The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while idle at a stop light the auto start/stop feature activated however when attempting to accelerate, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle then went into lockdown mode where all systems were deactivated. The police were contacted and assisted in merging the vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was placed in the park while they waited for the tow truck to arrive. When the tow truck arrived the vehicle was not able to be placed back into neutral to move onto the flatbed. The tow truck was able to tow the vehicle onto the flatbed despite the rear wheels being locked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but had not been diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,100.

The only way to adjust the advanced driver assistance systems (ADSA) in my 2022 compass is VIA a defective radio that continually resets as per Mopar Case number [XXX] from August 2023. according to the bulletin this was supposed to have been fixed via a software update in the 4th quarter of 2023. repeated calls to the mopar wave 800-334-9200 only to be disconnected as soon as i give them the case number 4 times today. My car is constantly burning about 4 quarts of oil in 2 months. It stalled on me 2 months ago, 2 months after an oil change because there was no oil in my car and I do not have a leak. it is a safety issue if my motor blows up or my car just stalls on me in the middle of the highway. I have had it inspected to see if there were any leaks. I only got a low oil pressure signal after I would make a turn.

- #11631608December 19, 2024STEERING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
I am having a persistent issue with this vehicle involving the lane keep assist and pedestrian collision sensor. This issue has been present since purchasing the vehicle in December of 2021. I have had it in to two separate dealers a total of 6 times with no solution yet. The issue occurs when traveling down the road above 35 with the active lane assist enabled. Intermittently the vehicle will act as if there is a significant steering misalignment and the vehicle will attempt to pull you out of your lane into other lanes and you have to fight the steering assist in order to not depart your lane. Some times with the issue the car will throw a code stating "Active Lane Management (ALM) Unavailable Service Required" and turn the ALM off. The dash light will stay illuminated until the next key cycle and then disappear. The other issue with this system occurs when taking a 90 degree turn. The vehicle will throw the same error message and turn off the ALM and intermittently with also disable the pedestrian collision avoidance system which will remain off until I go into the settings and turn it back on. The dealerships have replaced the BCM, Steering Wheel, and Steering Wheel control module. There have been no actual solutions provided and this issue remains active. I do not want this to cause an accident one day when the issue occurs and the driver is unable to correct the vehicles mistake.

The start/stop has been an ongoing issue for awhile now. It's been to the dealer multiple times for this issue. The vehicle will sometimes just stop while moving or will not start at a light. Each time requires the vehicle being placed in park, turning off the vehicle, restarting the vehicle, and releasing the parking brake and finally shifting into gear. This is dangerous to have this happening in traffic. Jeep seems to not care about these concerns.

I been having a problem as I noticed it’s been seen multiple times with a jeep compass well mine is a 2021 jeep compass trail hawk. The car will shut off and say high coolant temp when that’s not the problem. The car is not hot and there is no problem with it just lose power and have no control over the car. It shuts off when I’m driving on the highway has left me stranded multiple times. Almost got hit turning on to the highway and it died as I was turning with a car head on. This is so unsafe. The car has been in the shop multiple times they replace stuff say it’s fixed it’s not and happens the minute I drive off. I been stuck in the middle of the lane with oncoming traffic’s and almost been hit. The dealership seams to not know what’s wrong with it and it’s so unsafe to be driving around in. Along with the many other people who have had the same problem. This is dangerous and keep should not be selling unsafe cars.

My headlights only work on random occasions. The bulbs don’t need replacing so it seems electrical. I can’t drive at night now because I never know if I’ll be able to see or not with this issue.

My [XXX] mother (JEEP enthusiast) bought a 2025 JEEP Compass. One week after she bought it the RPM light started flashing. The dealer stated the main computer (electrical system) completely failed. There is no stability in the car. There's no braking system, no power steering, no cruise control, no nothing, the seat moves without her adjusting it, the automatic dimmer switch turns on without user intervention - the JEEP is a complete lemon. It is UNSAFE to drive. It's like an octopus without a head. They said they'd buy it back from her for $14,000 LESS than she paid - a week ago. The part is on back order. She recently moved interstate and is forced to between states - 5 hours each way. I am beyond livid. She's been a lifelong JEEP owner who has been treated horribly by this company. What is the recourse??? She bought it [XXX] and has 4,000 miles on it. What can we do? INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11628513December 3, 2024ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact's daughter owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. While the contact’s daughter was driving at various speeds, the RPM started fluctuating, the vehicle stalled, and lost power steering functionality. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact's daughter was unable to pull over to the side of the road. The contact's daughter was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving. Additionally, the contact stated that while her daughter was driving 65 MPH at night, the failure recurred. The vehicle was restarted after 15 minutes, and the vehicle was driven to the residence. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V907000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

- #11628344December 2, 2024ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN, AIR BAGS
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, both the driver and passenger side rear windows would roll down independently. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would stall as several warning lights would appear on the instrument panel. The contact called the dealer about the failure and was given an estimate for a diagnostic. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who failed to diagnose the failure. The contact then stated that while driving in inclement, icy weather; the vehicle began to slide upon the depression of the brake pedal while approaching a stop light. As the vehicle began to slide, the vehicle shut off without warning. The contact lost complete control of the vehicle as the vehicle crashed into a light pole. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed and the light pole was knocked down as a result of the impact. The vehicle was towed from the scene to the contact's grandmother's home where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.

The steering has a very sharp plastic that can make cut to the hands while driving and cause an accident. It looks like the finish of the plastic was not done correctly so when you touch those two molding it feels sharp. Maybe the pictures does not show but definitely needs to be checked with someone put their hands on the wheel on the side steering wheel

I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with my 2022 Jeep Compass. I purchased my Jeep Feb 2023. In May 2024 my issues started and have not stopped or been able to be diagnosed by 2 different dealers after 4 times of them having my car. My check engine light started and then the non stop issues with the center screen and dashboard flashing on and off. The screens change showing all errors and warnings.c The radio shuts off whenever it wants. Now the car shuts off when it wants. First time I was at a stop sign, it turned off and would not go back on for almost 2 minutes. The 2nd time I was yielding and it shut down. I had to put the car in park and hit the ignition button a few times before it started. On 1 visit I was told that the mechanic did a computer update but I had to let him take it home that night. When I refused I was told to come get it and they didn't touch it. On the last visit which was 10 days I was told there is nothing wrong with my car. Jeep called me 2 days later and stated "maybe they would give me a small discount for a new one" As a loyal Jeep customer, I expect better service and prompt resolution of the significant safety issues.

The uconnect radio/screen has been malfunctioning for 4+ months. It began with small streaks throughout the screen and glitchy radio play. It elevated to half the screen being black and the other half being streaky. Now it is fully black and will not come in. I have viewed countless Jeep forums and this is a problem for THOUSANDS. The dealership said a new radio system plus labor is >$1000 for something that should obviously be recalled.

Unknown but the vehicle only has 30,000 miles and the back up camera is mostly blacked out. I feel is is a safety concern Jeep isn't fixing even out of warrenty or acknowledging. After reading numerous forums on this problem, there are quite a few yr models that are affected. The cost to replace a screen is so much. Also the u joints went bad and the dealer said it's a flaw also and I paid to have replaced under 30,000 miles. The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine overheated. The coolant temperature indicated that the engine was overheating. In addition, the contact became aware of smoke coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the contact was informed that the failure was not duplicated. The following day, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed by both independent mechanics that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
