SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On 10/26/25 at approximately 3:40pm while on a freeway (traveling approximately 65mph) with no traffic or cars in close proximity for the automatic brakes to be engaged, the 2025 ev equinox slammed its brakes on its own without driver braking. This caused whiplash to be experienced by two of the three passengers and it felt like we were rear ended but no cars were around. This is very dangerous. Had there been car behind me this would have caused serious accident.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I had an issue starting the vehicle. Once it started the check engine light was lit. I stopped at the nearest Autozone for a diagnostic check and the code P00C6 registered for Fuel Pump. I had the vehicle checked by a mechanic and he explained to me this vehicle has (2) fuel pumps. One in the fuel tank and one on the engine, which is considered a high pressure fuel pump. That is where the failure is and the pump requires special tools to install. It is something they can not do and recommend the vehicle go to the dealer. I am submitting this complaint regarding an ongoing and serious safety-related timing chain issue with my 2013 Chevrolet Equinox LT. The timing chain loses tension intermittently, which places the vehicle at immediate risk of significant engine damage, stalling, or complete loss of power during operation. This issue compromises the vehicle’s ability to operate safely in traffic. A sudden failure of the timing chain system can result in abrupt engine shutdown, without any warning lights or diagnostic codes to alert the driver. This creates a dangerous situation, particularly when traveling at highway speeds, merging into traffic, or navigating intersections. The timing chain defect in this model appears to be a known and recurring problem among owners of similar GM engines, and there is evidence suggesting design flaws contributing to premature wear and tension problems. However, this vehicle has not been included in prior recalls addressing similar timing chain failures. I rely on this vehicle for essential travel and live on SSDI, which limits my ability to cover repeated high-cost repairs for what appears to be a manufacturer-related safety defect. The risk of sudden engine failure with no prior indication is unacceptable and warrants further investigation. I respectfully request NHTSA review this concern as a potential recall safety issue, given the clear risk of power loss and danger to both myself and other drivers on the road.

After I purchased my vehicle, 2026 chevy equinox rs, I noticed severe distortion on the front windshield. I had it replaced once, with the same problem. They were going to put another windshield in but we wanted to see it first, which was worse than the first two. I do not like the feeling of being car sick. Also, the transmission slipped once, while driving. It felt like it went into neutral and then back into gear. The dealer looked at it and could not find anything wrong. It was good for a few weeks and then it did it again.

Problem with transmission not shifting properly. Also, the subframe is rusting out because water from the air conditioning unit falls directly on the subframe at that point both are safety hazards My service provider told me about the subframe rusting when I had my oil changed and why it was rusting and I have my transmission checked by a transmission specialist and the oil changed at that point in time

Some kind of malfunction with the sunroof caused the sunroof to open without me knowing. Only the glass part opened. The top part of the car on the inside right above the door was wet down toward the side near the brake pedal fuse box that was filled with water. Sunroof will not close. Was told we needed to replace motors

Telematics module failure. Causes GPS to provide erroneous navigation prior to complete failure. Started as 1/2 mile, then grew to over 30 mile deviation from actual location. The module also takes out several safety and monitoring systems monitored by OnStar. All in-car communications are lost, which means driver has to revert to using a cell phone directly for basic functions proved through infotainment system.

Electrically, the time will not stay set at the correct time.Nor will the date. Other issue is there will be a loud roaring sound when driving. This happens frequently, there are no codes that pop up. No, one is sure what the loud roaring is.

I have 2023 Jayco Redhawk SE mounted on a Chevy Express 4500 Cutaway chassis with only 5300 miles on it. Chevrolet dealer ran diagnostics and replaced an ABS sensor which had no impact on the problem. I have an appointment to have it looked at by another dealership recommended by Chevy Customer Service. It is not safe to drive, going up straight steep grades on the interstate the right rear wheel keeps locking up under acceleration. Best I can tell the system just starts braking hard on the right rear and maybe both rear wheels even though you are trying to accelerate. It gets worse on steep entrance and exit ramps or steep curvy roads. Almost always when this happens there is traffic following closely at highway speeds (55 to 70 MPH).

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox. While the contact's wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the vehicle, and the front sunroof panel fractured. The contact's wife had described the loud sound as like a loud gunshot. The contact stated that the sunroof glass had fractured without impact to the sunroof. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the sunroof needed to be replaced. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,500.

Pulling into traffic car stalled without warning. Went from about 25 MPH to a complete stop in approximately in less than 100 feet. Car sputtered with transmission grabbing intermittently as it jerked to a stop. Restarted about several times with similar behavior. (Covered under 60,000-mile warranty (actual mileage ~55,000)). Replaced fuel pump driver control module to correct. No accident due to distance to on-coming traffic, but easily could have caused an accident during high traffic conditions.

I had the excessive oil consumption recall repair done when it was recalled originally, however the problem has returned and from my research it appears that the piston rings were not the proper size to stop the oil from blowing back out the exhaust. Is there anything I can do about that as far as having those repairs covered again?

I’ve had the 02 sensor, maf sensor and a system update and my check engine won’t clear I’ve been dealing with this for over 5 months now. A Chevy dealership has had my vehicle and never informed me of warranty or recall issues.my check engine is throwing random code relating to the 02 sensor, lean code and multiple components having communication issues. Check engine will be lit and then clear on its own then return almost immediately

It keeps throwing an error and my truck goes into Reduced engine power mode. It happens out of nowhere. One minute it's fine the next my engine starts to reduce power and I can't go faster then 25 mph. We have already replaced the high pressure fuel rail sensor and the fuel pump. It still is having this issue.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that while accelerating from a stoplight, the engine seized without any warning lights illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 147,000.
