ICCU failed and my car will not charge. The dealer has diagnosed this issue. Parts are not available to fix this issue. The problem has been reported to the manufacturer but they have no expected delivery date for the needed parts. I was told it could be months.

My vehicle experienced a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), which rendered the vehicle inoperable and required towing to the dealer, where the ICCU failure was confirmed and the vehicle remains available for inspection. The failure created a safety risk due to sudden loss of drivability and the potential for the vehicle to stop unexpectedly. The dealer has stated there is no estimated time of arrival for the replacement ICCU and no loaner vehicle has been provided. A similar ICCU failure occurred approximately one year ago (February 2025) and was repaired within one week, which is why it was not previously reported. Warning messages and drivability issues appeared prior to the failure.

On [XXX] my there was a loud pop from the rear of the vehicle and electric vehicle warnings popped up on my dash. I turned around at the light, and as I drove I could tell that the vehicle was slowly losing power. Speed was limited to 30mph. Barely made it back home before the warnings on the dash told me to immediately stop driving. Vehicle was towed to the dealership, and they informed me on January 8, 2026 that the ICCU had went out and blown a fuse, so they needed to replace both. The car is unable to be driven until this is replaced. The current odometer reading is 3,390 miles. I called yesterday, January 21st and was informed that Hyundai has the ICCU on backorder and it will be at least two weeks before they can update me again. I've reached out to Hyundai Motor America National Consumer Affairs. They stated: 1) No recall exists for this issue and claim this is only impacting 1% of vehicles. 2) The supply of ICCUs was depleted in December 2025 and have been on backorder since. 3) There are no plans to redesign the ICCU to prevent failures so this could very well happen again, and as there are no indicators as to what causes it to malfunction it is making the vehicle unreliable. They have 'escalated' this but I likely will not get the vehicle back for a few more weeks. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

As I was driving on a very busy city street I heard a loud pop and then got a warning to check electrical systems. Luckily I was able to get the car to a Walmart parking lot and arrange for the car to be towed to a dealer 90 miles away. The dealer contacted me and informed me the ICCU unit and high voltage fuse would have to be replaced and no time frame for parts availability to be determined. This is apparently a recurring problem with the ICCU component of Hyundai electric vehicles that could potentially leave a driver stranded in the middle of nowhere in the middle of winter.

ICCU Unit went bad in 2025. Car totally dead. Jumped, taken to dealership, about 1 week to fix ICCU and blown fuse. A couple months later car totally dead again. Now bad battery. I am concerned about driving anywhere now. Was stranded last time it totally died. 75 year old female, should not have to pay $699 a month for iffy Ionic 5 and rent a dependable vehicle if I travel to visit friends and family.

The car had no power on Monday [XXX]. It was taken taken to Tasca Hyundai in Hartsdale NY. The service manager told me it was the ICCU and 12v battery. This had previously been repaired on 12/11/24 under recall according to Hyundai's own records. The current service manager has no idea when the part will be available, possibly not for weeks. The car has been serviced according to Hyundai's maintenance schedule and recall notices. In fact the car went for maintenance one week prior to the part failure. No recall notice for this failure has been issued INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am writing to report a serious safety incident involving my 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 and to request a thorough investigation and guidance on next steps. On Jan. 3, 2026, at approximately 6:15 p.m. on a snowy day, we parked our car in the driveway of a weekend rental home near Lake Tahoe, CA. The driveway had a slight slope toward the house, and we backed the car down the driveway with the rear of the car facing the house. My husband turned off the car, then all five occupants exited the vehicle, closed the doors, and began unloading items from the trunk. The car began rolling backwards toward us and the house. It only stopped after pinning my husband into a snowbank created by a snowplow. The other three adults and our [XXX] niece narrowly avoided being struck. While pinned behind the vehicle, my husband had to dig out some snow to reach into his pants pocket and retrieve the key fob. I then moved the car forward a few feet to free him. Although he was pinned in the snow, my husband was (thankfully) not seriously injured. After freeing my husband, I put the car in Park and turned it off. In this model, the parking brake engages automatically; there is no separate parking brake button or lever. A few minutes later, without anyone in or near the vehicle, the car again rolled backwards down the driveway into the same snowbank. Tracks in the snow clearly indicate that the wheels rotated and the car rolled; it was not sliding on ice with the brakes applied. In other words, the parking brake and/or Park mechanism failed to hold the vehicle in place in sub freezing, snowy conditions. The temperature at this location and time was in the mid 20s °F. After returning home from our trip, we took the car to our Hyundai service center, which has performed all maintenance since we purchased it in 2022. The service center performed all standard diagnostics but was unable to replicate the failure conditions. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On December 28, 2025, the vehicle displayed the dashboard warning "Check electric vehicle system." It was brought to the dealership and has been sitting there for 24 days so far due to a drained 12v battery and failed ICCU system. The dealers informs me that the ICCU is on a "national freeze, meaning that the part is on standby for further review by Hyundai engineers. The safety of everyone in the vehicle was at risk because the electrical system could have powered down in traffic without warning.

