TIRES
One year after purchasing this new vehicle, the two rear tires were worn to 4/32nds. The dealer advised they need to be replaced. I am [XXX], with no accelerated starts or hard braking, so after one year and 7,500 miles, the rear tires were up for replacement. The dealer reluctantly did a forced balance, which I paid for and BMW Corporate reimbursed. They did not do anything for toe/camber. I do not know if they were out of spec from the factory for balance, toe/camber/alignment or if the tires were faulty. The dealers' only guidance was to replace. So I went to a Firestone dealer and had the tires replaced 255/35R19 96Y for $200 less than the BMW dealer wanted to sell them. The contact owns a 2026 BMW 430I. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stopped and independently parked. Several warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to two dealers; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was taken to a third dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed engine electrical system, digital motor electronic control unit, and transfer case failure. The contact was informed that the transfer case and basic control unit DME needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 7,819.

SEATS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
While driving at highway speed on [XXX] I went to put my windows up. Without touching anything else my seat moved backward and I was unable to reach either pedal. Fortunately I was able to maneuver to a point where I was able to regain vehicle control. Obviously this was a life threatening situation which could have been disastrous. There was no auto correction by the vehicle. This was reported to BMW of Barrington , IL and serviced on XXX. No specific explanation has been provided. This is just one of many issues with this vehicle that appear to be related, and escalating in severity. I can't determine how they are related, if at all. I don't trust the safety of this vehicle and am not convinced BMW to date has performed a complete root cause analyses from the date the vehicle was put in service. This is the third Check Engine, Drive train malfunction, Power Supply error messages popped up. Dealership replaced the battery at the first visit, replaced the starter at the second visit. Error messages appeared one week after the second visit to the dealership.

Risk is stated as follows: vehicle may catch on fire while operating or also while parked when engine is not running. So instructed to park vehicle outside garage. Recall No 26V-056 Engine Starter BMW 430i year 2022. Purchased at Fields BMW Daytona.

The recall was issued more than 8 months ago but the remedy is still not yet available, which is very concerning as the problem may cause the event of fire even when the vehicle is parked. Issued SEP 23, 2025 Description of Problem It is possible for water to contact and enter the engine starter. This could lead to corrosion which could cause a short circuit. Safety Risk This could increase the risk of a thermal event or fire during driving or even when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is off.

SEAT BELTS
I purchased my 2023 BMW 430i, coupe, X-Drive brand new on 04/14/2023 from BMW, Wesley Chapel Florida. On 05/14/2025, I observed my driver's side front seat belt to be extremely frayed and in an unsafe condition (see photo 05142025) and reported it to BMW Wesley Chapel immediately. The service manager advised me this was very unusual and he has never seen this condition before, but explained BMW Warranty will likely call it "normal wear and tear." The vehicle is under factory warranty for 5 years or 50K miles and it should be noted at the time of this incident the vehicle had 34,758 miles. BMW Wesley Chapel then offered a "one time goodwill replacement" for the seat belt as they could not figure out what caused this safety issue (seat belt only replaced). On 06/08/2025, uncertain mileage, I returned to BMW Wesley Chapel as the driver's side front seat belt began fraying for the second time since replacement (see photo 06082025). Again, they could not determine the causation for the fraying, but replaced the extender arm and the damaged seat belt. On 02/08/2026, at approximately 45,000 miles, I returned to BMW Wesley Chapel as the driver's side front seat belt began fraying for the third time (see photo 02082026). The "Service Tech Expert" as I was informed, was unable to determine the cause and the seat belt was not replaced and described it as normal wear and tear. I was advised if it got worse to return. I was also advised by my service advisor that he had another customer with the same exact problem with the same exact vehicle. Research has shown, this is becoming noted safety issue by BMW drivers (see below screenshot photos). I am currently on my third seat belt in three years and concerned BMW will not replace the belt or fix the problem. I am under factory warranty for approximately 1 more year and 4K additional miles. BMW USA has been advised and will not provide information regarding seat belt life spans or related issues.

I received a recall notice dated 9/23/2025. The recall is listed as URGENT safety issue that could cause a fire. The notice instructs not to drive the car or park in garage. It has been over 6 months now and there is still no fix. I am requesting the manufacture buyback my vehicle.

The contact owns a 2021 BMW 430I. The contact stated that the front driver’s side seat belt chest strap was shredded. The contact was concerned that the seat belt would not safely secure the driver in a crash. The contact stated that the shredded seat belt strap might have been caused by the seat belt strap touching the seat belt retractor while pulling the seat belt buckle up. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who indicated that the seat belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was13,300.

2022 BMW 430i xDrive Rear Differential leak and required complete replacement. My vehicle had less than 69,000 miles at the time and my mechanic stated that this was the second 2022 BMW that had to have a differential replaced. This issue was first confirmed by the BMW dealership December 2025 but my vehicle's warranty just expired (less than 500 miles over the warranty). The mechanic mentioned that it's highly unusual to need a differential replaced. They usually last the lifetime of the vehicle especially with my car being a 2022.

There are hundred of restraint system malfunctions in BMWs especially the 2020 to 2022. To a catastrophic hard impact collision to a fender bender could result in life altering injuries, paralysis, and death. I bought this vehicle to feel safe when driving. I am afraid to let me nineteen year old son drive it because if there is any kind of collision he or any passenger in the car would not be protected and this is covered by federal law. This needs to be recalled or I am going viral with what is going on and your agency is supposed to be number one to contact to make these automakers fix these. This is life or death.

The component that malfunctioned is the engine starter relay, which is subject to an open BMW/NHTSA safety recall (issued September 2025) due to potential corrosion causing overheating, short circuits, and vehicle fire risk. The recall specifically advises parking the vehicle outside and away from structures until repaired. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.My safety and the safety of my family were put at risk because the dealership (Capitol Nissan in San Jose) failed to disclose this critical fire-risk recall before or during the sale on January 4, 2026, despite it being noted on the provided Carfax report (without any explanation of its severity). I only learned of the fire hazard and "park outside" warning when an authorized BMW dealer informed me during an inspection on January 5, 2026.The recall issue has been confirmed by an authorized BMW dealer on January 5, 2026.The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized BMW dealer, but not yet by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives.There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms that I noticed prior to purchase, as the problem is related to a latent defect covered by the recall. The issue was UNKNOWN to me until the BMW dealer informed me after the purchase.In addition, the dealership engaged in other fraudulent practices, including structuring my full cash payment as self-financed (with themselves as both seller and creditor) and adding unauthorized charges, but the primary safety concern prompting this report is the undisclosed fire-risk recall.
