POWER TRAIN
February 19,2024. Towing a bumper pull toy hauler approximately 10,000 pounds, just merged onto a two lane highway when the check engine light came on and truck jerked a couple times, I pulled to side of highway where there is not much of a shoulder. I placed it in park, sat a few seconds then into drive when I noticed no forward motion in drive. I turned truck off a few minutes, restarted, check engine light still on, no movement in drive mode. I did have reverse functioning. This was very dangerous situation, high speed two lane highway, small shoulder, many large RVs and 18 wheeler trucks flying by. 5 weeks truck is at dealer, they say it’s done, they attempt to bring it to me at the shop, then tell me check engine light on, throwing multiple codes. They still have truck, tell me they will find out issue asap.

POWER TRAIN, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Sudden loss of forward gears. Failure happened on highway at highway speeds. Had to carefully maneuver the truck off the road. Failure in both towing and unloaded operation. Truck will not shift in or out of drive (1-4) but reverse is still functional. Diagnostic trouble code P0731-00 and P0734 "Gear 1 and 4 Shift Incorrect Ratio". Both the dealer and RAM confirm this transmission failure. RAM has realeased a TSB which covers this failure but hasn’t released a recall.

For over 3 months the ABS Brake warning, the anti skid control and the cruise has not worked in my truck. I have had it to two different dealers, and opened a case with Ram. Case#89336043. They told me part is not available and has not been for the past year. Just drive my truck like it is??? I dont really know what options i have at this point. Please help!

The warning light comes on and then the traction control goes off and the cruise control will disengage all at once. There is also no trailer brake assist. This has been verified by a dealer in Columbus, GA. It is constantly going off and on. The warning light and the warning bell are a constant distraction to the driver. The truck was bought and within 50K miles it started. No warning.

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH and towing an RV, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted, after which the contact became aware that the vehicle was only able to shift into reverse. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 17,000.

POWER TRAIN
On [XXX] I was driving my newly purchased 2022 Ram 3500 on [XXX] near Mead, CO when my check engine light illuminated and I immediately lost forward driving gears. I was able to coast safely to the side of the highway. I purchased this truck new on [XXX] from Perkins Motors in Colorado Springs. After stopping on the side of [XXX], I attempted to continue forward but had no power. I placed the truck in reverse and felt a sudden jerk. I then placed the truck in park and shut it off. The truck had 1,043 miles on the odometer when the transmission failed. I waited on the side of the highway for 15 hours to be towed 110 miles to the Ram dealership closest to my home. My truck spent 5 weeks at the dealership waiting on parts. Colorado Springs Ram service department informed me that the snap ring in the K1 clutch kit had failed. ABS/TRACTION CONTROL light comes on and goes off at random times while driving. Sometimes when I hit a bump, other times just going down a smooth street or even sitting at a stop light or just sitting at idle in a parking lot. When the lights are on I do not have use of cruise control, traction Control or ABS. I had the code read. It shows c2200-49 ABS internal electronic failure C0020-01 ABS pump motor control - general electrical failure. This has been a problem for about 2 years, and started around 85k miles. Sometimes it happens 30-40x in a 30min drive, other times I'll go weeks with the system working properly, then It starts acting up again. I just recently heard they were investigating the 2018 models for this issue.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle at highway speeds, the steering wheel felt loose, and the steering was unstable, causing the vehicle to become difficult to control. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the outboard steering linkage jam nut had become loosened. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 139,000.

The ABS HCU failed and sent a "service electronic brake" warning to the dash. The replacement part was in short supply by Stellantis because there are so many vehicles with this problem. The dealer is limited to one part replacement per week.

STEERING
The V06 Drag Link recall of welding the adjuster doesn't allow a complete front end alignment to be done correctly. If you have had the adjuster welded, you cannot re-center the steering wheel with the adjustments that have been provided by the manufacture. This itself presents a safety issue with the steering wheel now being off centered! I have not had the welding done and have been trying to get the drag link replaced since it has become loose again! Independent repair shops won't touch a RAM truck that has been welded or not do to liability. The replacement parts are now in stock and they should be replaced since the way that RAM says to now do an alignment only allow toe and camber but not re-centering of your steering wheel. I have confirmed that with RAM service. Ram Cares has not helped in this matter. Have a previous Request #1273536 with NHTSA. This is a major safety issue for myself and others on the road. I live in northern California near San Francisco, and we were traveling from Cottonwood, AZ back to our home. Back in June of 2023 we were traveling near Kingman, AZ and had the front passenger tire explode, almost losing control of the truck and trailer. We were at 19524 miles on the truck. At the time I thought that maybe I had hit something. But two months later I took the trailer to Carson City, NV for work and just before I got into Reno the truck started to shake from side to side in the front and the next day I took it to a tire shop and they told me that the driver’s front tire was getting ready to come apart and I had only put about 800 miles on the truck since the first tire had exploded. This was when I realized the issue was the tires. I immediately had all 6 tires replaced. You can find a lot of bad comments about these tires on-line with comments like what happened to me. EXAMPLE [XXX] In response to your questions 1.I don’t have the tires that died just pictures. 2.After the blowout steering was difficult. 3.No Dealer confirmation. 4.No inspections. 5.Before the first tire exploded for about 20 miles I noticed a vibration in the front end. The contact owns a 2020 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle was shaking and then lost motive power. The check engine warning light later illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 21V880000 (Fuel System, Diesel), 21V398000 (Wheels), and 22V904000 (Structure) were performed. However, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then towed to Gulfgate Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram (7250 Gulf Fwy, Houston, TX 77017), where it was diagnosed that the fuel line had failed, and the fuel injectors and fuel rail needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

SERVICE BRAKES
My electronic braking system and abs is malfunctioning with a light on in the dash, it started out intermittently and is now constant. Took it to local dealer and they ordered parts to repair it but told me they were on back order and then Chrysler canceled the order on them unbeknownst to me or the dealer. Contacted Chrysler and they have no idea when parts will be available. I can get no guarantee on weather or not my truck is safe to drive as is.
