After having service done for the past two ICCU recalls months and months ago, I’m driving along today and hear the loud pop that everyone else reports. My car immediately went to a reduced power state where I was able to limp a bit further until I lost all power. I had to have the vehicle towed (by a wheel lift/dolly equipped wrecker - do not allow a flatbed they’ll drag your car into the truck) to the nearest dealership and now await to hear how long I’ll have to be without it.

While driving vehicle it flashed warning to check battery and power was severely reduced, limited to about 25 mph. Battery and EV warning triangle appeared. Then within less then a minute it brought up additional warning to "Stop Vehicle and Check Power Supply" and power was further reduced to less than 10-15 mph. Car now also displayed turtle icon. After safely getting to parking spot vehicle began to shut off critical systems or displays intermittently before eventually fully shutting itself off.

After pre warming the car in the garage, I left for work. Three minutes into the drive I heard a single popping sound from the passenger side rear of the car. I then received an error on the dash "Stop Vehicle and check power supply". I them drove 4 more miles to work with the hazards on. Two hours later I attempted to drive it to the dealer and it stopped .5 miles away. Hyundai had it towed the rest of the way.

My BRAND NEW car is suffering an ICCU issue. I first noticed the screens going completely black while driving. I then noticed that I can’t charge at all on Lvl 1 and Lvl2 chargers (AC), but I went to the dealership and the helped me charge on lvl 3 DC fast charging. This is an incredibly dangerous problem, if this results in my 12V battery dying, I could be stranded while driving.

The Integrated Charging Control Unit in our 2025 Ioniq 5 failed on vehicle startup. Fortunately the vehicle was parked when the part failed. There were no issues or symptoms prior to the failure and subsequent fault message. Failure of the ICCU has been confirmed by our local Hyundai dealer which is now in possession of the vehicle awaiting repair.

Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failure at 16,000 miles in 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5. Car was turned on and started to drive and sign said Power System Failure. Then it said Stop Vehicle Immediately. Car would not accelerate but I was close to home. I had it towed to Hyundai and they said it is an ICCU failure and they have no ETA when the part will come in.

The ICCU failed while I was merging onto the highway to take my 15 month old daughter to daycare. I received a warning message “Stop vehicle and check power supply” and the car entered “limp mode” slowing down considerably in the middle of traffic. A turtle icon also appeared on the screen to tell me the vehicle could only move slowly. I was able to pull off into a parking lot. The car battery died. It was 10 degrees F outside. Hyundai towed it to the dealer where they confirmed ICCU failure. The recall software update took place in December 2025. The dealer doesn’t expect to have ICCU replacement parts in stock for 1-2 months due to back order and 10 other ioniq5s are there waiting for the same fix. The vehicle is likely available for inspection by NHTSA if the dealer service center allows access.

Electrical system warning light came on and said to shut the car off immediately. The car was parked at the time and I was trying to start it. The 12V battery would not hold a charge after multiple items and the car was inoperable. The dealer has yet to provide any information but hinted at a likely ICCU issue.

Unknown or ICCU car constantly has 12v battery probably and requires a jump start 1 to 2 times a month. The dealership can diagnose the issue cause the problem has to happen at the dealership and they can't replicate it. I've left my car there for 2 weeks and they couldnt replicate it. When I get it back, with in 2 weeks the car has the 12 volt issue and then fails. We tried to do what the dealership asks, tow it in, but that can't be done without the battery being reset and then they can't replicate the error.

The ICCU component failed. I lost propulsion while driving and almost got rear ended. The dealership service department confirmed the ICCU issue. The dealership service department has inspected the vehicle. I had a dead 12v a month prior that I had asked the service department to look at and test the ICCU. They did not test the ICCU. The car warned me 30 seconds maybe less before i lost propulsion.

Warning light came on stating that we needed to have the electrical system checked asap. Vehicle would not charge from Level 2 charger. It needed to be towed from our house to the dealer to get its ICCU replaced since there was a risk that it would no longer power vehicle on 4 mile drive to dealer for repair. Problem was fixed in one week by Roseville Hyundai by replacing the ICCU in the vehicle

While driving, a warning message displayed on the dashboard stating that there was a fault in the electrical system and that I should pull over and stop the car. As I tried to find a safe place to pull over the car lost power and I pulled onto the shoulder. The shoulder was only as wide as the car. I was stopped on the side of a two lane road with a 55 mph speed limit. In order to exit the car I had to step into the travel lane. The electrical fault resulted in no power available to the warning flasher lights or headlights. This occurred at night with no street lighting to show oncoming drivers that there was a stopped vehicle immediately next to the traffic lane. This put me and other drivers at risk. The vehicle was towed to a dealer capable of working on this type of failure. The dealer determined that the failed component is known as the ICCU. This is a critical part and had been known to fail in this model. My vehicle had already received every software update in an attempt by the manufacturer to avoid the ICCU failure. The dealer replaced the failed ICCU with a new working ICCU. It is my understanding that the replacement ICCU is identical to the failed ICCU and a risk remains that the new one could fail as well with a loss of power while driving at speed.

The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) component of the 2025 Hyundai Ionic 5 with less than 6 months and 5,081 miles of driving failed. This failure was noted by the warning systems in the car indicating car needed to be stopped and not driven. (Photo attached in later section) Further information indicated a very limited distance to drive before complete car shutdown late at night. The ICCU component failure has been confirmed by the dealership service department where the car was purchased. No warnings were noted before the ICCU failure. This ICCU component failure seems to be common enough to be a known failure, but the frequency has not been made public.

Backing out of a parking space, I heard a loud pop sound from the back of the cabin. A electrical warning showed in the dash to check the charging system. The vehicle was limited to 22 mph and I limped home. Just short of getting home, a warning alert sounded and the dash displayed an alert to stop the vehicle and park. Vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed it as an ICCU failure.

I first noticed something was wrong when the car only charged to 90% even though I set it to 100%, since I wanted it ready for the storm. I drove normally after that. When I tried to charge again, the breaker tripped. L1 charging also tripped the breaker. V2L didn’t work either. The weird part: the orange light was still on, and it was still charging the 12V battery multiple times. I have a battery monitor and everything looked normal. I was also able to drive the car to the dealer with no issues at all. No warning lights or errors on the dashboard. Dealer diagnosed it as an ICCU failure. Part is on backorder with no ETA 🤷♂️🤷♂️
