Symptoms

Fault Codes / DTCs

When the airbag warning light is on, technicians will find the following Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) stored in the airbag control module (J234):

Technical Background

The "Multiple collision brake" function is managed by the ABS control module (J104) and is part of the ABS/ESC system. This deactivation triggers both the ESC warning light and the Audi airbag warning light B13BCF2 in the instrument cluster.

While the ESC warning light may turn off after the next ignition cycle if the brake system error is sporadic, the airbag warning light will remain on permanently. The DTC B13BCF2 in the airbag control module must be manually erased to turn off the light and reactivate the "Multiple collision brake" system.

Important Warnings

• Do not replace the airbag control module. The TSB explicitly states: "Replacing the airbag control module does not solve this issue. Claims for replaced parts will be subject to review."
