FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
So I know there was a recall for this year make and model and engine type and even before I knew about this recall I noticed this jeep is burning oil like crazy I have to get an oil change sometimes under every 3,000 miles and its bad I take it to my oil change place they tell me it shouldnt be burning this much oil. I called Jeep to try to see if they could fix it and they are not acknowledging the issue even though there is a recall for this issue in the past they are not adding my VIN for some reason in the recall and my jeep is still under warranty. Please assist in getting my jeep compass added to this recall so they can remediate the safety issue. I will be driving sometimes on the highway and the cheap just stops on me because of this issue. I have two young children and it is very dangerous at times to drive like that. The Carfax can show how often I am taking my Jeep to an oil change so it is not that I am the issue and just not getting oil changes. This has been happening since i purchased the jeep.

I was driving down the road going about 40mph. The car stopped abruptly and displayer low coolant warning. Car would not restart. I towed it to a local mechanic who replaced the auxiliary battery. Car has been working and hasn't shut off but warning lights sometimes pop up for a split second. I'm worried it's going to happen again while driving.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, and the Auto Stop system activated and the vehicle unintendedly stopped. The contact stated that the transmission failed to respond as needed and the vehicle had to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on several occasions where it was diagnosed and determined that the alternator was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred immediately. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer, and it was determined that the vehicle needed to be driven for several miles to correct the failure. The failure reoccurred and the vehicle was taken to the same dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the main battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer however, the cause for the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 300.

My car shut off and wouldn’t start it said the asc failed I took it to the dealership they did a diagnostic test said my aux battery level was low need replaced I replaced that my engine light is still on I have to put it on a battery charger everyday so I can go to work then it wouldn’t start at work I needed someone to give me a jump it’s stills said I needed mine esc service and it saying my temperature is too high it only has 58.884 miles on it I wish I never got this jeep I bought it brand new and I had to replace both front tire rod ends I’m beyond upset it also said my car was not in park when it was it wouldnt start I overrided the gear shift but it still wouldn’t start

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that when the vehicle was parked at a store front in the evening, both headlights were operational. The contact returned and restarted the vehicle; however, the driver's side headlight was inoperable. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the headlight and the electrical connectors and harness had melted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that after the headlight failure, the vehicle was difficult to start one morning. The contact stated that the instrument cluster and the overhead map lights were flashing off and on. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

I had to get my engine replaced a year after I got it. The vehicle has an overheating issue. The vehicle oil pressure sensor goes off. The emergency break comes on. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and added water to the coolant reservoir. Additionally, the contact stated that the engine was not running properly while driving. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that there was a burned coolant mark underneath the engine. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The car's dashboard will periodically show all the lights and indicate that the car will stop. In some cases, the car does stop, and you lose power steering. When we brought it into the dealership in early April 2024, they cleared the codes and indicated that start/stop relay may need to be replaced. A few weeks later, the same thing happened and the dealership repaired the start/stop relay. Since then, the lights will periodically come on and turning it off eventually clears the codes. May 18, 2025, it happened again. On the radio, it showed P2AF5. We brought it to the dealership and while there were 30-40 codes that were showing (some active and some stored), the P2AF5 code didn't display. The dealership cleared all the codes in hopes that it would only turn on the code that caused all the other codes. No new codes displayed. They offered no further diagnostic suggestions and said to bring it back if it occurs again. Because losing power steering while driving is a safety hazard and because a lot of people on various sites indicate they have similar problems due to the start/stop relay, I want to report this issue in hopes that you can find a pattern and determine a fix.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Starting at 300 miles, the vehicle displayed a warning message that said Automatic emergency braking system unavailable service required. The Jeep dealer in Austin, Minnesota inspected this vehicle and gave us paperwork saying there is no fix available for this safety system and Stelantis engineers are aware of complaints and investigating. This fault/error shuts off this safety feature which puts the driver and occupants in danger of injury and or death when this automatic braking system is needed and not working. A constant warning light is displayed. This has been ongoing since March of this year. Please force a recall and or fix of this vehicle. An online search shows this is a common issue on Jeep Compass vehicles since the 2023 model year. This vehicle has one other issue where the electronic parking brake is randomly turning on by itself with no driver input.

When driving the car will randomly active automatic emergency braking, which is especially dangerous on the highway. Lane departure has pulled me to the wrong lane, or will randomly become unavailable. Blind spot monitoring occasionally doesn’t work, or will also randomly become unavailable. Dealership made aware but unable to recreate circumstances in which they become unavailable or faulty. There are never prior warnings, this will happen whenever. There are multiple other ‘24 Jeep Compass owners who report the same issue online.

The car broke down the very first day I got it! The alternator had to be changed I took it back to Auto connection where I got it from and they replaced it. Since then the car has been breaking down, I have had to pay for out of pocket for a new thermostat, another alternator, hoses, fuel pump, and I have only had the car a yr. Now it’s making a loud hissing noise after I just paid for brand new spark plugs and it’s not accelerating and ver 40/45 mph! Which is costing me more money to pay for a uber to work and everywhere I need to go while still making car payments! My insurance doesn’t handle these repairs. I need immediate help please!

For 6months I have a low oil pressure light come on before my oil change is due. Dealer has ran 3 oil consumption test pass/fail/pass the next one will fail as I had to add 2 quarts or oil this week and my oil change isn’t due for 2k more miles. There is no leak visible so it must be within the motor. As well as I have already replaced start/stop battery as well as main battery bc if the start/stop and it hasn’t been a year and the lights are back on and I can’t engage it. The oil issue start before the warranty went out the first time. Now I have no warranty and have to feed the car oil. It is ridiculous. This needs to be a recall. 2018 had a recall for this same oil issue. Now we need it for newer models.

Subject: Safety Complaint – Brake Sensitivity Causing Driver Injury (2019 Jeep Compass) Vehicle Info: •Year/Make/Model: 2019 Jeep Compass Latitude •Mileage: 79,119 •VIN: [XXX] ⸻ Complaint Summary: I am submitting this complaint due to a persistent and potentially dangerous issue with my 2019 Jeep Compass. The brake pedal is excessively sensitive, engaging abruptly with minimal pressure. This behavior has remained consistent since I purchased the vehicle certified pre-owned. Over the past year and a half, I have experienced increasing pain in my right knee from frequent driving. I believe this is due to repetitive strain caused by the unnatural effort required to gently brake in this vehicle. I have reported this issue at every service visit, but the dealership has dismissed it as “normal.” I am currently pursuing medical evaluation and have submitted a formal complaint to Jeep requesting a full brake diagnostic and written report. I am filing this complaint to document what I believe is a design or calibration flaw that poses an ergonomic and long-term health risk to drivers.
