Second failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) on this 2025 IONIQ 5. The ICCU stopped charging the 12-volt battery, leaving the vehicle unable to start. This is the second time the ICCU has failed and required replacement in approximately one year. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. ICCU failure can cause a loss of drive power while driving; this failure was discovered while parked. Earlier model years (2022-2024 IONIQ 5) are covered by recall 24V-868 for this same defect; this 2025 vehicle is outside that recall population and has now failed twice.

On XXX, while driving my 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 on a local road, the vehicle suddenly lost power and would not accelerate beyond 40 MPH. There was no prior warning. I had not yet merged onto the expressway. Had this happened at highway speed, I would have been unable to keep up with traffic, which would have created a serious risk of a collision. I continued driving at reduced speed until I could safely pull into a gas station. Once stopped, the instrument cluster displayed "Stop vehicle and check power supply." About 10 minutes later, with the vehicle parked and still on, it displayed "Check 12V battery. Stop safely and engage parking brake." Roughly 10-15 minutes after that, the vehicle shut down completely and could not be restarted. The vehicle was towed to Gerald Hyundai in [XXX] on that day. On XXX, the dealer confirmed that the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) and a fuse failed and had to be ordered for replacement. The vehicle is less than one year old. I am aware of numerous reports of ICCU and 12V battery failures on this model, and my experience is consistent with them. A sudden loss of propulsion while driving is a safety hazard, and I am concerned this defect can occur without warning at highway speeds. The headrest (in it's farthest back position) pushes my head so far forward that I have to hunch my body or have no support from just above my lower back up to the mid back of my head. I think this is very unsafe should I get in an accident. In many online forums people are taking them off entirely or removing them and turning them around. This is unbelievable. I didn't realize how bad it was until I recently drove a friends BMW Mini Countryman where my back and neck were properly supported. The headrest should be recalled and redesigned immediately.

The vehicle experiences catastrophic, recurring 12V auxiliary battery discharge and complete electrical system collapse due to a suspected repeating failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The vehicle was previously serviced for identical 12V power-loss failures and recall interventions in June 2025. Despite those prior repair attempts, the defect has recurred aggressively, resulting in four separate 12V battery collapse events in October 2026 (specifically on October 10, October 13, October 17, and a complete breakdown requiring a flatbed tow on October 19). This defect presents an extreme safety hazard: when the ICCU fails to step down high-voltage power to maintain the 12V system, the vehicle experiences sudden and unannounced loss of electrical power while parked or operating, risking a total loss of motive power, steering resistance, and exterior lighting in traffic. Diagnostic testing confirms internal 12V battery failure with normal resting parasitic draw, indicating the charging system root cause remains unaddressed despite prior manufacturer recall campaigns (such as Recall 272). The vehicle is currently at an authorized dealer awaiting diagnosis and repair.

"stop vehicle and check power supply" came in from nowhere, The vehicle was fully charged and there were no previous issues noted. The charge quickly dropped down to about 8% After that. I searched for the error message online and learned about a recall specific to this exact year, make and model. The recall was related to this exact issue. I towed it to a dealer at 7300 Broadway, Denver.

I am reporting a serious suspected brake malfunction involving my 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5, VIN [XXX]. While driving straight on a wet road during rainy conditions, I pressed the brake pedal to slow down. The pedal felt soft and sank toward the floor, but the vehicle did not slow down or respond as expected. The vehicle continued moving, and an accident occurred. The vehicle sustained major damage and may be a total loss. I am concerned that the braking system may have malfunctioned. I am requesting that NHTSA review this incident for a possible safety-related defect affecting the braking system of the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5. I request that this complaint be considered alongside other reports of braking problems involving the same vehicle or braking components. I would like the vehicle and its braking system to be inspected before it is dismantled or disposed of, and I ask that relevant diagnostic information be preserved. I turned the car on and a red battery shaped light appeared on the dash while I was in Park. I quickly looked up what the light meant as this was not the first time I've had a warning light show up. According to Ontario Hyundai website, it's a serious electrical issue that requires immediate attention. I attempted to move my car into a safe place and tried to shift the car into drive and it would only go into neutral. Then I noticed that the AC was blowing hot air even though it was at 65 degrees. I attempted to turn the car off and it would not; the dash flickered a bunch of lights but would not turn off. I continued to try to get the car into drive or reverse for 20 minutes and it would not change. After about 20 minutes, I was able to shut the car off. When I restarted it, I was able to shift into drive and get to a main road. I ultimately had to call a tow truck because it was not safe to drive. **sources Ontario Hyundai and Norman Hyundai; owners manual**

I was driving my vehicle and it suddenly lost all power. I had to stop in an unsafe place on the road and wait to get my car towed. I had previously been to the dealership three times to have recall and software updates done that we’re supposed to fix this issue. Apparently the ICCU to be a terrible problem.

