DEATH WOBBLE. While driving at freeway speeds hitting a road bump my Jeep went into a severe uncontrollable shaking wherein the entire car was moving sideways and in an up and down motion. i did some research online and found this condition to be a common Jeep Wrangler problem. i brought the car to the dealer and they said it is a known problem with the steering damper. In my research online, many believe the problem is the tie rod, drag link and ball joints are the cause and the steering damper just masks the symptoms until it wears out. i had a third party off road repair shop look at the suspension parts and they noted the drag link had play within the bushings and recommended it be replaced. Upon not visit to the dealer, i asked them to check it out and they said everything was fine except the steering damper was bad. I had the replace the steering damper. I am still getting a shaking vibration at freeway speeds while hitting a bump in the road. it is not as severe but it definitely shakes the steering wheel and the vehicle enough to be concerned that something is wrong with the suspension. If you search DEATH WOBBLE you will find the exact condition i am experiencing. Jeep says everything is okay with the vehicle and yet I am still experiencing a vibration. my warranty expires 5/29/25. thank you [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The IPC short circuited and has not been functioning since November of 2024. There is no gas gauge, fuel gauge or way to see any check engine lights. There is an active recall for jeeps 2018-2024 under NHTSA recall number 24V-652. No accidents or anything to cause this panel to be blank. Drove it the night before, parked and when I started it the following morning the entire panel was black.

The gas indicator indicated that I had 35 miles left to empty, it showed an eighth of a tank still available but completely shut down on me on the freeway. The car completely shut down to the point that I was not even able to pop it in neutral to help roll it to a safer place further off the highway. Fine, the gas gauge is wrong, but not being able to put it in neutral for my own safety and the safety of others is unacceptable.

The car started to shake uncontrollably at highway speed without warning. Steering was very difficult. It was difficult to even see out of the vehicle due to extreme shaking. The car is going to the dealer to be examined. This is a low mileage daily driver, completely stock, with no modifications.

While driving on a highway at the 55 mph speed limit, the vehicle suddenly lost power and I was only able to travel at around 40 mph. The incident happened at a busy time on this two-lane highway and it caused traffic to back up behind me and for people to pass me until I could turn at the next intersection. I was only a mile or so away from my residence and I was able to make it home under the reduced power. The 4xe battery was at <1% and I was driving in hybrid mode at the time of the incident. I recharged the battery overnight and have driven it only a few miles since, with no further incidents. I purchased the vehicle used 2 weeks ago with under 17K miles on the odometer. I have not reported the incident to the dealership from which I purchased the vehicle, as they are not a Jeep dealership and I doubt that they would have a clue as to the cause of the problem.

Purchased this vehicle used from Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Mesa, Arizona. I was told the tires were newer and in great shape they looked to have a good amount of tread on them. However, I had an issue with one tire and the dealership patched it incorrectly making it a safety hazard Therefore they replaced one tire with the plug and when I went to a tire place for pressure issues and TPS sensor they pointed out the tires were over five years old which means these were the original tires that came with the Jeep in 2021. After only owning this vehicle for two months, I now have to replace all four tires Because there is a safety issue with the age and the tread. There was also issues with the steering damper, which they did repair due to wobbling, however there is a slight wobble still because I have one brand new tire from the dealer and three tires that are not new. The dealer refuses to take ownership of the sale of unsafe tires.. dealer offered three month 3000 mile max care warranty and they still won’t address the tire issue.

I recently rented this vehicle from Budget. I had the vehicle for 3 weeks before I found out it had a recall on it. I took a look into it and the recall was out there since September of 2024. Not only that it was a major issue. The vehicle could’ve caught fire. This is very alarming to me because I had the vehicle for so long. I rented the vehicle in April of 2025. This vehicle should not have been available to rent. I tried to attach the conversation I had with the locations manager on the day I returned it stating that the vehicle was on the recall list but I reached out to him no one from Budget contacted me. I have supporting documents but I’m not able to attach them. I have my rental contract that states the date and also the email between the manager at the location. Odometer Fraud. The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. The contact stated that when the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair, the odometer reading was 16,000. The contact stated that after the vehicle had been repaired under the recall, the contact retrieved the vehicle and became aware of a mileage discrepancy and that the odometer had been rolled back to 12,000.

The video for my backup camera became intermittent, then stopped working. I brought it into the shop. They say the camera is not the problem and that it is either a connection under the dash or a radio problem. The next diagnosis step will take 3 hours and $675 just to take the dash apart. This is a safety issue, a defect in manufacture, and not related to wear and tear. In researching online, this is appears to be a complaint that a number of others have had.

