The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving 50 MPH, upon attempting to bring the vehicle to a complete stop, the brake pedal was firm, requiring excessive force to depress. The service brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,000.

SERVICE BRAKES
Vehicle vibrated when applying the brakes. It started being noticeable when braking at high speeds around January of 2023 and progressively became worse over time. Took it to dealership in January of 2024 to get inspected under warranty. Per dealership, the front brake pads looked brand new (only 21,000 miles on car and no excessive braking) but the rotors were warped and had hot spots on them. It was unclear how the rotors became hot when the brake pads looked brand new, to the point the dealership asked if we had replaced the pads recently. The dealership had no answers as to why the rotors became hot. Per dealer, front rotors had vertical wave lines indicative of excessive heating. They turned the rotors but they still showed hot spots. Rotors were replaced.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Computer system failed on multiple occasions since we purchased the vehicle NEW. The first time, the entire touch screen display went black and could not control the climate or radio, second time the touch screen display was not showing that it was not attached to the GPS, no time or weather readings, and the instrument panel had no readings (such as oil/speed, etc). The dealership reset the car's computer and we continue to see "the SD card has been removed" on the panel (the SD card has NOT been removed). Any actions taken by the dealership has not fixed this ongoing problem.

SERVICE BRAKES
The service brake assist light came on and the brakes stopped working properly while driving on the highway. The car gave no indication that anything was wrong prior to the brakes going out and the message engine limited to reduced speed. I had to use all the power in my body to slow the car down and once stopped it did not start again. At that point the light came on. Now they are saying the problem is the brake vaccum pump which has a recall for many vehicles including the year just not my particular vehicle. If someone was driving in front of me, I could have possibly had a serious accident.

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while starting the vehicle and allowing the vehicle to idle for a minute or two, the contact started smelling an abnormally strong gasoline odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated an orange-colored engine symbol was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the gasoline odor inside the cabin of the vehicle was constant. The contact became aware that there was a small puddle of fuel on the passenger side rear tire underneath the vehicle. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
My car has stalled and left me stranded twice now. In June a new Fuel pump control module was put in around 6/3/23 at 6152 miles and Feb 5 at 9064 miles, new FPCM was installed. GM insists there is no recall on my 2022 Equinox, yet this car has had the exact same issue as Recall: 23V013000, twice now. I am very concerned for the Safety of a car that will stop running while you are driving. When this part stops working the car stops running and will not start and leaves you stranded wherever you are. No lights/no warnings it just stops running. I was stranded in the middle of an eight lane busy road in Daytona, FL when my car stopped running. I had just come off the interstate, as I exited to the off ramp and came to a slower speed 30-40 MPH the car started sputtering and shaking before I made the right turn off the ramp. It sputtered about 2/3 blocks and it stalled. Once it started sputtering and shaking I had no power, giving it gas did nothing to increase the engine speed or speed up the car. I was left stranded until 3 guys pushed my car about 2 blocks to safety. My car also stalled in Orlando in June, at a stop sign, it would not start. We had to be out in the road flagging people to go around my car. These are the codes and fix each time. ECM - Engine System P129F The Engine and Transmission System is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the Fuel Management System used to maintain, control and monitor fuel consumption. Work report from February 5, 2023 from Jon Hall Chevrolet, INC States: 9064 Verified P129F disconnected K111 FPCM 8 to 1.2 OHMS 9 to 2.4 OHMS 24 to 3.2 OHMS. Found 0.L between terminal 8 and 9 at K111 FPCM per document 5575881. Replaced Fuel Pump Control Module. Cleared Codes Test Drove Vehicle Operated as designed.

My son was driving and all of a sudden the check engine light came on, it got really loud and stalled out while he was driving. Luckily he was on a road with a low speed limit. If this had happened on the highway it could have been extremely dangerous. He is a 16 year old new driver. We took it in and were told the rear main seal blew and we need a new engine. Apparently this is a know issue with this car. We are now in the process of installing a new engine on a car we have taken very good care of with less than 100,000 miles and still has a car payment. There were no prior warnings and the issue was confirmed by the dealer.

POWER TRAIN
high oil consumption, plugged/damaged PCV valve. This is a known problem with 2010-2014 chevy equinox and a special coverage was issued in 2015, but not all affected vehicles were included in this special coverage, but my vehicle was not included even though the model, year, mileage, and specific issue are all the same as other equinox's that do fall under this special coverage. The special coverage needs to be extended to additional vehicles and Chevy will not address this complaint from me directly. The safety issue is that this problem was going on for months, but the check engine light did not go off to alert me of an issue. I noticed a sound when the vehicle was idling and when my car was suddenly not making it to the next scheduled oil change without being extremely low on oil. Had I not noticed the sound or checked my oil level on the spot (which the average consumer may not due) my engine would have seized up on the highway because it was down 3 quarts even though I had a recent oil change. The car does not make it between standard oil change time frames of 3,000-4,000 miles due to the heavy oil consumption from the defective pcv valve.