On June 6, 2026 (mileage 2500) I went to my garage to get the car to go to an appointment. I could not start the car. A battery icon flashed, in red, on the screen behind the steering wheel. The 12V battery had drained overnight. This pattern occurred twice more -- on July 9, 2026 (mileage 3100) and again on August 29, 2026 (mileage 3600). On June 6, I called for Hyundai road assistance. The tow truck driver jump-started the car and drove it onto the tow truck. He took it to Elgin Hyundai. The mechanics were able to start the car and drive it around the block. They repeated this on the next day and declared the car fit to drive. On July 9 and August 29 the car would not start as on June 6. I left the car in the garage and drove off to my appointments in a friend's car.

My partner drove it towards location about 1 mile away. Partner had driven it about 3 miles each way just a few hours earlier. Also drove it about 5 hours earlier in the morning, then I drove it about 10 miles. I charged it at home L2 (6.8kW) successfully hours before partner drove it and experienced the problem. Partner said it had low power after starting, then expected power. Drove about 1 mile then the Stop Safely and Check Power Supply displayed on the dash. Partner pulled over and parked the car and contacted me. I contacted Hyundai Roadside Assistance to have the car towed to the dealership. AAA towing service driver was able to start the car and drive it onto the flatbed. Drop off was around 8pm. Next morning, the dealer's service associate called me. They said the car was dead. I described the "Stop Safely and Check Power Supply" message on the dash. Service advisor tested and their scan determined the ICCU had failed P1A9096. On service invoice: FURTHER EXAMINATION FOUND THE INTEGRATED CHARGING CONTROL UNIT HAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE, Service Advisor said the ICCU was replaced with a newer (Jan 2026) version, confirmed “bad ICCU and fuse” and replaced both: ICCU assembly (36400-1XAA0-A) and Fuse-High Voltage (375F2-GI040). Service advisor completed the replacement on the same day they received it 9/30/26 and I was able to pickup that afternoon.

The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) has failed repeatedly on this vehicle. It has been replaced three times by Haselwood Hyundai dealer since the vehicle was purchased new in 2021. Dates: 9/8/2023, 12/19/2024, 9/30/2025 at approximately 17k, 35k, and 50k miles. Each failure presents the same way: the ICCU stops charging the 12V battery from the high-voltage pack, the 12V drains, and warning messages appear on the dash: Check Electric Vehicle System. The vehicle then loses power or will not start and becomes inoperable [on numerous occasions the vehicle lost power/would not start at, leaving family occupants stranded. The vehicle also required jump starts on at least 25 occasions. Safety risk: an ICCU failure can disable the vehicle without meaningful warning. A loss of 12V power affects power steering assist, braking assist, hazard lights, and airbag readiness, and has left us stranded away from home as the car has to be jumped every time. Each failure was diagnosed and confirmed by a Hyundai dealer, which replaced the ICCU under warranty. Repair orders documenting all three replacements are available on request; the replaced units were retained by the dealer. The vehicle remains available for inspection. Despite three replacements, including under the ICCU recall and the extended warranty coverage Hyundai issued, the defect has recurred, which suggests the replacement units share the same defect as the original.

Vehicle was involved in a double fatal. After viewing of dashcam video I suspect a malfunction of the vehicle may have occurred. The video appears to show the vehicle continuously accelerating despite the sound of what may be the driver attempting to repeatedly mash on the brakes. EDR records do not coincide with the dashcam video.

The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) in my 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 failed while the vehicle was charging. The vehicle had been connected to a Level 1 charger for a multi-day charging session when it unexpectedly stopped charging before reaching the selected charge limit. After the failure, the vehicle could no longer successfully charge using either Level 1 or Level 2 charging. When connected to a charger, the vehicle would initially appear to begin charging, but charging would then stop and the dashboard would display an electrical-system warning instructing me to inspect the vehicle’s electrical system. There was no warning or indication of an impending ICCU failure before this occurred. This created a significant reliability and safety concern because the vehicle effectively lost its ability to AC charge. Had I driven to a destination expecting to recharge there without realizing the charging system had failed, I could have been stranded without sufficient range to continue driving. I brought the vehicle to a Hyundai dealership, where technicians diagnosed the problem as an ICCU failure. The dealership subsequently replaced the ICCU. My vehicle had previously received Hyundai’s ICCU-related software campaign/recall update. Despite having that update performed, the ICCU later failed and required physical replacement. I am submitting this complaint because the prior software remedy did not prevent the ICCU failure experienced by my vehicle.