While driving, I heard a popping sound from the backseat area, and immediately experienced a sudden loss of power. Warning sounds came on and a dashboard warning to check the power supply. I was able get home on back streets with a maximum speed of 23 mph before the vehicle lost all power. I had it towed to the local Hyundai dealership where they diagnosed a failed ICCU unit. As of this writing it's been two weeks and I am still waiting for the part to be replaced.

The ICCU failed with only 5,000 miles driven. The car then lost power, and would not move. Luckily, I was in a residential area. Had I been on the highway, I am uncertain if I would have been able to safely pull off to the side of the road.

The vehicle, while driving, displayed an error to "Check vehicle electrical system" and went into a mode that wouldn't allow it to accelerate beyond ~20mph. I was lucky that I was not on the highway, or it would have extremely unsafe. Instead I was on a 45mph road and was only a moderate hazard to traffic passing me. Upon returning home, we called the dealership and were told that we couldn't take it in for 3 days but that it was safe to drive it there, approximately 9 miles. That morning, I made it less than 1 mile as the car wouldn't go above 12mph. It displayed an flashing warning to pull the car over, then the car completely shut down electronically. I was unable to shift to Park or so anything at all. So while I waited 2 hours for a tow truck, I had to stay seated pressing the break in 15 degree weather with no heat. I called the dealer to inform them that it would be towed instead of dropped off by me. I told them the error code I saw in the app, and they said it was likely an ICCU failure. Upon receipt and diagnosis, they said it was the ICCU and they would likely have it replaced by Wed 01/14/2026. After no communication, I called 6 times on 01/15/2026 before getting an answer. At this time I was told the part wouldn't arrive until between 01/17 - 01/26 and that they would call me after 01/26 if it hadn't arrived yet. They refused to offer a loaner or rental when asked, claiming that "they did not have any available". As of now I am still waiting for any further communication from the dealership.

I was driving the car on the morning of January 1, 2026 and on its own with no warning it slowed down to 22 miles per hour on a street with 40 miles per hour. Cars angrily began speeding around me, and I could not make the car speed up beyond 22 miles per hour. I turned down another street and a message in the car said something to the effect of to check power source and pull over. I turned the car off and restarted but it the problem continued. I was able to make it home, and the car then went completely dead. I had it towed thereafter to the Hyundai dealer and they eventually told me the ICCU was broken and would need a new one (but they cannot say when even after weeks). I now see that many others have had this same problem for some time. I was not warned that this could happen (and would not have leased the car had I been told). It is dangerous to have the car throttle down especially to not be warned ahead, and I am glad I was not on a freeway and made it safely home. The dealer said this is happening to others, and that there are no replacement ICCUs in the United States. From the internet (I cannot verify) others said they waited months and got the same part which has failed for many, sometimes again after replacement. I only know what happened to my car and consider this dangerous.

Hyundai model Ioniq 5 (all years and trim styles) have a known issue with ICCUs (Integrated Charging Control Unit) that fail. This component controls charging of the 12 volt battery, and in turn electrical systems. Hyundai replaced my ICCU, but I am concerned it may fail again, as the underlying issue does not seem to be known or addressed. When the ICCU fails, the vehicle can suddenly lose the ability to move. This can be extremely dangerous if the car is in motion and unable to safely pull over. Luckily, my ICCU failed in the middle of a parking lot. Many Ioniq 5 owners report this issue, some multiple times on multiple ICCUs.

The ICCU failed at 11,000 miles and 11 months into the lease. When the ICCU fails, the car becomes inoperable. This was a major safety hazard since it broke down on a major US highway and I was barely able to get off to the side of the road. This seems to be affecting a large number of Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 models.

Our 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 suddenly lost propulsion after briefly showing a warning that the 12V battery was malfunctioning. Fortunately, this happened close to our home on a road with little traffic. We could make it home at very slow speed (15mph) and the car completely shut off on our driveway and became unresponsive. The vehicle was towed to our Hyundai dealer by Hyundai roadside assistance service. The mechanic at the Hyundai dealer (Sport Durst Hyundai, Durham, NC) informed us that the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) had failed and did not charge the 12V battery. After researching I learned there had been a recall on the ICCU for model years 2021-24. However, when entering our car's VIN into the Hyundai recall site, and also in the NHTSA recall site, we found that our car was not included in the recall. Still, the ICCU failed. If we had driven on a freeway the sudden loss of propulsion could have caused a catastrophic collision. I also read that even after ICCU replacement due to recall, some replaced ICCUs failed again. I am very concerned about the safety of the car, even after repair. The mechanic advised us that it may take more than a week for the ICCU to arrive for replacement.

We heard a pop noise and then received low 12 volt low battery warning. The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) might be the root cause of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric vehicle. Car went into slow turtle mode and we could barely move the car. we pulled over and found a safe spot to park car. we had car towed to Hyundai dealership since car was not operational.
