While driving home, first "Check EV system" error came on and then "STOP VEHICLE - POWER SYSTEM FAILURE"; it was continuing to drive but would then not go above 25 mph. I pulled car over at next exit and had it towed to the dealership. It was not safe to drive at 25mph on a 45mph roadway. The dealership has confirmed problem with ICCU relay and 12V battery. This is the 2nd time this vehicle has had an ICCU problem.

ICCU failed while driving, car limited speed immediately. This was after software recall was preformed a few months prior. Car went limp mode and repairs are going to take an indefinite time.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P1A9096 in a Hyundai Ioniq 5 indicates a "DC/DC Converter Input Voltage Sensor Fault" within the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). No recall has been issued yet but this is a known problem.

My 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 has experienced two ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) failures, both completely immobilizing the vehicle. •First failure: November 2024 •Second failure: December 31, 2025 (confirmed by dealer 1/13/26) •Downtime: Over 45 days total •All recall work and maintenance were performed at the same Hyundai dealer, under active warranty, but the recall did not prevent the second failure. Safety Risk: These ICCU failures cause sudden loss of propulsion, leaving the vehicle stranded and creating a serious safety hazard. The second failure after recall indicates the repair is inadequate. Luckily mine failed at home before departing for an errand, but I am gravely concerned about others not as fortunate or for myself should the issue recur while I am traveling on a public road. Examples of this are reported online in a variety of forums. Widespread Issue: Thousands of owners report similar ICCU failures, often after recall repairs, on forums and social media. There is also ongoing Canadian litigation addressing the same defect. Requested Action: •Investigate repeated ICCU failures in Hyundai/Kia EVs •Evaluate the adequacy of recall repairs •Require Hyundai to implement a permanent fix •Take appropriate safety action to protect vehicle owners

This car (and many other Hyundai Ioniq5's) has stopped with very little warning twice in the two years that I have owned it. The first time was on a two lane highway with no shoulder. when it stopped there was no way to warn cars coming from behind because there was electricity at all and therefore no emergency flashers. This particular car is six months too old for the Washington State Lemon Law to apply. So far it has been reprogrammed twice and had the ICCU component replaced twice. I really don't think this car, and other Ioniqs with the same problem, on the road.

On [XXX] my Ioniq 5 stopped operating. It was totally dead. Could not be jumped. Car was towed to the dealership where they had replace the battery, ICCU and fuse. It took about two weeks for this to occur. The car had 3500 miles on it when this happened. Prior to the car not stopping an electrical warning light came on and the car speed was limited to 25 miles an hour but totally ran out of juice in about 10 minutes. I am writing to formally document a serious and ongoing safety concern with my 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL RWD Long Range Vehicle Information • Vehicle: 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL RWD Long Range • VIN: [XXX] • Purchase Date: January 2024 • Purchase Price: $44,139.80 Summary of Events • May 2, 2024 – Recall performed: DTC CHK ICCU FUSE RPL24-01-0234 at Casa Hyundai Las Cruces • March–April 2025 – Repeated 12V battery failures. After two visits to Casa Hyundai Las Cruces, I was told an app on my phone (El Paso Electric charging discount app) was “checking in” too frequently. I deleted the app, and the issue temporarily subsided. • December 20, 2025 – Vehicle would not start after sitting for approximately one hour. Required a jump start from USAA. • December [XXX] – Vehicle would not start again; service appointment scheduled. • December [XXX] – Vehicle was jump-started and driven toward Findlay Hyundai St. George. While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost power. I was able to pull off the freeway, but this was an extremely frightening and dangerous situation. I was fortunate that my husband was following me. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. As of now, still waiting on parts (ICCU replacement) with no date given on backorder. Intergrated Charging Control Unit has failed. This is a safety related issue because it’s failure can make the vehicle immediately inoperable which does not allow the driver any time to safely pull to the should have the roadway.

