VISIBILITY/WIPER
There is a massive glare that comes up from the dashboard during the daytime. This is widely reported and widely complained about and feels incredibly dangerous, so there are countless pictures showing it. In bright light conditions, it literally makes seeing out the windshield almost impossible without really focusing to look past it. It's honestly amazing this was even allowed to be put into production in the first place.

AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS
We were in a 9car pile up. Front and back and drivers side were hit and severely damaged. Airbags did not deploy. After the accident smoke was seen coming from the sides of the car where the seat belts come out of. Both front and back were white puffs of smoke from all four seatbelts. The front passenger seatbelt failed to tighten on impact as all the other seatbelts did. Passenger was thrown about the front area, hitting multiple parts of the body. Car is currently in a tow lot. Insurance is going to inspect it.

Coming home from a trip without any warning our 2016 equinox scared me when it made a terrible sound lost power and stopped working. We’re 100’s miles away from home on the side of a road in the dark. We called for towing to a dealer payed for a hotel waited till the next day for it to be looked at. Told the engine was blown that the timing belt and everything in there was bent and in pieces 10,000-12,000 dollars to replace. Mind you this car is a ltz and very well talking care of. Without fixing it it’s worth 1000.00. Shame on gmc we should have been notified about issues. This happens at 80,000miles No warranty. I actually thought it caught on fire. Gm step up and take care of your life long customer that have owned Chevy always.

ENGINE
My car had been sitting for a week as we were off on vacation and when I came back the car would not start. Oil had been changed 1 week before that by Miller and Son. After towing it to Miller and Son Chevrolet (724-378-0542)we were told it was a timing chain issue and once they opened things up I was told the engine is ruined. The car only had 71,000 miles on it(I purchased it last year) We spoke to multiple mechanics who stated this was a common problem for this car and if the engine had failed while driving it could have caused a fire/accident. I have a [XXX] son and he very much could have been trapped in the car. If this is happening frequently as the mechanics have told me why has this not been recalled. I religiously had my oil changed as required. I tried calling GM (case #[XXX]) without much success. The dealer wants $9000 to put in a new engine which I need to get a loan to do but also my fear is will this happen again. I would appreciate you looking into this issue. Thank You. VISIBILITY/WIPER
Visibility is impacted due to the glare on the windshield from the dashboard sun reflection. Driver visibility is impaired enough to dangerous levels during based on sun reflection angles throughout the day. Traffic lights and lane markers may not be clear due to glare. Seems like many owners are having this problem only. Aftermarket dash mats are available to correct this issue, but it is not a certified product by the manufacturer. Elderly owners may not even be aware of any corrective measures.