We bought the car in July 2023. We had it for a month then it started to smell like mildew and mold. It permeated into our clothes. We took it to the dealership and they had the car for about two months. When we got it back it smelled like strong soap, but after a week or two it started to smell again. We took it back again. This time they used Ionize. That lasted two days and it smells again.

I got this car in April of 2022. I am the second owner. Since May of 2022 every time I drive for longer than an hour the radio completely shuts off by itself and comes back on. I've taken it back to the dealership they drove for 5mins and stated radio did not shut off even though I told them they did not drive long enough. In January of 2024 while out shopping I go to start vehicle and it has power but won't start. I had the same issue in November of 2023 took it to dealership they stated nothing wrong with it. I called roadside in January 2024 power was on vehicle would not start. I ended up having to get vehicle towed to my home and had a mechanic come to me. Told me I needed a new motherboard. Paid for the new motherboard yet radio still cuts off. This has been an issue for far too long and is messing other systems up in the vehicle. I also had to have battery replaced and am still in need of four tires because the wheel spokes are rusted. A four year old car with this much trouble is not worth the headache.

When I gets an oil change days later my car start running slow saying decrease in power I was told air is getting in the filter and causes a freeze to decrease the power which is dangerous in traffic. This has been going on for the last two years. I’m told thousands of equinoxes has been brought in for service with the same scenario. It started in January of 2023

No problems with car Oil life says 19% told by chevey dealership service department don't have to change oil till 0% Filled up car at gas pump and pulled away In middle of turning reduce power alarm, traction control and check engine yell at me I was just able to get the car into a parking spot Take car to chevey dealership service department and they said It is turning of too easy meaning the timing chain slipped and there is NO oils on the dip stick even though it was just there to get oil change at 6K and oil life reader say 19% No sound, No hard turn over, No shifting issues I was glad I wasnt on the highway for it to slipped without warning while driving

Car started to leak oil, took it for repair was told it has a pcv valve issue, that can lead to main seal failure. This is a 13 hour repair, at a cost of approximately $2500.00 This issue can happen again, and especially in cold weather. So even if you get it repaired this pcv/valve issue can cause main seal failure again. From Mechanic Report: •Finding: .Other engine oil leak issue •Recommendation: See technician notes below •Technician's Notes: Rear main seal leaking. Lower oil pan very likely leaking as well. PCV system failing caused Excessive engine pressure which in turn caused rear main to fail. There is a GM TSB specifically for this issue. Without repairing PCV, seals will fail again. Repairing PCV system will require intake and valve cover removal. •Full recommendation: •-Remove valve cover and clean pcv passages •-Remove intake, replace pcv valve, and clean pcv passages. •-Replace rear main seal •-Replace oil pan seal My vehicle mileage is Odometer 68,201mi so I am out of the warranty window.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The infotainment screen goes blank. I can hear the radio but nothing is on the screen so I can not use any buttons. This also affects the backup camera, being able to see that area to check to make sure nothing is behind the vehicle. The dealership can not duplicate the issue as this happens randomly, mainly when there is a lot of rain/wetness. I have been dealing with this for exactly 10 years now, January 2014-2024. I have all service papers from taking it in and not once did they offer to check other areas to see if something else could be causing this issue. I took it again, after contacting Chevrolet, for the umpteenth time, and paid for diagnostics. The dealership now says it supposedly is the atenna, that water is getting in and causing the issue.

[XXX] I drove to work 9.8 miles. It was very cold that week, Zero temps. During my drive I experience intermittent power surges/loss, horrible exhaust filled the vehicle to the point I had to open windows. NO ENGINE LIGHTS ever came on. I called repair shop and scheduled to bring it in after work. They notified me that the main rear engine seal had blown and caused the oil to leak all out and ruined my engine. The cost to repair/replace engine is going to be $6k. This was a very dangerous situation. I often drive with my daughters and grandchildren in my vehicle. We could have been in a serious accident if I had lost power on the freeway. Or, could have been stranded on the side of the road in zero temps. The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started shaking. The contact continued driving and the vehicle started to shake excessively. The message “Engine Power Reduced” message and “Stabili-trak” warning light illuminated before the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to get the vehicle parked in a parking space and turned the vehicle off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,200.