At power-on, the car's diagnostics alerted with DTC code P1A9096, indicating a failure of the Low voltage DC-DC converter / ICCU. Vehicle was parked at home at the time, but there is the distinct possibility of being stranted at an outstation or outside cellular / tow coverage. Vehicle was towed to an authorized service center for warranty repairs (the car is ~5 months from date of purchase)

Almost immediately after shifting into reverse in my garage, I heard a loud pop come from the back seat. The car began to flash warnings on the dash about the electrical system, which turned to an emergency error after about a minute. I ended up having the car towed to the dealer, who confirmed the ICCU blew. I had not had the car on a charger in over 2 weeks and it is only charged on a level 1 charger in my garage. It has now been 2 weeks since the dealer received my car and are claiming that the part is still on back order.

I have owned the car for less than 2 years and it has had 2 ICCU units put in it under warranty. I'm worried about the viability of the car after the warranty runs out. I would hope that given the problems with this component that Hyundai will help customers with this known problem.

With 3100 mileage, the car experienced an electric systems failure which resulted in the car no longer being functional. Towed to dealership where they officially stated a failure of the ICCU. Will have to wait days, possibly weeks for replacement part, but no guarantee this won't happen again.

The electrical system failed while driving and I could not accelerate more than 25 mph with two children in the car. The error message said stop car and evaluate power supply. My safety and my children's safety were put at risk as I was driving on a highway and could no longer accelerate above 25mph. Yes the problem was reproduced. Manufacturer is inspecting now. There was a warning light that appeared only while driving and when the initial probably began. The dealer told me this is ICCU failure, this is happening frequently, there is no timetable to get a replacement.

I was driving on the CA 405 SB, Long Beach, at about 6 PM 9/19/25. All of a sudden this loud screeching noise started. It was so loud that I pulled off on the left shoulder instead of driving to the first exit. I assumed I was going to find something wrapped around an axle or wheel or dragging from the ground. There was nothing hanging from the car, so I got back onto the freeway and parking the car ASAP did a more thorough inspection of the car. I got on my hands and knees looked with a the flashlight And saw nothing. I got online and found Hyundai TSB 25-01-056H explaining that IONIQ 5 built between 12.03.24 - 3.25.25 are missing a wave washer that can cause the MGDU housing to make noise. And the MGDU needs to be replaced. I should take it to a dealer to get it fixed. I left a message with the service dept at Kearny Mesa Hyundai, where I'd leased the car on June 2, 2025. I left a VM with the Service Dept requesting an appointment and the screeching noise is my car. I made a number of recordings of the noise so I could easily provide it later. The noise stopped when I got off the freeway and hadnt started again. When I took it in on 9.22.25. They said I would have to leave the car for at least two weeks before they could look at it. They wouldn't provide a loaner because my car was built in APR/2025 after 3.25.25. The SA suggested I try another dealer for faster service. I took it to Pedder Hyundai on 9.24.25. They kept it all day and "verified the complaint." My window was not fully up. I told them that this is absurd. I was told the dealer needs to verify the noise to get it fixed under warranty. On 10.19 the noise started I made more recordings & drove it straight to the dealer. They couldnt get someone to go for a ride and had to get appnt and bring it back. I took it in on 10.21 while driving there, and the noise returned. I called the Serv Rep. He heard it clearly How can I send you the recordings of the noise?

My car (a 2024 Ioniq, which I bought new exactly a year ago, and which has less than 12,000 miles on it) lost power on a busy road. I ended up having to get it towed to the dealership as it was not drivable. It’s currently at the dealership with a blown ICCU, which I’m told needs to be replaced. Apparently this part is on back order due to high demand & I do not have access to my vehicle for at least 2 weeks. Upon doing research, it seems that this is an extremely common problem for the Hyundai Ioniq. NHTSA has the ICCU failure rate as 1% but per my dealership, in their experience, it is 6-7%, which is appallingly high. I am very surprised and disappointed to see that there has been no recall ordered for this part.

- #11709710January 8, 2026LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
The Lane Keeping Assist works well and is very useful. Unfortunately it is combined with the infrared eye monitor system, which is very flaky and does not work well with prescription glasses when sunlight comes in from the front or side. It provides many false warnings, but cannot be turned off without losing the Lane Keeping Assist. If I drive without my glasses, it works fine, but it seems counter-productive to make me lose a good functioning system by tying it to a flaky not-useful monitor.
