Vehicle is having "shift to park" issue. The vehicle is in park and will not turn off or start. This is a commonly known issue on other Chevy and GM vehicles, but GM has not acknowledged the problem or will not fix unless paid out of pocket.

Timing chain failure while driving due to excessive oil consumption that General Motors and mechanics/dealerships are well aware of. In between oil changes, oil is known to have burned 2-3 quarts leaving not enough oil to be pumped on to the chains and rails which leads to unknown failure. No "low oil" indication of the vehicle. Just about every one of these engines that are manufactured are having the same issue and GM has yet to resolve this.

On [XXX] at approximately 10:30 am I was driving on [XXX] to [XXX] . It started raining heavily and all of a sudden my wipers just quit. Could not see nothing and scared me to death but thankfully was able to get off road and call tow truck. Tow truck took me to Bentons Auto in Guthrie Oklahoma where they replaced the wiper blade mechanism. Mechanic said it was a bad design. They have a mechanism bar which just pops on to a plastic ball. There is not a screw to hold it in place on it anywhere. He said the plastic ball just wears down and arm mechanism just falls off. This could have cost me my life! I looked on line and saw many more complaints on same thing! How can I guarantee it wont happen again unless they have a recall and fix it? Vehicle began to run rough and jerk forward at slow speeds or when stopped. This unexpected jerking forward when stopped occurred several times almost causing the vehicle to strike the one in front of it No dashboard warning lights we observed. Check oil and found it was 3 quarts low despite being changed and topped off a few weeks earlier. Had a mechanic inspect the vehicle for signs of leaks and he found none. Added 3 quarts until read full on dipstick and began to monitor oil consumption. Vehicle is consuming approximately 1 quart of oil every 400 miles. This is a well maintained vehicle with only 83,000 miles and should not be consuming this much oil. A quick search shows this is a common problem with this model and year, but not recall has yet been issued

My 2015 Chevy Equinox is burning oil at an alarming rate. I just found out I have been driving this car with NO oil. I had no indicator lights come on warning me of any danger. I have only 68000 miles on this car and they are telling me I need a new engine. I still owe $15,000 on this car that I have only had for 8 months...and they want me to pay $9000.00 for a new engine on a defect that GM knows about. My [XXX] drives this car (well I won't let him now) but what if the engine blew while he was driving? This is a VERY DANGEROUS defect and people can get seriously hurt. The vehicle burns oil causing engine failure. This issue occurs without warning (no oil light, and the check engine light appears moments before the vehicle dies). The vehicle burns oil and reaches engine failure even when regularly scheduled oil changes are completed. THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY AND RESULT IN A RECALL.

I received a service brake module warning and then the vehicle became difficult to stop. I was not traveling at typical highway speeds at the time, but I was on the highway. After applying extensive pressure on the brake pedal to stop, the engine lost power and stalled. It was towed to a dealership and determined that vacuum booster pump experienced a catastrophic failure.

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while his fiancée was driving 15-20 MPH uphill, the vehicle jolted and stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact's fiancée was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact's fiancée was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the camshaft had fractured, causing the vacuum pump and the solenoid sensor to be fractured. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided because the vehicle was out of Warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the "Service Brake Assist" message briefly flashed on the instrument panel. The vehicle then independently downshifted and decelerated to 30 MPH, with the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard. The contact was unable to stop the vehicle but was able to coast the vehicle to an independent mechanic. The contact was able to turn off the vehicle after the failure; however, the mechanic was unable to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where a mechanic informed the contact that the vacuum pump had failed and sent debris through the camshaft. The contact was informed that the vacuum pump, timing chain, cam shaft, and pistons all needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was given a reference number. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

February-March 2024 the car would stall when trying to accelerate. April 2024 while driving to the store, the vehicle reduced speed and went into power save mode, and the check engine light appeared. I took it to the dealer on a Monday morning and from their diagnosis they reported nothing was wrong. They stated I pretty much had to wait until the car went out before they can figure out what's wrong. May 2024 while reversing and then putting the vehicle in drive, the car begin to lose power and a message appeared saying switch to neutral. After parking and turning the car off, then turning it back on, it hardly wanted to turn on and the message appeared again to put the car in neutral.

The car was completely empty of oil even though it wasn’t time for an oil change and there were no leaks or holes. It end up destroying the motor on the vehicle as well. The oil light came on and then the car stop work while driving on the highway. The car was towed to AAmco Transmission and Total Car Care 15282 Veterans Memorial Pkwy Wentzville, MO 63385. 636-223-5113. That’s where the car was assessed at and we found out at that time what the issues was. I then found out this exact issue was on recall for another vin numbers. I call the manufacturer to make them aware of what had taken place with this particular vehicle and was told it wasn’t part of the recall. I then asked even though I have proof that it is the same issues. I was just given a claim number for the call and nothing else happened. So if this happened to our car and thankfully my husband was driving and not my daughter that day it could have been a different situation and she would have not knew how to get it off to the side of the highway while waiting for a tow truck. There was no warning until that day because we were keeping up with our car maintenance.

Our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox had a sudden Brake Vacuum Pump failure causing loss of braking power by about 80%. The only reason we did not have an accident is it was early morning and there was no traffic when we exited the highway. I was not happy to realize that GM has no recall on this. They apparently knew this was a problem and in more recent years have changed the design. The other flaw is this pump is attached to the wall of the engine and shrapnel can fall into the engine compartment and that debris could lead to total engine failure if it travels to the combustion area. This is not only dangerous but financially ruining.

The entire front of the vehicle was damaged. The contact stated that the vehicle was still in motion after the crash, he had to jump out of the vehicle and manually steer the vehicle to the side of the road where it finally came to a stop. All the air bags in the vehicle deployed. The contact mentioned the automatic braking system failed to independently stop the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact's wife who was driving sustained air bag and seat belt bruising but no medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the impound lot. The brakes in our 2018 chevy equinox have went out three times in the past month. First time the car was parked fully functioning the night before, woke up the next morning for work and there was no brakes. Replaced the vacuum pump and they worked good as new. Second time we are driving down a busy highway and had been for half an hour. 2 minutes from our destination at the ONLY turn we had to make the whole trip, the brakes all of a sudden went out. This could have easily resulted in a fatal crash. Again, the vacuum pump. Now were to today, the third time our brakes have failed and this time it came with the check engine light and “engine power reduced”. GM NEEDS TO RECALL.
