Purchased Jan 20 2024 Battery issues started in April 2024, battery started melting a particular component, i had to replace the battery, the melting was still happening, I went to another jeep location, to get a fuse component that keeps wires separate, the melting still happened. I told the original Jeep dealership about each thing, they told me to bring it in finally and told me I had to pay for a wire harness to be run throughout the car, 3000, to 1800, and then 0, for a "malfunction they found and fixed" After Wire harness situation and price de-escalation after i told them they shouldjust take the car back because i dont have 3000; the start stop now not cooperating, has been happening since Aug 2024 in daytime with lyft rider in car. Stopped for a few months then repeated in October at night with other guests in car. Today (07/14/2025) Before 2 shift of lyft (before 7:50pm) The car stopped 6 times, 2 times with 2 different lyft riders in car. 4 times by myself, 1 time on the highway 2nd to 1st lane, with 18 wheeler behind me. This time it started back immediately but with 2nd passenger in car and 3rd time on my own it took several minutes before turning back on. Car stopped driving again today 07/15/2025 (recorded video) Now the car has a serv 4wd and the engine light is on, and I dont know whats wrong with the car. Its stressful, and I'm ready to give the car back for trade in value. Car still stops when it wants, its difficult to get a video as its happening, but the car just starts shaking, and stops driving no matter where I am. Everything will be easier to explain over the phone or in person, I am very scared of this car, this is my only source of income and now the Check engine light is on and I don't know whats wrong with the car. I've never had this many issues with a car and its the youngest car I've had. Ive seen many complaints about Jeep compass in particular after 2016. Having more problems and all similar to each other as the years go by.

I've had this jeep since September 2021. I've driven about 32,000 miles. When I purchased the car it had 36,000 miles. Every light came on, including the check engine light. I have also seen the car will shut off. Park this vehicle about a month ago.

Since 20,000 miles I have had problems with my steering column. I first took it in back in August of 2023 due to a clunking noise coming from my steering wheel. When I first took it in my suspension was tightened but this did not resolve the issue. When I took it back in a week later I was told I needed to replace my rack and pinion. The rack and pinion was replaced but my car still had the faint clunking sound. The clunking came back a year later. At 30,000 miles I was told both of my front axles had failed and both were replaced. The clunking sound still remained but faint. Seven months later the clunking returned once again and much more aggressively (I was out of warranty at this point). I was told one of my axles failed once again prematurely and was replaced after sitting for nearly a month. When I got my car back after nearly 4 weeks i noticed the exact same aggressive clunking noise in my steering column. I returned my car back a week later for a new diagnosis after speaking with the service manager. The report came back stating that both of my lower control arms went bad and needed to be replaced. Also discovered was a bad intermediate shaft causing the clunking noise. The dealership decided to goodwill the service to fix my lower control arms since it was a dangerous situation to drive in and I had been driving my car like this for 20,000 miles since I originally took the car in. The dealership says they can not do anything about the intermediate shaft which could cause me to lose all steering abilities and cause a serious car accident. I no longer feel safe in this car and 100% believe this car is a lemon.

I have a major ground issue, where I lose power and it makes my headlights, cab lights, and my cluster to constantly flicker. There was no warnings or anything, and has been confirmed by a professional auto care center. Another issue is the engine cooling and there is no leaks I have also had it looked over by the same professional auto care center, I also had to replace the throttle body 4 times in less than 6 months. Losing power to the vehicle is definitely a danger to others and myself and my children. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request as long as it doesn't interfere with my work schedule. Also I have had to change the ignition coils 4 times in less than 6 months also completed by the auto care center. Everything listed has been ongoing since I bought the car in 2019.

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving over a railroad track at approximately 15 MPH, the vehicle suddenly decelerated and was difficult the steer. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer, who diagnosed that the front subframe had failed due to severe corrosion, causing damage to the engine bay, and causing the engine and transmission to lower. The subframe and front lower control arms were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. Recently, while the vehicle was in for routine maintenance, the contact was informed that the rear subframe was corroded. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 98,500.

On [XXX], a rental vehicle issued by Enterprise was stopped due to an expired North Carolina license plate [XXX] ) and a defective taillight. The expired plate was physically affixed to the Jeep Compass at the time of rental, yet Enterprise’s rental receipt showed a different plate number [XXX] ). This discrepancy was never disclosed before the stop and was repeatedly denied by Enterprise staff for months. Multiple Enterprise representatives—including the branch manager where the vehicle was rented—insisted the Jeep had “only ever” had the [XXX] plate in their system, despite the North Carolina plate being listed on the signed rental agreement and cited by law enforcement. Later, Enterprise claimed the vehicle was re-registered in another state after impound, which altered internal records. This retroactive change created a misleading paper trail that misrepresented the actual tag on the vehicle during the rental period. The expired plate and defective taillight directly triggered a law-enforcement stop, exposing the authorized driver to legal risk, arrest, and vehicle seizure. This unsafe condition should have been identified and corrected before releasing the vehicle, per standard fleet-safety procedures. After impound, personal property left in the vehicle—including electronics—was denied by Enterprise staff as ever existing, despite multiple third-party witnesses confirming its presence. One electronic item was later tracked via GPS to a private residence unrelated to any Enterprise location, after which it was abruptly “found.” Other property remains missing. failure to ensure vehicle roadworthiness, improper record-keeping that concealed the true plate assignment, and mishandling of customer property after impound. Passenger headrest exploded while parked - thankfully it happened overnight while no one was in the seat. I checked online and there’s tons of reports of this exact issue with no way to repair it or recall it. There’s only the option to replace it from a parts store and it’s $500. Please enforce this as a recall.

The (A) this automatically temporarily pause the idling of the engine when stopping at a light or stop sign. I’ve noticed that it’ll shut my car off completely as if the battery has died. I’ve been put in scary situations due to heavy traffic. I’ve held up traffic for at least 3-10 minutes. ( my battery is less than 2-3 yrs old). So, for now I’ve started turning that function off upon starting the car before I put it in gear. Any complaints about that anyone know of?

Hello,2018 jeep compass 4x4 with 35,000 miles. Backup camera screen half blacked out, can't use features without or see. Many of these jeep screen radios are defective and should be recalled at 900. Also sway bar links are weak, broke two times. Should be recalled do to plastic like part and for a front end that is disgusting. Are these being investigated?

Two bolts that hold the wheel assembly to the frame of the vehicle have broken off. The first in April 2025 was on the passenger side, and the second in July 2025 was on the driver side. The Jeep service personnel provided no explanation for how this could happen or seemed to have inspected the other components after the vehicle was serviced for the first broken bolt.

After going on and off intermittently for the last year, the rear view camera system stopped working altogether! There is a recall for my Year (21) and model (Jeep compass) but unfortunately my vin number is excluded from this recall and Stellantis says there's nothing they can do on their end to assist me with this issue. This creates a safety issue whenever I'm backing up anywhere. To diagnose the problem, my dealership wants to charge me $210.00 just to look at it. There are no warning lights except words on my black screen that say "camera system unavailable"
