There was smoke coming from from the engine compartment and spontaneous fire started while the car was at a stop light. The car was totally damaged. The car has less than 15000 miles driven. It is still under warranty. Information was sent to Mercedes-Benz USA with a certified mail and immediately via email from the dealership. Also was reported where the vehicle was stored if they wanted to investigate the engine. Benz USA just wanted me to fill out their standard report form. The towing company also told me that they had to tow another Benz not long ago from engine fire.

Brake pedal became "spongy" and then total brake failure with dashboard warnings to check brake fluid. Caused by corroded brake lines that failed and allowed all brake fluid to be lost in the system. Extremely dangerous as no braking was available.

On Thursday September 12, 2024, I took my vehicle into the Mercedes Benz of Novi dealership located at 39500 Grand River Avenue in Novi, Michigan to have them diagnose and repair the passenger seat due to the seat bouncing, vibrating and rattling while driving the vehicle. Technicians from dealership took the car out and they noted the passenger seat bounced and vibrated as they were driving the vehicle out for the test drive. Technicians from the dealer stated "there cannot be anything done for the vehicle and to call the manufacturer's Customer Care number." While standing in at the service desk at the dealership, I called the Customer Care number (1-800-367-6372) and documented this issue, and the dealer's response, under Case #[XXX]. The Customer Care representative heard the technicians response and included it in case number noted above (see attached) On Monday, September 16th, the dealership contacted me and advised me to bring the vehicle back in to diagnose the same issue. The vehicle was taken back in on Tuesday September 17th. Upon picking up the vehicle on Tuesday September 17th, I was told that all the vehicles of this particular year, make and model has the same problem and that there is nothing they can do about it. I believe this is an extreme occupant safety concern and should be addressed by the manufacturer. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11614116September 12, 2024EXTERIOR LIGHTING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Main instrument cluster and infotainment system locked up during driving after dark, the screens froze and then went black. All exterior lights went out during driving. No speedometer or other warning lights are working. It is a serious safety issue! Turning the car off, waiting 10 minutes, and starting it again did not fix the issue no matter what i did trying to recover the system. The screens either turn on and stay frozen or they stay dark. The engine starts but all instruments are not working, and all UI controls are unresponsive. It appears that very many other drivers reporting similar safety issues with 2024 Mercedes E350 on the [XXX] user forum and the manufacturer (Mercedes) is not recalling and/or fixing this serious and known issues but keeps selling defective and dangerous cars! I just got delivery of my brand-new car today and the major safety related systems failed in less than 10 miles of driving! In addition, something in the car consumes a lot of electrical power from the 12V battery while the car is parked and locked. I am receiving notifications from the car via Mercedes app that the battery is "very low" after about an hour after parking it. - #11614216September 12, 2024FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
The fuel pump on my vehicle failed multiple times, including coming off start / stop at traffic lights, as well as when being started. When at a stop light turning from red to green, my car did not respond, putting me in danger of being hit from behind. The vehicle is being repaired under warranty at a manufacturer dealership. It appears this is a known issue under NHTSA recall 23V445000, although my vehicle is not currently included in the recall after a VIN search of the NHTSA check for recalls page. My vehicle exhibited the same signs as others affected by this recall, including flashing "malfunction" when it occurred.

On Three (3) occasions, my engine has Stopped while the car was in gear and in motion. I was at great risk when this happened twice on August 7, 2024 while in traffic and my car stopped in the middle of traffic. One time I was able to coast into a parking lot. However, the second time the car stopped in the traffic lane. I was very lucky not to have been hit in the rear. In each case, I was able to restart the engine. One time I received a "Malfunction" notice on the dashboard. I immediately took the car to a Mercedes dealer for evaluation on August 8, 2024.. Dealer found Diagnostic Code P060C00 and did a "Standstll Adaption". On September 29, 2024, the engine once again stopped running while the car was in Reverse gear (Third Time) and I was backing out of a parking space. No malfunction notice appeared on the dash. I have an appointment on September 3, 2024, with the Mercedes dealer to leave the car. In all three case there has been No warning that there was a problem. The engine simply sputters and stopped. Only one "Malfunction" has appeared after the engine has stopped. The question on "speed" was not answered as I was in Stop and Go traffic on the first two times the engine stopped.

The fuel pump filter failed and myself and grandchildren became sickened by the fumes. Once the back seat was removed and inspected by an independent source you could see how the gas had leaked into this area. There was no warning lights or messages that had appeared. This problem could easily ignited a dangerous fire situation.

An underbody splash shield (one of three, I believe), covering the transmission (the middle of the three) detached at highway speed and fell off the vehicle. This caused the leading edge of another shield to detach, which then, due to air flow, began dragging the highway. It was quite a noise; initially I thought it was a tire blow out. I quickly decelerated to try to move to an exit (it was urban highway with no shoulders), at lower speeds, the panel stopped dragging. There was no road debris involved in the event. The first panel simply detached (and was not recovered / recoverable due to the location) leading to the second. The initial mechanic replaced two bolts to secure the second panel. He said this is not uncommon on Mercedes Benz vehicles and seemingly knew exactly what was needed (I was expecting duct tape on a weekend morning). Later, after some discussion, the dealer (the car was under warranty; only 13,000 miles) replaced the missing panel as a "courtesy" but not under warranty (because they said I did not have the missing part).

The engine in these cars are defective and can cause serious harm due to a part that was put inside the motor made of plastic. There was a lawsuit but if you didn’t get in on it you losses out for not knowing. I was recently at Mercedes dealership to fix recalls and they brushed me off. The car can catch fire and I’m already experiencing engine failure after only owning the car for a year. They don’t care because it’s an old car but it’s still being sold to unsuspecting buyers. I’m not the only one there are thousands of us who are at risk driving these cars because Mercedes won’t admit their off the showroom floor mistake.

The master central screen as well as the passenger screen that contains all features for radio, navigation, control of reading road signs, climate control and the like go BLACK randomly during the four weeks I have owned the 2024 E Class Mercedes. It will reboot after 2-5 minutes with no lost data. Dealer in Cherry Hill, NJ did major software update not completed at time of purchase. But incident happened after two weeks. Others with this make, year and model have same situations with dealerships not knowing anything. Supposedly, Mercedes knows but a solution may be three months or more. This is a safety issue as if happens at night, you lose all connections even to the cell phone and no speed sign indicator on. You cannot see anything but the driver screen with just the speed you are doing. Cruise control disengages which is using all security systems and navigation map.

Driving on interstate, hit the brakes and noticed the car was swaying hard to the left. After that it progressively got worse. When hitting even the smallest bump or braking I heard a metal on metal ‘thunk’ sound. My daughters were in the car and it was frightening. Upon further inspection by a Mercedes mechanic, the secondary frame had rusted and snapped into. After reading forums online I found it’s very common. They rust from the inside out. There was absolutely NO previous warning.
