ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL
The contact’s wife owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact state that upon start up, the instrument panel was illuminated and visible; however, once the START/STOP button was depressed, the instrument panel displayed dimmed. The contact then stated that after the vehicle was shifted into reverse(R), the instrument panel illuminated and displayed visibly; however, once shifted into drive (D), the instrument panel displayed dimmed. The contact stated that he was concerned for his wife’s safety with the inability to see critical information on the instrument panel. An undisclosed dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the failure was not a safety concern and an appointment was scheduled for a later month. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The interior displays, instrument panel, and touch screen are stuck in bright day mode. The dimmer switch in the dash will not respond or change the brightness but still turns the overhead lights on and off. At night this causes blinding conditions and a glare on the windows decreasing visibility. The issue is to be investigated by the dealer, there was a wait to get it checked. There are no warning lights and the vehicle may be inspected at any time.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the instrument panel was faulty and the contact was unable to see the fuel gauge, tire pressure monitoring system, battery, or temperature gauge. Additionally, the low-beam headlight was abnormally bright. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the instrument cluster was faulty; however, the contact was informed that a repair was unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and declined to buy back the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

During night driving, the instrument cluster does not dim, staying bright and I am unable to manually lower the brightness, this produces a glare around the car which makes it extremely difficult to drive at night, I have also had instances where the instrument cluster dims during the day for a brief period of time where I can hardly read my current speed, then it returns to being bright after a few moments. I have not taken the car into Jeep for service yet but have an appointment scheduled.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Every morning the instrument panel and the radio/navigation screen are very dark. All of a sudden it will turn on. Sometimes a mile down the road and sometimes 5 miles down the road. Sometimes it never turns on. If I need to use the gps/navigation directions this is a big issue as I cannot see the screen. I cannot see the gas guage or instrument warnings. I cannot see the spedometer.

Greetings, There is day time dash dimming issues, and unable to adjust manually. Anti collision feature randomly turns off while driving. Auto on and off feature for fuel economy has not worked in 14 months. Finally, a hard gear jerking event occurs when traveling at slow speed that feels like being rear ended by another vehicle. Not feeling safe with this Jeep. Dealer had the vehicle for week to tell me these are known issues with no remedy available. Please help!

The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power and shut off with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact attempt to restart the vehicle several times but the vehicle would not restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the contact was informed that the starter needed to be replaced. It is as if the display is stuck in night mode, so you cannot see the digital speedometer, or any warnings such as gas, temperature, tires, etc. Brought to the dealer twice and was told there is no fix and engineering is working on a resolution.

Dash lights, hazard button, radio stuck in night mode. Fuel gauge, speedometer, engine temperature and check engine/ tire pressure gauge are not visible in daylight. Creates a hazard when unable to see viable information like a flat tire, engine overheating, or low on gas. Tried to get it fixed but was told jeep currently has not issued a solution to fix it.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Dashboard screen behind steering wheel and middle dashboard mounted screen are not adjusting for brightness during the day. The only things you can read during the day are the large velocity number in the center on the driver side screen and the blue line for route directions on the middle screen.. At night or very dim driving conditions the screens are bright enough to read, but in full sun it is all but viewless. I've read that there have been some recalls (90 vehicles) that were manufactured in summer 2022, but my VIN is not on that list.

The cluster display on my vehicle is dim too non visible in full sunlight , daylight operating conditions . Automatic display functions turned off and manual brightness adjusted full, yet the dim to non existent backlight does not change. I been told this is a problem and FCA engineers are looking at, but at what priority. It seems that more and more of these complaints are showing up. There needs to be a recall to fix.
