STEERING
After completing a right turn with a right turn signal, the car will sometimes signal a left turn for 3 blinks. I believe this is because the turn signal stalk 'bounces' down to the left turn signal area when returning back to normal position from a right turn. This is a safety issue because the car is signaling a left turn when no turn is intended. This could cause confusion to other drivers on the road. This does not appear to be unique to my vehicle. When researching, I can find several other people having the same problem with multiple models of GM vehicles: [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] It seems this has been an issue since 2023 model year. Some people get the stalk replaced and the issue still persists. This does not happen after ending every right turn, but it happens at least once per day. The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The contact stated the fuel system warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a fuel system failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000. The VIN was not available.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN, SERVICE BRAKES
Power Train: I purchased a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox LS in January 2023. For the past 4 to 7 months the vehicle has completely lost power in traffic several times and I'm not talking about AutoStop and Start, the battery life was great, with no dead cells at all. The vehicle went dead, absolutely no power source inside or outside the Equinox, the SUV could not be placed in neutral to move it out of traffic, nor would the remote key work. The Equinox remained in this mode for approximately 20 minutes. During each incident, the vehicle displayed no warning signs or check engine symbol on the dashboard display before or after each episode. Fuel/Propulsion System: Upon placing unleaded fuel in the vehicle and starting up the ignition, the SUV would start vibrating, sputtering, jerking, and popping sounds. Also, while driving the vehicle upon acceleration at times it seems as if fuel isn't reaching the engine. Brakes: Service Brake Assist may illuminate randomly on the dashboard while on the interstate. These issues has placed and caused my family and I to be in great danger. This is my primary vehicle and I purchased this vehicle because I believed in the reliability of the GM Chevrolet Brand. Not an accident waiting to happen. Yes, the vehicle has been inspected, but please remember if NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT is illuminating on the dashboard the issues can not be assessed properly!

SERVICE BRAKES
When first breaking on the exit ramp after a 2 hour ride on highway the rear breaks made a loud grinding sound & took longer to stop with 2 cars in front of mine. I put flashers on & pulled as far to side of road incase I was unable to stop at the bottom of the exit (down hill) to avoid collision with the 2 cars in front of me. Previously my vehicle shown no signs of any issues. There were no sounds coming from breaks, no issues slowing down or stopping, & no lights on dashboard to indicate an issue of any kind. I looked my Chevy Equinox up and saw that there was an isdue with the rear calipers and many had been reported and recalled. My VIN doesn't show my calipers have been recalled. However, the GM site states if there is an issue with the rear breaks/ calipers to report it and Chevy will repair the issue. Many Chevy Equinox owners have taken to the internet to report the same issue, there are also reports that only 166 were recalled. This is clearly a manufacturing error and not normal wear & tear. I bought my 2020 Equinox brand new in 2021, it was unsold in 2020. Please help myself & the other Chevy Equinox owners make Chevy take responsibility & fix this error before people are injured or killed because our breaks give out unexpectedly.

My son was driving our 2018 Equinox on the interstate when he went to brake while turning to an off-ramp. He discovered he had almost no ability to brake and narrowly avoided an accident. We discovered later that the vacuum pump responsible for the brake assist failed in catastrophic fashion. It not only failed but deposited numerous metal fragments in the crank case.

While driving down the road, my car completely stopped in the middle of traffic. It would not move, and I was stuck in the middle of the road. This is a safely issue because it could have caused a multiple vehicle pileup as my car came to a sudden halt and I was unable to move in the middle of traffic. The vehicle was towed to a Chevrolet dealership. It was determined by Chevrolet that the fuel pump module was not sending the proper signal to the fuel pump. The fuel pump module was replaced. There was no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to the incident.

SERVICE BRAKES
Driving interstate without difficulty. Made stop at rest area, got out with children, turned vehicle off. Returned to vehicle to leave, cranked vehicle put in reverse but had no brakes. Brakes in down position. Brakes would not return to normal position. Turned vehicle off and Looked under vehicle and noticed oil on the ground. No indicator lights on dash to alert of any issues. Tried to crank vehicle all power came on but motor would not turn over (long crank) Brakes remained in down position. Had vehicle towed home and upon inspection, oil was seen leaking out of the side of motor where brake vacuum pump is housed and noticed a crack in the brake vacuum pump housing. Oil leaking onto ground.

There have been 4 radios in the car installed and it has continually cause multiple issues with the electrical system. We’ve had the car in the shop for 7 different times and there is no correction as of now. Additionally, we’re continuing to have a constant rattling sound and it has been looked at and ‘corrected’ multiple times and there is still not a fix. We’ve had this car in the shop 10 different times over the two issues and still no correction nor any assistance from the manufacturer. Something has to give.

On December 26, 2022, while driving home from work during a snowstorm, my 2016 Chevy Equinox suddenly lost power and began making unusual noises. Shortly after, a warning light indicated low oil pressure, and the engine shut off before I could safely pull over. Since then, the vehicle has been sitting in my driveway. Recently, I had it checked by a dealership, where the mechanics diagnosed a blown rear main seal and significant oil leakage. The dealership confirmed that the rear main seal failure was caused by a faulty PCV valve, a known issue in these models, which resulted in excessive pressure buildup and engine damage. Given the severity of the issue, the dealership mentioned that an engine replacement might be necessary. If it’s just the rear main seal that needs replacing, the estimated cost is $2,700. The vehicle was purchased used with 55,000 miles on it and had only one previous owner.

Vacuum pump exploded and ended up breaking the cam shaft. Brakes wouldn't work for a minute completely seizing up in rush hour traffic. It did eventually stop. Got it to the auto shop close by and they inspected the vehicle. They stated this shouldn't have happened. Also, in their experience they have never seen someone able to drive their car with this issue. It typically locks up the engine by sending broken pieces inside and blows it. They said I was very lucky it didn't cause an accident, catch fire due to the oil, or explode the engine from the broken pieces. The techs stated they have seen this a lot in the Chevy Malibus and some in the equinox's but that they run on the same engine so that would make sense. There was no warning prior to this happening. The vehicle was inspected by the auto shop techs and report sent to me with photos of all damages.

The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, she became aware that the vehicle was handling poorly, after which the tire pressure system service light illuminated. Upon parking the vehicle, the contact smelled a burning odor around the exterior of the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V511000 (Tires), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 78,000.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Driver side mirror sets itself to non useable position even when auto mirror option is not turned on. Everytime I shift gears the mirror positions itself to an unuasable position making it impossible to safely pull out from a parked position. It happens wether pulling forward or backing out. I can not seem to find any information on how to correct the issue. Other owners have reported the same issue but Chevrolet refuses to address the issue. The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to stop at a stop light, the vehicle unexpectedly stalled. The contact was able to place the vehicle in neutral and pulled over to the side of the road. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were flashing after the failure. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the timing chain had fractured and went into the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. Severe oil consumption which could lead to damage to engine and vehicle failure when driving, which could cause an accident or worse. The dealer stated that the rear main seal could blow out and cause the vehicle failure. Defective parts that GM is aware of, but not addressing to the owners. There is a service bulletin (14882) that dealers are aware of concerning this issue, for an extended warranty of 120,000 or 10 years, no charge to customers to repair. Part#12591866.crankshaft real oil seal. The dealer refuses to honor it.
