My car was purchased used at a Chevrolet dealership. I noticed right away that the carjerks when I accelerate, it also stalls when trying to accelerate when making a turn which cam cause an accident. The vehicle revs and slowly moves and then takes off. Its a dragging motion when driving its very slow. The steering wheel locks when turning as if I need power steering fluid. This car is a hazard, waiting to happen. When starting it, it makes this loud humming noise. I just had it inspected and the mechanic said the car was fine, but driving it is a different story.

The contact stated the failure persisted and the vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. An unknown software was updated however, a month later the failure recurred with the screen. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The dealer had replaced the radio console to fix the issue however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The engine/timing chain and heads for my 2017 Chevrolet Equinox failed. I only had this vehicle for 4 years 4 months with only 113,000 miles. I feel my safety was put at risk because out of nowhere my vehicle began jerking and bucking back in forth very badly. I had my vehicle totally diagnosed with Gateway Tire Center and Service, which cost me $283.17, just for a diagnosis. My vehicle has not been inspected due to this vehicle was brand new with zero miles when I purchased it on October 30, 2016. All maintenance has been kept up regularly on my vehicle. Before my vehicle all of sudden quit running there were no indications that there was a problem until the engine light popped on after it started the jerking and bucking back in forth. I am highly upset with the dealership who sold me this vehicle because I know they knew this vehicle would not operate any more after a certain amount of mileage. I should not have to be trying to car shop this early on for a new vehicle. I am only 13000 to 14000 miles outside of my warranty with this vehicle it is no way I should have to either purchase a new engine or buy a new vehicle. I need something done about this immediately.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Back in early October 2020, vehicle had about 2000 miles on it. I noticed that when I started up the vehicle The Brake Assist Service message came on the brakes were spongy and had vibrating feel. I drove about a half of a mile and the problem stopped. The engine light came on and stayed on but then went out. Everything was ok for about two weeks when it did it again light came on took it a dealer but light went off. They serviced the vehicle and seem that the problem had stopped. Then in Early April of 2021 it happened again. Took it to the same dealership, they replace some more parts. Week or two weeks later same issue. Took it back to the dealership. They replaced the engine control module. During all these times, an engine light would soon follow after the message about the brake assist message. Thought it was fixed. On June 14 2021 at 1:14PM started my vehicle up the SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST message came on called the dealership. The brakes were vibrating and were not smooth. I stopped and turned off the vehicle and restarted the vehicle message went away brakes appeared to be fine. This time however no engine came on. Dealership was willing to service the vehicle but if the engine light wasn't on it would hard to diagnosed. I took a picture of the message before it had clear. On July 8th 2021, at 2:08PM, I started my vehicle and the SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST message came on. I took a photo of it. I tested the brakes appear to be ok. Turned the vehicle off the message didn't show again. My son borrow the vehicle and he got into an accident the same day approximately 6 hours. He swerved to avoid hitting a deer. He said that brakes appeared not to slow him down. He left roadway and struck a tree head on. The vehicle caught fire and he was lucky to escape. The vehicle was destroyed by the fire and crash. Not putting blame on anyone because I know there were other contributing factors to the accident . I just wanted to report this because of past problems with GM.

While on the highway in the rain, the wipers were engaged to the highest setting and suddenly went was the windshield and stopped working. The wipers are in perfect condition, the wiper motor no longer engages or turns on. Super lucky to not have crashed as I had ZERO visibility from the rain.

The contact stated that while driving downhill at approximately 20-30 mph, the brake pedal was depressed however, the vehicle instead independently accelerated and crashed through an electric gate. The contact stated that the air bags failed to deploy. There was no warning light illuminated. There were no injuries sustained. The contact stated that the passenger’s side of the vehicle was severely damaged causing approximately $6,000 in damages to the vehicle and the electric gate. The vehicle was repaired, and the passenger’s side door was replaced. The contact stated that two days after the vehicle was picked up from the repair shop, while attempting to reverse out of a parking spot, the brake pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to stop in a reasonable amount of time. The contact stated that the vehicle slowly stopped and that the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,400. The Vin was invalid.

My 2016 Chevrolet Equinox caught on fire about 10 minutes after my accident. I rear ended a pickup truck going about 5-10 miles an hour. Although nobody was hurt, I don't think SUVs should catch on fire. I'm unaware if this problem is frequent in 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, but there wasn't any warning of the sudden fire that appeared from the engine, i.e. sirens, sounds from within the car. I'm unaware if Chevrolet, law enforcement or the insurance company has inspected the vehicle after the accident?

VISIBILITY/WIPER
I was driving back from Albany to Troy NY on 787 in a steady light rain when the rain roared to full torrential downpour. I put my wipers from the regular steady setting up to high, and they instantly both went all the way to the left and turned off in the upright position. They would not respond again. Middle lane, 65 mph, thunderstorm, and I can’t see anything out my windshield and cars are flying beside me on both sides. I rolled my window down but couldn’t see around my hood to the road and steer at the same time. I couldn’t get to the right lane to pull over because of the traffic and even if I could it was dangerous to be on a narrow shoulder at that point in this rainstorm. I put my flashers on, slowed to 40 and stayed in the middle lane as best I could based on the white lane markers as I still had zero visibility out my windshield. One I was past the last of the on ramps for that section I could pull over to the right lane at least and I got off at the next exit. Once I was on a city street to pull over, there was still so much traffic I had to wait until I could get out and put my wipers at least in the down position. They did not feel broken or slack at all. I waited a while for the rain to let up, but it would soon be dark, so I decided to slowly drive the rest of the way. it took me a half hour to drive the length of Troy on side streets slow enough so I had some measure of visibility in the still downpour. I cannot believe the wipers stopped working at the high speed setting on a highway in the middle of a storm. I could have crashed my car easily. What if my children had been with me? A failure like this is unacceptable and incredibly dangerous. It is a holiday weekend. I will call the dealership tomorrow in hopes they are open to speak to them about this.
