AS I WAS DRIVING, AN ERROR CAME ON MY DASHBOARD STATING, "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". THE FASTEST I COULD DRIVE WAS 25 MPH, THEN YOU COULDN'T DRIVE AT ALL. I TOOK THE VECHILE TO THE MECHANIC AND HE STATED THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY OIL PUMP AND MOTOR.

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle failed to immediately start. The vehicle was started after several attempts. The contact stated that while stopped at a red light the vehicle began shaking and lost motive power. Additionally, the contact stated that when the vehicle was shifted into park(P), the vehicle stalled three times, and the vehicle was restarted after several attempts. The contact stated that on another occasion, while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a gasoline odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that all four fuel injectors were damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 134,000.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
Due to the design of the dash there is a horrible glare on the windshield and it makes it very difficult to see out of the front windshield. This needs to be addressed immediately as it very distracting and can lead to an accident due to lack of visibility on sunny days.

I just purchased the vehicle she hadn't even driven it 2 months when it started to shut off on it's on. Causing very dangerous situations. Then the oil consumption problem that's been well known and heavily documented time after time. Without warning lights or low oil pressure light or even a check engine light to give any type of warning the front seal blew out causing heavy oil loose that caused the engine bay and over the bottom of the vehicle drenching areas that have really high temperatures that could have caused the oil to possibly ignite at any time from the high heated areas that was covered in oil. Also with front seal blown out without warning led to timming chain becoming faulty and then breaking leading to my valves impacting with pistons because this is a interference engine. The impact caused every valve to bend which led to no compression and without compression no engine will start without compression. All this consumption issue is due to piston rings that are under sized which allows blow by leading to consumption. After all that the price of everything to be fixed at home by myself cost almost $1000 and many man hours not including all the time I have a vehicle that's new to me that I haven't been able to drive but just a few months after purchasing. Checker knows these problems exists and how dangerous these problems can be. You would think a car manufacturer as big as Chevrolet and GMC would do something to help there customers rather than not even showing any kind of care really in the world. I thought these companies stand by there products.

I was driving my vehicle on the highway when all of a sudden I started to lose speed and my car wouldn’t accelerate. When my vehicle wouldn’t accelerate it started to shake significantly and the check engine, abs, traction control, and service stabilitrak light came on all at once. I was able to pull over and get my car towed to the dealership. Once it was at the dealership it was diagnosed that my car had jumped time causing a misfire in cylinder 4. My dealership stated this was due to low oil and my piston had become warped due to making contact with my valve. My car had no check oil warnings or any indication that vehicle was low on oil prior to this happening. My vehicle drove perfectly fine until that point. My vehicle also had no oil leaks (confirmed by myself not seeing any leaks under my vehicle as well as the dealership when they did the diagnostics). Before I bought my vehicle I did research and knew this model vehicle had oil consumption issues, so I made sure to routinely check my oil levels. Even with getting oil changes approximately every 3,000 miles and checking my oil levels and topping off my oil whenever it got less then 5 quarts I still had to get a total engine replacement. This was a huge safely issue since there was no warning that my oil was low and my car lost speed on the highway and was trying to stall out before I had a chance to pull off to safe place.

2018 Chevrolet Equinox Premier. The engine connecting rod to the #1 piston separated, causing the engine to stop while the vehicle was in motion. The only warning light at the time was the tire pressure monitor system. The incident had no warning. My husband was driving the vehicle. Initially he thought the car blew a tire by the noise, but then the engine stopped/stalled while I was driving. He was able to get to a side road. The vehicle would not start. He smelled burnt rubber and then thought he broke a belt. He pushed the On-star button for roadside assistance. The car was towed to Ferman Chevolet, Adamoo Dr., Brandon, Florida where they inserted a camera scope and confirmed the rod separation. I do not have paperwork except to show they gave me $2500 towards a trade-in. Over the phone they said it would be $1800 to take apart the engine to confirm the separation. The mechanic suspected the engine was scarred as a result. It would cost $12,000 to replace it, or they could talk to the sales side and see if they can let us trade it in on a different car. We traded the vehicle in. I just saw news of another GM recall affecting the 6.2L V8 and thought it odd that the same thing happened to my vehicle, which is not included in the recall. The engine stall caused my husband to stall in the middle of the traffic lane on a side street. Had he not gotten to the side street in time, he would have blocked a traffic lane on a very busy road which could have resulted in a major accident with injuries.

