When driving my Jeep Compass, there have been numerous instances of the vehicle stalling out when slowing down or stopping at a light/stop sign. This has happened on busy roads, at busy intersections, and on country roads. When it happens, I cannot control any aspect of the vehicle; the breaks no longer work, I cannot turn the wheel, I cannot change gears or easily put it into park, and it takes multiple attempts to turn it off and back on. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the incidents occurring, which started on 4/22/2025. Today, 4/29/2025, I checked my oil level and found that it was extremely low, although it should not be and I'm not yet due for an oil change. The Jeep Compass is going through more oil than usual and there is no message or notification showing at any time. I believe that this is the cause of the issues, and makes it extremely unsafe for myself, my passenger and other drivers/vehicles as it has happened on the highway and at intersections, where it could easily result in a serious accident.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the message to service the START/STOP system was displayed. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the emergency brake activated independently. The contact had to press the START button again for the vehicle to move. The contact stated that there was an A within a circle around displayed, indicating that the START/STOP system warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

SEAT BELTS
The seat belts on both sides of the rear seats have frayed completely through the belt webbing at the same exact point. Where the belts connects to the retractor I believe is the name of it. Both belts are entirely separated at the point where they pass through the outer wall. If my inspection station didn't notice the problem on the passenger rear they would not have looked at the driver's side rear which was not completely separated and any occupant could have seriously been hurt. The Dealership inspected them and confirmed the damages described above and the manufacturer (Jeep) also was notified of this defect. They were no warning signs.

My start/stop system stopped working suddenly and it jerks forward almost stalling as it accelerates and decelerates. The radio glitches and flips between settings at a fast pace. It randomly loses power when accelerating and traction control flashes on dashboard. The check engine light came on for a few days then went off.

we purchased the car in Jan of 24 (lease) - for my 16 year old. wanted a SAFE car that was reliable. We had issues since the start - the interior goes black - nothing inside the car works but it still drives. No blinkers, no back up camera, not heat, no radio, no lights - nothing - it has been in the shop 6 times. Well over 30 days and nothing has fixed the same problem. Jeep has not worked with us on a solution. AWFUL customer service. we have asked for the lemon law buy back - no follow up or explanation. Looking for ANY help we can get. This car has been awful/ this has been happening the whole time - but most recent was when we brought it in on 4/4 - and still do not have the car back.

Car is equipped with a backup camera, but unfortunately, the infotainment screen is failing, and the rearview camera is distorted and unable to provide clear rear visibility. This is a common problem with these, and I suspect it is a failed cooling fan for the infotainment unit. It is only a matter of time that the screen will be a complete failure and hopefully not during a reversing evolution. My vehicle only has 60k miles. I have not taken it to the dealer because I do not have another vehicle to drive if this is in the shop for 2 weeks just to be inspected. Feel free to investigate my vehicle for this issue.

Vehicle: 2019 Jeep Compass Mileage (approx): 84,000 miles Issue Type: RANDOM - Electrical failure causing loss of power, brake lock, steering disablement Car is currently at an auto electric shop but can be available if needed. Description of Issue: I’ve been experiencing a recurring and dangerous issue with my 2019 Jeep Compass since around 2021. Every 6–8 months (sometimes more frequently), the vehicle suddenly lights up with every warning signal (check engine, brakes, power steering, airbag, traction, ABS, etc.). The brakes lock up, the power steering shuts down, and the car either dies immediately or will not restart for hours or even days. The issue is completely random and happens whether the car is driving or idling. There’s no apparent correlation with temperature, mileage, or usage. It happens when I'm at a red light, parked and my last incident happen the highway with both my boys in the car. (age [XXX] and [XXX] ) I’ve taken the car to the dealership a couple times, including having it towed in when it would not start. However, by the time they inspect it, the car resets itself, and I’m told they “can’t find the problem.” They’ve held it for weeks without results. This issue is not only unpredictable but highly dangerous. Losing steering and braking while on the road creates serious safety risks for myself, my family, and other drivers. From my own research and symptoms, this could be related to the TIPM or BCM malfunctioning — both of which I’ve read are common in Jeep models. The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle was losing motive power. The contact stated the message that "Engine Overheating" was displayed with an audible chime coming from the vehicle. The vehicle stalled and the contact pulled off the roadway. The contact stated that after several attempts the vehicle restarted with the same message displayed on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure was like two previous failures where the engine was replaced. The contact stated that the engine replacements were covered under Technical Service Bulletin Number: 09-003-23 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact informed the dealer about the TSB and was informed by the dealer responded that the engine could be replaced but the contact had to pay out-of-pocket. The manufacturer had been attempted to be contacted but there was no response. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

Theres a few issues with this car Im a mechanic and ive done some research on this vehicle there are multiple safety concerns including the engine for the 2.4L losing power while trying to accelerate, the abs system failing and electrical system throwing codes up that aren't actually an issue. I feel the whole car needs to be reassessed from the engine transmission all sensors and the brake system. There is a lot of issues with the new motor that was put in, including an issue with the 2.4L motor which is the oil pump housing causing the vehicle to stall and to lose power while accelerating. This is a major safety concern and could kill someone. Please fix it.

Batteries are constantly draining causing multiple failures with no warning such as hill assist, traction control, abs, steering, brake, 4 wheel drive and turn signal lights. I have had to replace both batteries every year since purchasing the vehicle. Date is happened is the most recent event. This happens yearly. The car will start violently shaking and loud clunking

I recently got the catalytic converter and 02 sensor swapped which removed the check engine light. My vehicle was running perfect. The I drive it today. Made a right turn, next thing you know the vehicle starts shaking and such and won’t go over 20 mph. I take it to the mechanic. They’re telling me the reader isn’t picking up the problem. Invalid data. I looked online and multiple people are having the same problem. My thing is I was overcharged charged 25,000 for this vehicle from Sam at jeep, Chrysler, dodge on route 300 Newburgh New York 2 years ago.

Turn signal does not cancel. Intermittent problem that occurs infrequently. Safety concern because turn signal may signal for one direction when driving the car to the opposite direction. I am reluctant to pay about $250 to dealer to diagnoise because issue is intermittent. Dealer refuses to note complaint on customer records without diagnosis. I called customer care and reported issue, 4/15/25 case # 92675100. Customer care requested to have dealer diagnose, but I explained that issue is intermittent and difficult to reproduce.

While driving my vehicle the parking brake engaged itself and my vehicle stopped suddenly without me engaging the brakes. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they stated it was an issue with the emissions system that caused the vehicle to do an “emergency stop”. I paid the amount required by the warranty and they stated they fixed the issue. However, while driving in the freeway (approximately 75 mph), the vehicle began to have the same issue and began to stop while I was driving. My daughter and myself were in the vehicle, during high traffic and we were fortunate not to be hit while driving when this happened. I have contacted the dealership again to have them inspect the vehicle again. I am concerned there is a manufacturing issue that is causing this problem and I am afraid to drive my vehicle especially with my children in the car.