SERVICE BRAKES
here is the email I sent to GM. My name is [XXX] and I am having a issue with my 2024 Chevy Equinox VIN: [XXX] . There have been about 5 times that the brakes fail. Pushing the brake does nothing car just keeps rolling. Once I can get the car to stop and shut it down and restart the brakes once again work. It was in for service for a few days but there where no error codes and they could not replicate the problem. They did do a update on the car. While my car was in the shop I had the same problem with a Malibu rental. Called the dealership and talked to service and told them of the problem seems to be me somehow. Was asked if I use both feet to gas/brake the car as I was told there is a problem with that. No I don't do that but it seems I can catch both peddles with one foot and this is when the problem occurs. I have to make sure how I brake. Have found out today when it happened once again that if I put the car in neutral and press the gas the brakes start to work but not until then. There also was another issue today as when I did get the car to stop and put it in park I could not put the car back in gear until I shut the car off and restarted. Can someone let me know on how to proceed other then cautiously. I would take the car back in but they can fix a problem they don't see. Any insight would be appreciated. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the instrument panel lights became dim/flicker, and the vehicle lost automotive power. The contact mentioned she pulled over to the right side and left the vehicle at the scene. In addition, the contact drove back to the scene where the vehicle was parked, and she noticed the state trooper and a tow company. No injuries were sustained. No medical attention. The contact mentioned the fire happened overnight. The vehicle extinguished independently. A fire department mentioned to the contact that there were calls about the fire and that the fire was coming from the engine. However, the fire report was unknown. A police report was filed. On [XXX], about 400 miles into our trip heading South on [XXX], the Engine Reduced Power Warning came on. We were in the fast lane traveling at 70 MPH,the car immediately slowed to about 30 mph.There was no prior warning or check engine light. Vehicles behind us had to swerved and change lanes to avoid hitting us. The computer went into limp mode, when pressing the accelerator there was no power, we somehow made it to the right shoulder without getting hit and limped along to a safe spot and called a tow truck. Car was towed to an independent repair shop recommended by AAA, they ran the codes and came up with a code for High pressure Fuel pump. This vehicle is a 2024 Chevy Equinox with 15,018 miles on it, we bought brand new in April 2024 with 5 miles, always maintained at the dealer.Because we were 400 miles from home and the closest dealer in Bakersfield said they could not work on it for 3 or 4 days, we had to have the independent shop replace the fuel pump. We had to rent a car to continue our trip and picked up the car 2 days later. Replacing the fuel pump fixed the problem but the check engine light came back on about 30 miles later. The mechanic ran the codes and said it needed the computer re-flashed but it would be safe to drive home. After we got home we took it to the dealer, they re-flashed the computer and check engine light went off.After about 30 miles later the check engine light came back on, took it back to the dealer and this time the codes showed a bad catalyst converter, dealer replaced under warranty, only 15728 miles on vehicle at this point. So far 200 miles and light is still off.I I filed a complaint with General Motors customer service to let them know of this problem. I also requested to get reimbursement for the rental car and fuel pump.They refused to reimburse us because we didn't have a dealer do it, regardless of the situation. POWER TRAIN, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
The gear selection is on the steering column and to change from Park to Reverse or Drive takes usually over six attempts to get in the right gear. When your entering traffic and you get delayed trying to put the car into the proper gear this becomes a very dangerous safety issue. General Motors refuses to advise me how to deal with this problem unless I give them the name of an attorney who will represent me.

Test drove and bought the car on an overcast day. Next day is bright and sunny - the dashboard glares like a mother. What moron designed this Picasso? Did GM R&D even drive the car? The safety hazard is you can’t see the road through the dashboard glare. I’d say that puts myself and others at risk. Should’ve known not to buy American.

POWER TRAIN
On Sunday, [XXX] (a very hot day in Michigan. My vehicle registered 100 degrees) I was driving on [XXX] about 70-73 mph when I got an alert that said (to the best of my recollection) TOO HOT - IDLE IMMEDIATELY! and there was a continuous high pitch beeping which I only heard after turning off the radio. I continued at highway speed for a good 2-3 miles to the next exit afraid at any minute my car would start smoking. I exited and had to stop at a red light before turning left into a Kroger plaza with a fuel station. When the light turned green I accelerated and a grinding sound came from my car. I pulled into the plaza and turned the car off but had to turn it back on in about a minute as it was too hot to sit in car without air conditioning. It started and idled just fine. I googled roadside service and got a nice fellow (on a SUNDAY!) and he arrived in about 40 minutes. He towed me 40 miles away to a recommended auto shop that on Monday told me it was my transmission cooler that was defective and that I needed a transmission shop for a new transmission. It was then towed another 20 minutes away where it stayed for 9 days. Cost: $6564.48 plus $150 for paying with a credit card so totaled $6714.48. My drive train warranty was only good to 60,000 miles/5 years and I have 76,000 miles on my car at the time. Was told the transmission cooler was defective so I asked to have the cooler part and I have it in my garage. I spent over $1000 at the dealership in the months of Feb/March/April 2025 as my car hit the 70,000 mile mark so I had them do all work required by the car manual.
