We coasted to the side of the street and called a tow truck. Had we not been able to get off the road, we would have been dead in the road, blocking an entire lane of a busy 2 lane highway without a shoulder to pull off on. There was no warning prior to incident but a message did appear during the incident. I believe it said "Loss of propulsion." We turned off the vehicle, then tried to restart it. Engine attempted to restart, but it made a horrible noise & wouldn't restart. Still had battery power. Vehicle was towed to a local dealership where it is currently being evaluated. We know of a massive recall on the 6.2 l engines. Ours is a 5.3 l engine. So far I'm seeing many people having problems but no official recall for the 5.3 l engines that are having THE SAME issue as the massively recalled 6.2 engines. This needs to be looked at. Our Vehicle only had less than 30k miles on it. We bought it new and have done routine maintenance.

- #11679020August 7, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated while driving at approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle brakes independently activated. The contact stated there were no warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled off the highway and stopped the vehicle. The vehicle was turned off and restarted and regained braking functionality. The failure was intermittent but occurred at various speeds. The failure occurred mostly while driving up an incline and depressing the accelerator pedal and the independent braking failure would occur. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that prior to the failures the vehicle had been taken to a dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V645000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.

If I pull up to a parking spot and I’m slowly creeping into the spot, say at a popular supermarket, and slowing down the brake pedal stiffens up and it’s almost impossible to press. I feel like my truck may not stop. If I’m on a slight incline and in a line behind another vehicle, I’ve noticed the brake pedal stiffens up then as well. Awhile ago I thought there was a recall for this for my truck and it was something about the vacuum in the brake pedal. This is a super problem. I have five kids and we are on the road a lot. This has been happening a lot but most recently would be today.

The coolant control valve malfunctioned on this vehichle several times during the course of ownership. It causes the vehichle to run in limp mode. This part was replaced in July 2023 at ~40,000 miles as a result. The part again began to fail in june/july 2025 with a dealer visit and diagnostic in July. This causes a check engine light, reduced milage, reduced acceleration, constant fan running and fails state inspection Google searches indicate this is a very common problem, yet no recall has occured to date. The first repair was in warrantee and now the vehicle is out of warantee. If the part was not covered under the vehicle warrantee, the part and repair would have been covered by the part warantee. Becsuse of the initial powertrain warrantee repair, the part warrantee does not apply. This is clearly a defective design and part that requires recall and replacement at GM cost

This vehicle shifts hard and was identified to have a transmission valve issue. It should be under the same recall that other Chevrolet vehicles have with same issue. On top of this, Chevrolet cannot keep up with demand for this part making only 500 per week. I’ve been told it may be 2 months before I have my vehicle back.

After a major HVAC repair involving the evaporator core (performed at a Chevrolet dealership), my vehicle began experiencing serious electrical issues. The second-row 12V outlet no longer functions, and the vehicle has gone completely dead three times while the engine was off due to the auto stop/start system — once while stationary on a major highway, creating a dangerous situation. Each time, the engine failed to restart automatically, and the entire electrical system became unresponsive.

On 7/26/2025 approximately 8:30pm (PDT), driving south on CA I-880 in third lane from right traveling at approximately 50mph when vehicle engine died and went into neutral gear. Dashboard alert indicated to press start engine button, but would not start. Managed to maneuver vehicle to right shoulder amid rush hour traffic. Fortunately, a CA Highway Patrol officer saw us and was able to render assistance. Vehicle would not restart or go into neutral after several attempts to restart engine. Special tow vehicle was called to give us a tow home. This incident happened after we received a Chevrolet recall notice back in May or June about the engine and did take the vehicle in for service on 6/10/2025. The dealership service recommended using higher weight oil and it would help mitigate any potential issue. Obviously, this was not the case. We were very fortunate to avoid any serious injury or damage on the highway due to engine failure.

The engine in 2025 Suburban (6.2L V8) has failed and the car is not drivable. It is currently in a Chevy dealership service department waiting for parts. The 2025 model is not listed under the recall. However it should be, I know of 3 2025 engines that have recently failed. I was passing a vehicle and as I took my foot off the accelerator the transmission shifted 2 times and then the engine shut off and the car was coasting. We had no indication that the engine shut off, just several messages on the screen. ( Press start button, and conditions not correct for shifting.)