On [XXX], I was en route to Montgomery, Alabama, from Canton, Georgia, driving my 2015 Chevrolet Equinox on the highway at approximately 55 miles per hour. Suddenly, my truck began to decelerate rapidly on its own. A warning message appeared on my dashboard stating, “Engine reduced power to protect the engine.” I had to skillfully steer my truck over to the right shoulder to avoid a potential accident and escape the flow of traffic. It was extremely perilous to be on the highway as my truck nearly came to a complete stop. I had to have my truck towed to Chevrolet in Montgomery, Alabama. In addition, I had to get an uber because my truck would not start at all. I had to spend money on ubers and a hotel. I purchased this vehicle on[XXX]. I was advised that there was an open recall for the O2 SENSOR. On 11/11/24, I took this vehicle to LOU BACHRODT in Coconut Creek,Fl. where they performed the recall. Shortly after having the recall done my vehicle's check engine light came on and then would turn off and continue to come intermittently. I took it to one of my local parts store that does the check engine light scan and it was giving the code for a faulty O2 sensor. I took it back to same dealership on 12/17/24. I explained to Charles Ramasir ( service advisor) what was happening. He ran a scan even though the check engine was not on at that moment. The code that was stored was a transmission modular code. He said I would have to bring the vehicle back when the engine light was actually on because he could not accept a scan/fix finder report from any other then this dealership. The problem continued and was now affecting the performance of my vehicle. I was able to get the vehicle back to Lou Bachrodt while the lite was on and their scan did indicate the O2 sensor. The part was reordered and the recall was done a second time by Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet. My vehicle continues to have the same problem. The engine lite continues to come on intermittently and the scans continue to indicate a problem with the O2 sensor: code on [XXX] =P0138 code on [XXX] =P2271 I returned to Lou bachrodt on may 3,25 while the lite was on. As I drove into the service area the service greeter advised me to drive up and wait for the service advisor-Charles. I proceeded to turn off he vehicle and wait. As soon as I turn the vehicle back on to show Charles the engine lite, it was no longer on. And once again I was told that if the lite was not on he could not run the scan or accept the scan report from Auto Zone from the day before. He also seems to be fixated on the transmission code that no longer comes up in current scan reports. problem not solved and continues. please help. VISIBILITY/WIPER
Dash design makes windshield visibility very poor, especially in conditions where it is sunny. This is very dangerous on a typical day and even more dangerous when the sun is fully shining. After experiencing this, I googled and found numerous Chevy Equinox EV owners mention this problem. There should be a review of this and fix offered by GM.

In Feb 2025, I was driving, a day after a snow storm, on the highway when without warning my car stopped accelerating, and just shut down. The mechanic said my oil was all over the ground. He also stated that there's a defect in the 2.4l ecotec motors and the pistons broke on my vehicle. Now I have to pay $3500 to rebuild my motor. He stated that the vehicle has a higher oil consumption rate/ leaks and you will never know

I want to explain my case to protect a future person with this problem and that they soon take action. This has happened to me on 2 occasions. [XXX], my vehicle suddenly stopped at a speed of 55 miles on [XXX] in Miami and the car dashboard showed a lack of gasoline power that the gas pump stopped working, braking the car abruptly and with a high risk that a vehicle could collide with me at high speed. I had to pay for a tow truck to the Chevrolet Auto National Doral dealership in Miami. The vehicle only had 28,000 miles and it took a month to repair the vehicle. Time passes and on [XXX] the same thing happens to me at a speed of 60 miles on [XXX] in the city of West Palm Beach, the vehicle failed and braked abruptly and stopped working with the same risk that a vehicle could hit me. I had to request a tow truck for the area dealership AutoNation Chevrolet Greenacres and they tell me that the warranty had expired because the vehicle has 54,000 miles explaining that the car has had the same problem on several occasions and that it was a factory problem and that it had been repaired recently in a year and they tell me that I have to pay $ 1,000 dollars for the repair and I want to file this complaint so that an inspection is done on that entire vehicle because they all have the same problem and they should not charge the customer for a problem due to factory defects in this vehicle. I was driving down the highway and as I was going up a hill my car made a loud noise and then shut down. I had to coast to the side of the highway. I was stranded on the side of the highway with my two year old for 3 hours while I waited for a tow truck. I had to have my car towed and it was confirmed that my engine had locked up. My car has 106,000K miles on it and has had all routine maintenance completed on it. There were no warning lights before this happened and the mechanics do not know why the engine locked up.

Started into traffic and vehicle quickly slowed way down and then started to move again. At next light power lost again. Do not remember if warning light came on but it was not there prior to the incident. Towed to dealer. Fuel pump replaced. One month later accelerating to exit in heavy traffic it lost power. Engine light came on saying something to the effect engine power lost. It Started back up quickly and I got safely where I was going. It was running ok so I finished another 400 miles of trip. Dealer service tech on phone said probably stabilizer did what it’s suppose to do and probably avoided something serious. Not too much driving since then but I can tell I don’t have the pick up I should have when accelerating. Afraid each time I give pressure to the pedal that it might stall again as it doesn’t pick up speed as I’ve been used to. Taking to dealer for 30,000 mile service and to check this out. Was told if no dash light warning they could check it out but probably will check out fine.

SERVICE BRAKES
On or about 2/8-2/13/2025, I was on my way home when suddenly, without warning, I applied my brakes to slow down and the brake pedal was so hard, so stiff that even while I was literally standing on the pedal, I was unable to stop. I nearly rear-ended the vehicle in front of me. I was honking , and honking to get the car to move and thank God without another second to waste, he moved over. I could not stop the car, I had to let off the gas and let it coast to a stop. I called a mechanic friend and he towed my car in. My car is not under warranty any more therefore Alan, my mechanic friend went over my car and determined my Vacuum Brake Booster failed. I did do some research along with the mechanic and found that the Chevy Equinox (several yrs, including mine) had a recall for this same exact problem. I ran my VIN and my car is not included in the recall. The mechanic believes my car should be recalled for the brake system being faulty and he installed the new Vac Brake Booster. Now on 4/12/2025, only 2 months later, the same thing happened, my pedal is hard and I can't stop. The first time I felt like I was going to crash, kill myself or somebody else. The 2nd time I had to exit the roadway where there was only dirt, I ended up nearly flipping my car because the dirt caused me to nearly lose control. Again, I escaped causing a crash but at the risk of my own life by not being able to stop and having to leave the roadway to avoid a collision. I had the same mechanic, along with a family member who is experienced enough to understand what the mechanic showed him. It is the vac brake booster, the same part I just replaced, it failed. Without warnings, without any other factors that can explain what is causing this system to fail. I have not replaced this part again because I believe it is faulty by the GM factory and it will keep happening. I am scared it will continue to cause brake failure and I could potentially cause an accident that could be fatal.
