POWER TRAIN
Symptoms were poor gas mileage, highly rough idle (especially in DRIVE, while at a stop), lag in acceleration as well as delayed response to gas pedal depression, struggled take off from an incline while utilizing AC on high output. Diagnosed by a code reader with confirmation by a trusted mechanic that the transmission is malfunctioning. Mechanic indicates the need to seek a shop specializing in transmissions because this entails disassembly of drain pan and plug to find issue either with fluid seal or the start/stop assembly in relation to the transmission. Issues began approximately 6 months ago, as I have been trying to deduce the issue by process of elimination by way of services and mileage recommendation. All professional involved indicate that a Chevy at this mileage and age do not typically display concerns related to the transmission.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
I recently purchased a 2025 Equinox EV LT1 vehicle. Overall, the vehicle is performing well and has a number of safety features that are helpful when driving. As others have also reported, the windshield glare on this vehicle is a weak spot, and without polarized sunglasses, the glare is often severe and distracting. At night, the use of sunglasses is of course not feasible, and occasional glare from headlights and streetlights can compromise the driver's ability to view the road and surroundings. Aftermarket dash covers are available, and that may be what I have to resort to to address the problem until/unless a recall or remedy is available from GM directly. This may seem more like an annoyance than a significant safety issue, but when you are unable to clearly view the environment around you when driving, it is a real problem.

On May 8,2025 the lift gate failed and crashed down on my head, vehicle is available for inspection and only a GM inspector has looked at it so far. The dealership told me because I filed a complaint with GM they can't touch it unless directed by GM now. It almost knocked me out, I saw black and was hard to see for at first within a few hours it was a huge goose egg on my head. It put me and my 6yr old at risk as she was with me but luckily in the car already. When approaching my car I used the liftgate remote to open it ahead of time, got my daughter in car and went to put our backpacks in the back when it crashed on my head full force no warning. It was extremely painful and caused a concussion with multiple symptoms. Headaches, painful bump, ear ringing, feeling so hot, major brain fog, forgetfulness, watery eyes, feeling really tired and hard to wake up in the morning. It has been about 3 weeks and the symptoms are mostly gone except bad ear ringing, light sensativity, on and off headaches easily, can't put my hair in ponytail as it hurts still. I still have a small dent in my head. The doc says these lasting concussion symptoms could last for months. I don't understand why this has problem has not been fixed when research shows it has been a problem since 2010. The only other issue I had with the car was my instrument panel going black while I was driving a few weeks prior.

I recently purchased this vehicle. The dash has a horrible reflection in the windshield creating some visibility issues the it is daytime especially in direct sunlight. I am worried that this hindered vision is going put drivers, pedestrians and animals at an increased risk of accidents. This is a known problem among the Equinox EV community, but I was unaware at the time of purchase.

SERVICE BRAKES
This past weekend, while driving my 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, I experienced a sudden and complete brake failure. I was turning into a residential neighborhood at approximately 20-30mph when the brakes locked up without warning. Despite pressing the brake pedal, the car would not stop. I attempted to shift into park, but the vehicle continued to roll forward. I had to engage the emergency brake, which caused the car to come to an immediate stop. Thankfully, there were no cars in front of me, but I came dangerously close to hitting a cement wall head-on. This created a serious risk to my safety and potentially to others had the situation occurred in traffic or near pedestrians. There were no warning lights, noises, or prior symptoms indicating an issue with the braking system. The vehicle has since been towed to the dealership and is currently awaiting inspection. I've learned that there are existing recalls on other VINS for the 2020 Equinox related to an incorrect lubricant used in the manufacturing process of the rear brake calipers. This defect can cause the calipers to swell, leading to excessive brake drag. Over time, this drag may result in overheating and possible brake lockup, which aligns with what I experienced. The component appears to be the braking system, specifically involving the calipers or pads. At the time of writing, the failure has not yet been confirmed by the dealer. This issue is extremely dangerous and could have resulted in a severe crash. I am reporting this in hopes that it contributes to a broader investigation, especially if this problem extends beyond currently recalled VINs.

All at once it is burning all the oil. I have done regular oil changes and all was well until about 2 months ago. Was driving car and it made noises so checked oil and none registered on dip stick. Added oil and few weeks later took for oul change and again no oil on dipstick. Looked up 2013 Chevy equinox and saw they had a recall that lasted 10 yrs or 100,000 miles. The car has 86000 miles and we had no idea about recall. We are 2nd owner... It was fixed free for many years but we missed the 10 yr deadline. I am worroed car will lose all oil and catch fire. I think Chevrolet should fix this vehicle since they said it had faulty parts in recall. Can you please help me.

I am filing a safety complaint regarding a failure of the vacuum pump in my 2020 Chevrolet Equinox. The failure occurred without warning and severely impacted the vehicle’s braking performance, posing a serious safety risk while driving. When the vacuum pump failed, I experienced a hard brake pedal and a significant loss of braking power, which made it difficult to stop the vehicle safely. Thankfully, I was not in heavy traffic or approaching a stoplight at high speed when it happened—otherwise, it could have resulted in a serious accident. After researching this issue, I discovered that vacuum pump failures appear to be a recurring problem in other GM vehicles of similar model years. It is extremely concerning that such a critical component could fail prematurely and without adequate warning. I believe this issue should be investigated for a potential defect and safety recall. I urge the NHTSA to look into this matter to ensure the safety of other drivers who may be at risk due to this defect. Thank you for your time and attention.

While driving, the car started making a whining sound on acceleration. As I was driving up my street the car went into limp mode and shut down, only allowing enough time to park. If this had happened on a main road or freeway it could have caused an accident due to the sudden loss of power. The issue is the high pressure fuel pump and has been confirmed by a Chevrolet dealer service center. I reported the issue to GM asking for assistance with the repair and to explore whether or not this could fall under the power train warranty. Mileage at the time of the incident was 39113. The only warning lights that appeared came on as the car went into "limp mode" but no warning prior to this incident.

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while reversing at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered and stalled. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact became aware that transmission fluid was leaking from the bottom of the vehicle and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

three times now my gas pedal has stuck down to the floor and had unsafe speeds reaching 95mph this is unsafe for us and others on the road wrote GM several times now with no help from them this needs to be checked out for everyone out there how many wrecks and rear end collision happened because of this acceleration issue mine seem to happen when you take it off cruise control and then accelerate the gas pedal but he dealerships can't find an answer I am asking for your help before someone get killed because no one wants to take action

My new 2025 Equinox RS AWD ran out of gas entering a 55 MPH highway. I tried to roll to the shoulder, and I came to a stop half on the right shoulder and half in the lane. When a 2025 Equinox RS AWD won't run, in this case because it is out of gas, there is no way to shift the car out of Park and into Neutral so it could be rolled out off the road, or on to a Tow truck ramp. When a 2025 Equinox RS AWD isn't running, it's locked in Park, and in order to move it needs to be jacked up and set on wheel dollies, for all four wheels.