Several times now (over 5), we have experienced issues where our car has briefly accelerated on its own and then either (a) braked hard on its own, too, or (b) the accelerator pedal stop working until we pull over, come to a complete stop, and either park or restart the car. We have experienced this multiple times on both surface streets and on highways. When this has happened on the highway, we've had to literally merge across multiple highway lanes so we can pull over or exit — all without being able to accelerate. This has happened to both of us as drivers, both alone and together, and both with the adaptive cruise control feature enabled and without it enabled. We have taken it to our local Hyundai dealer (Stevens Creek Hyundai) for inspection twice. Both times, they drove the car 100 miles and could not reproduce the issue, so told us there's nothing more they can do. We have insisted that this does not reproduce on demand; it is intermittent and has happened to us only once a month or so on average. They still said that unless they can reproduce it, they cannot fix it. They also asked us to record a video the next time it happens, but this is infeasible, since we'd have to be recording a video *constantly* while driving, since this issue is intermittent and happens randomly. We have multiple videos we've recorded immediately *after* an incident happens, after we've pulled over. No "check engine" light is on or anything else out of the ordinary. This has obviously been extremely scary and disturbing every time, especially as we also have a child. It feels extremely dangerous to keep driving this car.

I am writing to document my case regarding my leased 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT. Vehicle: 2025 Ioniq 5 XRT, VIN [XXX] Lease start / delivery date: Odometer: 4,368 miles Servicing dealer: Stevinson Hyundai, [XXX] Case number: XXX What happened: On Saturday, XXX, while I was driving, the vehicle displayed "Stop vehicle and check power supply" with the red 12V battery warning and the master warning light, and power was limited to approximately 25 mph. The high-voltage battery was at 66 percent. I was able to get the vehicle home at reduced speed, and Hyundai Roadside Assistance towed it to the dealer the same day. The symptoms are consistent with an ICCU failure, pending the dealer's diagnosis. Photos of the instrument cluster are attached. I consider a sudden loss of drive power at 4,368 miles to be a safety-related defect, and I have reported it to NHTSA. My situation: This is one of two vehicles in our household, and both of us need to get to work. The dealer is about 30 miles from my home. I am without transportation as of September 19. What I am requesting: 1. Written authorization for a rental vehicle starting immediately and continuing until my vehicle is repaired and returned, including the approved daily rate and how billing or reimbursement will work. 2. A parts availability check and estimated repair date as soon as the dealer confirms the diagnosis. 3. If the vehicle is out of service for an extended period, reimbursement of my lease payments for the time I cannot use it. 4. Confirmation of the warranty coverage that applies to the ICCU on this VIN, including any extended ICCU coverage. I am keeping a record of the days the vehicle is out of service, starting XXX. Please reply in writing so I have everything documented. Thank you for your help, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

We had a previous issue with our 12V battery not charging, which totally bricked the whole car. Hyundai updated the charge management system software under the active recalls and tested the 12V battery, which after it was fully charged they said was fine. Now (a few months outside our warranty period for the 12v battery), our car was bricked again and was so dead that we could not even start it/charge the battery with a jump start kit. We were stranded on the side of the road (where we had parked for an event we were attending) and the next day Hyundai towed the car to the nearest dealer (3 hours away). It took a week for them to even look at our car and diagnose it. When they did, they said the 12v battery had "just died" because "it was old". There were zero warnings about the 12v battery not charging before it died. There were zero DTC codes. They refused to replace the battery under any warranty/the previous recall and we ended up paying out of pocket. The more concerning thing is that they claimed "nothing is wrong with the charge management system" which is clearly not the case. Even older 12V batteries don't just die after leaving them for a few hours - especially to be SO dead that they can't even be revived. I no longer feel safe driving the vehicle anywhere that I can't get a cab ride - who knows when it will just decide to stop working?

Driving at highway speeds, the front end feels unstable. It feels as if the tires are jumping around and will move the car to the right or left. It is difficult to maintain control. I had it into the dealer shortly after I bought the car to complain about what I thought was a front end alignment problem. They didn't think there was an issue until they got it into the shop. They said afterwords that it WAS OUT OF LINE. But their fix did not hold, so I went in again for the one year maintenace and mentioned the problem, but they said it was not out of line. Well, The problem still exists. Something serious is wrong and needs to be fixed.
