ICCU failed while at highway speeds (65mph). Car went into 'turtle mode' limiting the car to 10mph. No warnings were provided prior to the incident. I was in the left of three lanes and had to make emergency actions to get to the Right shoulder across traffic. Traffic was obstructed. Was left stranded until a tow truck was available. Dealer confirmed ICCU failure.

While stopped at a stop light, "check electrical system" warning flashed on instrument panel without any prior warning or malfunction. I was only able to move the car about 50 feet before all power and controls failed. I was in a middle lane and was barely able to move the car out of traffic. Tow truck driver with a large jump start battery pack was able to give it enough power for me to crawl it onto their flatbed, my small lithium jumpstart pack was only enough to get the rest of its doors unlocked. Battery temperature was about 30 degrees F, state of charge 75 percent, had been driving from home less than 10 minutes, car had been sitting outside for a few days. Problem diagnosed as ICCU failure by dealer service department, now waiting on replacement part to complete repair.

I heard a popping sound from behind driver seat when I started the car. A few minutes later a dash warning showed up "stop vehicle and check battery state" followed by a complete loss of power on the road within 3 miles of reduced power driving (I was trying to find a safe spot to turn out of 6 lane road). Vehicle had to be towed to dealer who states the Integrated Charge Control Unit ICCU is not working and needs to be replaced. (i suspect the popping sound was related to that - ?blown fuse). The Part is on back order and has to be ordered from Korea and during the weeks long wait they do not have a loaner care to provide. This ICCU issue had a recall with software fix in 2025 which was performed on my vehicle. Why is Hyundai not fixing this problem for good. And why are they not providing me a loaner car?

The car became inoperable after a "Check EV" warning appeared. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. Fortunately I was able to avoid an accident. The dealer tells me that the ICCU (Integrated Charge Controller Unit) failed which was part of an earlier recall that I took the car in to the dealer for and they only updated software but now the related hardware has failed afterwards. This is something that is extremely unsafe if it happens while driving. Hyundai needs to correct this with an improved and safe ICCU.

While driving my 2023 Ioniq5 I got a warning on the dashboard about losing power and immedately the car slowed itself down to about 15 MPH, once I was able to get to a safe spot to pull over I stopped the car and it would not start again. I had it towed to the dealer and it has been a week and the ICCU is still on backorder. No idea when I will have the car back.

The ICCU stopped working while I was charging with level 2 overnight. DC fast charging still works but car failed to charge with level 1 or 2. Warranty repair. Car is in dealer for approx 4+ weeks.

ICCU failure. All recalls had been performed prior to failure. Vehicle showed the following warnings: "12 volt battery low", "stop safely", "check electric vehicle system", "stop vehicle and check power supply". Replaced 12-volt battery, still showing error messages, unable to be driven, required a tow to the dealer. OBD-II scan showed error P1A9096, confirmed by dealer as an ICCU malfunction.

The car stopped being able to charge on AC level 1 and level 2, only able to charge on DC Fast. Took it to the dealership and they diagnosed an ICCU failure, rendering it undriveable. The part is under warranty but is backordered. I have already been waiting for 14 days, and they have no update for when they'll get the part in.

The ICCU in my Hyundai Ioniq 5 failed catastrophically today ([XXX]) after only 3109 mlles. I believe this to be the case because: • I heard a loud pop from behind me in the car. • The car immediately lost power and would only go very slowly. • An alert about the electrical system immediately came on and told me to stop driving as soon as possible. • A rather loud alarm sounded. • DTC P1A9096 appeared in my Bluelink app. All these point to a failed ICCU. The ICCU chip failed. This chip communicates between the propulsion battery and the smaller, traditional 12v battery. The chip failed, and the car thinks the propulsion battery is dead. This is very common occurrence I have learned, the ICCU chip is continuously on back-order.

Jan 2, 2026. Vehicle made a popping sound and threw an error message. Took it to the dealer. Dealer diagnosed it with failed ICCU (integrated charge control unit?). Said that they had recently gotten 8 more failed units. Said that there are no more parts in stock in the US and Hyundai must manufacture and ship more. ETA is March but they are not sure. I do not believe Hyundai’s assertion that this only affect 2% of their EVs if they cannot keep parts in stock.

After a loud bang (fuse blown) the car was unable to move just before I was about to turn into an intersection. The ICCU failed for the second time, all warranty repair completed prior to the incident, first failure occurred in 2024. Both failures occurred close to a when the lead acid battery failed and needed replacement. When the car was stopped and started again, I was able to drive the car slowly to the dealership located less then 1/4 mile away. The car behaved as if there was no power steering but the car still jerked the wheel around to try to put me back into the driving lane presumably because I was driving in the emergency lane. Failed component was ICCU Module 36400-1XAA0. Vehicle was unsafe because I was unable to move while about to turn into an intersection. After stopping and starting the car, the was drive-able bit mildly erratic when attempting to move the car to a safe location (out of the left turning lane). Problem was identified, confirmed, and repaired by dealer under warranty for second time. Component and vehicle inspected by dealer. Failed part sent back to manufacturer. This incident occurred without any prior warning or indication by the vehicle. There were no active recalls on the vehicle at the time of the incident.

While driving in traffic I heard a loud pop coming from the rear of the vehicle. A warning light came on on the dash board and the vehicle immediately slowed to about 10 mph. This was a dangerous situation as I was actively passing a vehicle on the highway and could have ended up colliding with oncoming traffic!

We purchased the car less than a year ago. It is still under warranty. The ICCU failed while we were driving on a city street. Several warnings lit up on the screen, telling us to immediately pull over for safety because of an electrical failure. We waited 30m for a tow truck in below freezing weather. It was towed to the Hyundai dealership, and several days later they inspected it and confirmed it was a failure of the ICCU (a known problem with this make and model). Replacement parts are on indefinite backorder - so we have no idea when the car will be repaired and returned to us.