2021-2024 jeeps with 3.6 penstar are being sold with camshafts that go bad at around 60-80k miles. There needs to be an immediate recall. I have mine at just under 70k and recently had to spend 3 grand to get it fixed with a new part all because the warranty is up and there’s no recall out for it. This is absolutely unacceptable.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding ongoing and unresolved safety and reliability issues with my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, purchased from Heritage Jeep in Logan, Utah. Since acquiring the vehicle, I have experienced repeated and severe electrical failures, including: The vehicle failing to start on numerous occasions Complete loss of electrical systems (dash, lights, ignition) Batteries failing to hold or receive charge Multiple warning indicators that do not resolve after service attempts These failures have rendered the vehicle inoperable for over 65 days total since the date of purchase. Despite multiple service visits and numerous documented attempts to address these problems, the dealership—Heritage Jeep in Logan—has not been able to resolve the underlying issue. I have retained all service records, work orders, and correspondence to support these claims. This issue not only causes significant inconvenience, but it raises serious safety concerns, especially when the vehicle becomes unresponsive or loses power without warning. I believe this may reflect a defect in the vehicle’s electrical or hybrid system and warrants investigation to protect other consumers. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) open a formal investigation into this vehicle and hold the manufacturer and dealership accountable for the ongoing safety risk and failure to adequately repair or replace the vehicle under warranty. I was also in regular contact with Jeep Corporate throughout the ongoing issues, but they stopped responding before a resolution was reached. I have retained all email correspondence documenting those interactions.

This is a 2021 Jeep with 23,000 miles on it. We inherited the Jeep after my father in law that passed away a few months ago. My wife was coming from Hampton Virginia going through the [XXX]. She hit a bump in the tunnel at 55 miles in hour and the steering wheel stated to shake. Se managed to slow down and the shaking slowed down to were she could get out of the tunnel. The vehicle was towed home. After reading some articles about this problem "Death Wobble" I contacted the local Jeep dealer on Military Highway in Norfolk Va. The service department told my wife it would be 250.00 to look at the problem and would return the 250.00 it its under warranty. I am writing to formally express my frustration and concern regarding an ongoing issue with my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. For several years, I have experienced severe shaking in my vehicle when driving at speeds between 50-70 mph after hitting a minor bump. The vibrations are so severe that it feels like the vehicle is going to shred itself in half. The issue has gotten worse over the years. Once this occurs, it requires rapid deceleration to 40 mph for the issue to subside. Most concerning is that on [XXX], this shaking occurred twice while driving in heavy traffic on [XXX] with my [XXX] son in the back seat. The severity of the issue poses an undeniable safety risk—not just to me and my passengers, but to others on the road as well. Given Jeep’s reputation for durability and off-road capability, it is deeply disappointing that such a serious issue is not being addressed with more urgency. After the event on [XXX], I initially addressed this issue with a Jeep service center at Dellen Chrysler Jeep and Dodge in Greenfield, IN. I was informed that the problem was related to the steering damper. However, despite recognizing the issue, my vehicle has yet to receive the necessary replacement due to a nationwide shortage of the part more than 2 months later. I implore someone from Dellen, Jeep, and/or NHTSB to do the right thing and properly warn owners about this serious safety issue. As a consumer and Jeep fan, it is unacceptable to me that: 1) A vehicle fails this catastrophically during normal driving, putting the public at risk. 2)Jeep doesn’t have sufficient inventory to fix the problems. 3)Jeep isn’t doing anything to make owners aware of this seriousness of the issue. Jeep is saying “service shifter” when we plug it into the diagnostic scanner it says can bus. We’ve replaced the can bus and a month later “service shifter “ light comes back on and again scanner is reading can bus. When this service shifter warning comes on the jeep loses power steering.

Transmission refuses to shift. Or will loose power and Have to pull off or just stop on the highway to shut vehicle off and restart to fix the problem. I was on i85 and had to pull off twice and the shoulder is a dangerous area to be on that highway. Also torque converter ticks and I’ve noticed a lot of the 2.0 4 cylinders having the same issues.

While driving my 2023 Jeep Wrangler on a road traveling at approx 15 to 20 mph the “Auto Park “ feature activated and the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the middle of the road. The D indicator was blinking and in order to proceed I had to place the shift in Park and then back in Drive. The car was flat bedded to the dealer who was unable to fix it. The dealer was unable to assure me this would not happen again. The dealer did disconnect the wiring to the door which gave my wife and I some comfort and peace of mind. One of two things could have caused this to happen;1 a malfunction in the module in the door or 2 a malfunction in the computer. I have a severely degenerated cervical spine; a rear end collision could cause me severe injury. It is absolutely necessary that this function be turned off in my vehicle. I have been patiently awaiting for Jeep Wave and my local dealer to fix this problem. In the meantime, my wife and I have had no window operation nor keyless entry nor mirror operation on the driver’s side. It was only by the Grace of God that no vehicle was following us that day.
