I went out to my 2025 F150 Lightning and noticed there was frost on the windshield. I turned the defrost on using the app. About 10-15 minutes later, I went out my ty truck, closed the door, and heard what sounded like ice sliding off the back glass. When my wife closed the passenger door, I heard the same thing. I looked up in the rearview mirror and the back glass was shattered. Oct 17, 2026. Outside temp was low 40s.

The contact owns a 2025 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after the vehicle came to a complete stop, the front driver-side door was opened, and the transmission independently shifted to Park (P). The transmission then seized. The contact disconnected the battery to reset the computer, which required several hours. The vehicle was restarted, and the transmission was able to shift out of Park (P). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the gear shift module needed to be replaced, but the part was on back order. The contact associated the failure with Technical Service Bulletin: 26-2294 (Power Train); however, the vehicle was not covered under the TSB. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by email, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 120,053.

On October 14, 2026, while traveling approximately 75 mph on an interstate highway, the front panoramic sunroof glass on my 2025 Ford F-150 Tremor suddenly and violently shattered without any apparent impact. The sunroof was fully closed, and the interior sunshade was fully open. There was an extremely loud, gunshot-like explosion without any preceding sound of an object striking the vehicle or other warning signs. Most of the front glass panel blew upward and outward, leaving a large opening in the roof. Fractured glass remained attached around the perimeter, and glass fragments entered the passenger compartment, landing on the seats, center console, and floor. This sudden failure created a significant safety hazard at highway speed, including the risk of injury from flying glass and the potential for driver distraction or loss of vehicle control. Fortunately, the incident did not result in a collision. The cause of the failure is unknown. Photographs taken immediately afterward document the extensive glass loss, remaining fractured glass, and debris inside the vehicle. No obvious impact point is identifiable in the photographs. I am concerned about a potential defect involving the panoramic sunroof glass or its installation, particularly given similar reports of sudden sunroof failures involving Ford F-150 vehicles. I request that NHTSA investigate this potential safety-related defect. The vehicle has not yet been inspected or repaired, and the remaining damaged glass is currently available for inspection.

The contact owns a 2025 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 15 MPH, the trailer hitch connection fault and blind spot fault messages were displayed. The contact and wife then became aware of a smoky odor, followed by smoke coming from the instrument panel. The vehicle caught on fire at the steering wheel and instrument panel. The contact and a neighbor extinguished the fire using a water hose and a fire extinguisher. A fire report was filed. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company to a storage facility, where it was inspected by the insurance company. The vehicle was not repaired, and the contact was informed that the vehicle would be declared a total loss. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure by telephone. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.
Was driving down the road when a series of alerts started popping up on my instrument panel and lost braking ability. The following alerts occurred in the specific order. Parking brake service limited, Brake system failure alert, service advancedtrac. Braking Pedal went to the floor, I continued to stomp on the brake pedal and pump, trying to get a response. The braking system never responded and I eventually came to a rest. My safety as well as any drivers around me was put at risk. The vehicle has not been inspected by dealer as the incident just occured. I inspected the brake fluid level and for any obvious signs of brake failure. The mechanical aspects of the braking system were in working order(fluid level good, pads, rotors all in working order. I turned the truck off and back on and all the alerts subsided and the braking system worked as normal. I drove the truck home 1/2 mile with no issues after the brake failure. I am mechanically inclined, and would have to say this looks to be an electrical or communication failure within the vehicles computer system. There are no alerts or check engine lights on my truck after the incident. In the past my truck stores alerts in the app of anything that comes across the instrument cluster. I find it odd that there is no check engine light or alert to prevent someone from driving the vehicle after such an event, in turn creating another safety risk.
