The sub frame of this car is being replaced under a warranty extension due to severe rusting and separation creating an extremely unsafe driving condition. It was determined during inspection the rear brake lines were also corroded. This is also due to environmental exposure and substandard materials of construction. Many E classes of the W212 and prior have this concern but Mercedes is not covering the brake lines as part of this warranty. In fact they are charging up to $4000 to replace with the subframe already removed!! This is highly concerning as this is a safety concern that must be covered.

The contact owns a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a fuel odor perforating through the interior of the vehicle. The driver later reported feeling ill which she attributed to the fuel odor in the vehicle and determined to discontinue driving the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who was able to smell the fuel odor but was unable to provide a diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to another independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the fuel pump. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V792000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 147,000.

Since May 2024, I had taken my car in for repairs at 3 different shops for same exact issue diagnosed as leak from air intake system. It has been repaired 7 times since it first occurred in May 2024, and unfortunately it is still not resolved. This is a potential danger to the driver because all of a sudden there will be loud noise from the engine, car will start misfiring and slow down the speed. The previous 3 attempts of repair were made at Mercedes Benz of West Covina. The car is non drivable at the moment.

Brake lines are rusted and corroded. It appears that the rust may have spread from rust on the rear subframe. The rear subframe warranty was extended for premature rust and failure, but the brake lines are not covered. This could have led to a dangerous situation. I've never had a vehicles brake lines rust like this. They should also extend the warranty coverage to cover rusted brake lines.

I don’t know why your system is stating that there is not a recall there definitely is a recall in 2023. They recalled the subframe with the extended warranty covering it because it’s been corroded and nearly dropped out of the bottom of my car. I only found out that it was so rusted and corroded by taking it to an auto mechanic because my brakes spongy and my brake light came on, so I took it in automatically to get looked at, and the mechanic said that I needed two rear brake lines, and then proceeded to tell me about the corrosion all around my subframe which needed to be replaced, which is under warranty however, my question is why is the brake lines not covered when I’ve been reading numerous complaints about the corrosion of it and yet they still have not put an extended warranty to cover that Which they should do now before a definite recall is set in place with all of the complaints coming in. I’m very upset because now Mercedes is telling me that another $3000 job. I do not have an additional $3000 for this to get fixed so I ask you, how can I get some help here?

- #11619351October 11, 2024UNKNOWN OR OTHER, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Q1: Yes, it is available for inspection upon request. The instrument cluster showed some messages* randomly appearing/beeping on and off but there were other issues present: • Acceleration not possible in drive • At one point transmission would not shift from gear 3 • *Speedometer would go up and down randomly until it eventually stayed at 0 physically and digitally as I was going 55-60 MPH • *Check Engine light ON • *Red ‘Brake’ light ON • *ABS failed • *Distance sensors failed • *Stability control failed • *Electronic braking system failed • *Power steering failed • *Cruise control failed • *Mercedes PRE-SAFE failed • *Blind Spot Assist failed • *Lane Keeping Assist failed • *Adaptive Highbeam Assist failed • *Mileage was not displaying on the dash • Car would not shut off as I pushed the off button when I managed to eventually stop • *Climate temperature sensor reaching temps of 127 degrees Fahrenheit. Q2: I lost control of the vehicle while driving on the highway at relevant speeds. I was unable to safely stop for some time. If this had been at night, the issue would have been even more dangerous. This car has previously slammed on the brakes erroneously (no visually perceived danger of a forward collision). These previous brake slamming issues happened once in a traffic jam on the highway and once on a main road. Q3: Not that I know of or remember, no. Q4: Before this latest incident, I have previously left my car at the dealership’s workshop to be inspected for some relevant issues and concerns that I have had. It was there for almost 2 months on one occasion. Q5: There was only one warning lamp on the instrument cluster related to the collision prevention assist being inoperative. This message has been on the dash for maybe a year or more. The times it previously slammed on the brakes erroneously, no messages were on the dash.

The known Subframe rust recall issue has caused the brake lines to rust and mercedes in St Louis wont cover the expense to fix this known extra problem. They want $2200.00 to fix the brakes that other dealers would charge half for. They want to escape this problem and I just want this fixed at their cost.

This is NOT about my car with the VIN that I described. It is to report that my car saved my life thanks to ability to brake by itself when detecting accident. 2 months ago I almost collided with Tesla Cybertruck!. The reason that I almost was hit was that Tesla driver didn't yield at the intersection, and I did not see the fast-coming truck AT ALL because of how it is designed. I'm referring to lack of larger front, side and rear reflectors, etc. Existing lights are tiny, hidden and invisible at certain angles and lighting. Driver did not turn headlights on making this truck totally invisible because of its color, stainless steel that's grey and matching the color of light at that time of a day. I am very surprised that a vehicle like Tesla Cybertruck received certification to be driven on US public roads since it does not have a single reflector, red or orange, on either side or the rear/ front of the vehicle that's easily visible at all times and weather conditions endangering all public on the road. I would like to file a formal complaint against Tesla, DOT, NHTSA. Please inform me about the formal way of filing a complaint and all necessary forms that I will need to do so. This is in the best interest of all drivers, passengers and anybody who may get hurt or killed by this non-compliant vehicle. I have contacted Tesla via letter about 2 months ago but have not received any response from car Manufacturer who ultimately is responsible for designing dangerous vehicle, and DOT and other Agencies for issuing certification for a non-compliant vehicle. This is a PZEV vehicle. When the car is filled over 3/4th of the way, the driver's side near the back tire starts to leak the fuel. There was no warning lights, just the smell and the leaks. It's obvious why this is a safety hazard. This was not inspected by anyone other than myself as it was quite obvious after removing the back seat and accessing the sending unit location. This started after I resolved a fuel pump issue (back in March, resolved this month) Mercedes refused to handle ($3k) and noticed on or around 9/24/24.

I have a 2014 E350 Coupe. It has a major fuel leak that is immensely dangerous and could cause immediate harm/death if I did not remove the seat and inspect the fuel line. There is a recall on the 4 door model for reference. 15V-792 / 2015110006 Recall Summary A fitting that joins the fuel hose and fuel feed line may develop a leak or completely disconnect. This can cause a fire hazard, fuel odor and potentially stall the engine while operating the vehicle. The fuel line fitting connecting the fuel hose and fuel feed line may be flared improperly, causing a possible leak or disconnection of the fuel line. Dealers will install the correct fuel line free of charge to resolve the concern. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2014 E350 and E350 4Matic sedans manufactured June 4, 2014, to July 9, 2014. The affected vehicles were built with a fuel feed line that has a single flare fitting instead of a double flare fitting.
