I am reporting a potential safety defect involving the seatbelt, airbag, and occupant detection system in my 2019 BMW 430i. At the time of purchase, the vehicle’s software had not been updated since 2018. Because the software was so outdated, multiple safety-related fault codes did not appear during the dealer’s pre-sale inspection or during initial diagnostic checks. During a later service appointment, the dealership informed me that they were unable to perform accurate diagnostics because the software was old and could interfere with sensor readings. After I paid for the software update, several safety-related codes appeared, including faults connected to the seatbelt/occupant classification system. None of these safety defects were disclosed to me prior to the sale. This raises concern that the vehicle had an existing safety defect at the time of sale, but the outdated software prevented the detection and reporting of these faults. If other vehicles are being sold without current software, this may result in safety-critical issues being hidden from consumers and inspectors. A malfunctioning seatbelt or occupant detection system significantly increases injury risk in a crash. If outdated vehicle software suppresses or fails to display safety-critical faults, consumers may unknowingly be operating unsafe vehicles.

Due to the severity of the current safety recall i am reaching out for BMW to supply a correction/remedy for the starter issue. This issue is causing added anxiety and this being my only reliable transportation is troublesome. If they are unable to fix the issue I am asking that they buy the car back so people can get other vehicles that don't run the risk of spontaneously combusting.

The rear vision camera deactivated itself when the park assist system is turned off. No image is provided to the driver. This makes it harder to see what is behind the vehicle when reversing and could lead to an accident. This can occur in the middle of a reversing event.

Rear window does not work. This car collects water from the windows which pools inside the window panel. Eventually, the pooled water damages the window motor and window regulator. Once the window stops working, the convertible top no longer works. This issue is reported all over youtube and google searches. The worse part is that to fix this, mechanics have to manually bring down the convertible top. The airbags did not deploy upon impact from head on collision into another vehicle. The vehicle was towed and the other vehicle’s airbags did deploy that was involved in the collision. There was a police report filed & the insurance company has picked up the vehicle for them to complete an inspection & evaluation.

- #11690335September 29, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
We were driving on a local road and saw the car ahead parked at the traffic light. We began to brake from a safe distance. The car began slowing but instead of coming to a full stop, the brake resisted, the car made an odd sound, and instead the car accelerated into the car in front of us. The Tesla in front captured the odd behavior of the vehicle on camera. BMW will perform diagnostics.

We were driving the vehicle on a vacation, and am error came on that the gear was malfunction and parking will disable vehicle. At this fine, we kept trying to clear the message to be able to view navigation, and error message kept coming back making it impossible to drive. We then parked the vehicle and had vehicle towed. Tow could not put car in neutral, and had to physically pull vehicle on to flatbed. Service advisor said water from cup holder area got into the controller.

It is at the dealership, Wesley chapel BMW, they sent me a message that it won’t be ready today because there is recall and an issue but they have not told me what it is. I was researching and i saw what’s called “sudden unintended acceleration.”

On my way home driving, my car dashboard and LCD screen give me a warning of overheating and engine oil pressure too low. Car stalled on stalled soon after, and started smoking. So I had the car towed and was told from bmw dealership, I had to get a new engine. I have kept up on my oil change and maintenance and never got these warning signs until now. I did mr research and found out from Kelly blue book and other websites such Dealer Rater that bmw same year make and model have a few recalls including engine cooling and crankshaft sensor malfunction. The bmw mechanic advise the coolant and oil holder made of plastic melted down into the engine and engine needs to be replaced. However, there have been reports states that other have experience the same thing with bmw cars. This should not have happened when much warnings was not given and how ironic same year make and model had the same issue and recall was issued. I have screen shots to prove it.

I owned a 2020 BMW 430i (VIN: [XXX] ) manufactured in March 2019 at the Regensburg plant. This vehicle matches the exact criteria of NHTSA Recall 19V-352 for defective knee airbags that may fail to deploy in an accident. I was involved in a serious crash on [XXX], and the airbags did not deploy. Despite this, my VIN is not showing as included in the recall. I am submitting this as a potential VIN exclusion error that may have resulted in harm and needs urgent investigation. I have documentation of the vehicle's production date, model match, and accident details. I also suffered significant psychological trauma as a result of this failure, which escalated due to the lack of explanation at the time.
