My car has shut off three different times while driving, completely losing power in the middle of the road. It then turned back on by itself and suddenly accelerated on its own. The check engine light is on, and the SOS system keeps activating and won’t turn off. What’s worse is that after taking it to the dealership, they’re now trying to return the car to me even though there’s an open safety recall that hasn’t been fixed. This is a major safety concern that needs immediate attention.

I am unable to use the car as intended. It poses a major safety risk to me, my family, our home, our neighbors, and my workplace where I must park it in a garage or next to many other vehicles every day.

[XXX] was renting a 2024 Jeep Wrangler E with VIN # [XXX] and was charging the vehicle with the factory Jeep adapter provided. While disconnecting, Ms. [XXX] was shocked at the connection point from the extension cord to the adapter. Ms. [XXX] was wearing shoes and the area was dry. The extension cord used had no defects. Upon investigation, the wall outlet was extremely hot to the touch and the cord was also hot. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has now been through three separate recalls for the same high-voltage battery fire risk, each time with the same “software flash” remedy instead of a permanent repair. Recall 24V-111 (04B, Feb 2024): Software update to the Battery Management System (BMS) to detect battery faults. Recall 24V-720 (95B, Sept 2024): Reissued for the same defect, again using only a software update. Recall 25V-741 (68C, Oct 2025): A third campaign for the same issue, described once more as a “software flash followed by replacement if needed,” though parts are still unavailable. Each campaign cites potential separator damage inside the battery cells, which can lead to thermal events and fires. Despite multiple “fixes,” Stellantis has never provided an actual hardware remedy or replacement plan. Owners continue to be told to park away from structures and avoid charging their vehicles. More than a year after the first battery recall, the manufacturer still cannot supply a permanent remedy, exceeding the “reasonable time” requirement under federal safety law. I am filing this complaint because repeated software-only updates have not corrected the defect and the vehicle remains at risk of fire. NHTSA oversight is needed to ensure Stellantis provides a true, lasting fix rather than another temporary software patch.

Component/System: High-Voltage Battery (Hybrid/Electric Propulsion System) I lease a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe that has been identified in Jeep’s recall for the high-voltage battery, which may have internal damage that could cause a short circuit and fire. Jeep instructed owners to park outdoors, away from structures or other vehicles, and avoid charging until a remedy is available. This creates a serious safety and storage problem. My homeowner association prohibits street or outdoor parking, so I have no safe or lawful place to store the vehicle. I have followed Jeep’s guidance and stopped using or charging it, leaving the vehicle unusable through no fault of my own. The recall was confirmed by Jeep’s recall department, and my VIN [XXX] ) is included. I have contacted both Jeep and Stellantis Financial Services, since the vehicle is leased, but no repair, parts, or permanent remedy have been provided. Jeep offered a rental, which is not an adequate substitute for my family’s needs. Safety Risk: There is potential fire risk if the vehicle is parked indoors or near other cars. This situation forces owners into noncompliance with community rules or unsafe parking conditions. Reproduction/Inspection: The issue is confirmed by the manufacturer recall; the vehicle has not been inspected or repaired because Jeep advised not to move or charge it. Warning Lamps: None prior to the recall. Date of Recall Notice: November 2025. I am requesting that NHTSA review this recall and Stellantis’s response for leased vehicles that cannot be safely operated or stored and for which no remedy or safe-use option exists. My leased 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is included in Recall #68C (NHTSA #25V741000) for a battery fire risk when parked. Jeep and NHTSA have both advised owners not to charge or park the vehicle near structures due to a potential fire hazard. This makes the vehicle unsafe and unusable under normal lease conditions. I contacted my leasing company, Chrysler Capital, to request assistance because the vehicle cannot be safely used or parked. Their representatives repeatedly refused to escalate or document my case and stated that they “can’t do anything,” including refusing to provide a supervisor’s ID or written confirmation. I feel unsafe keeping or driving the vehicle, and I believe I should not be charged lease fees or penalties while it is under this recall. I am requesting that this issue be investigated and that Jeep and Chrysler Capital provide appropriate lease termination or safety accommodations.

I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon with approximately 23,000 miles. I recently received notice of Recall 68C (high-voltage battery fire risk). Jeep’s instructions say not to charge the vehicle and to park it outdoors, away from structures, because of potential fire risk. The manufacturer has stated that no repair will be available until at least March 2026, leaving owners unable to safely use or charge their vehicles for months. This recall follows multiple previous recalls and investigations involving fire risk or electrical system failures on the Wrangler 4xe, including earlier campaigns related to the hybrid battery and software updates. The repeated safety issues raise concerns about the overall safety and reliability of this model. My vehicle is otherwise in excellent condition, but I can no longer use it as intended as a plug-in hybrid or safely park it in my garage. Jeep has not offered a timely fix, loaner vehicle, or buyback. I am reporting this because the ongoing risk of fire, coupled with repeated recalls and long repair delays, represents a serious safety hazard that deserves immediate NHTSA attention.

Was driving about 35 miles per hour on a two lane canyon road when the vehicle suddenly just shut down and completely lost all electrical and power steering. I was trying desperately to steer the vehicle to the side of the road as I quickly approached a father and his two daughters riding bikes and just missed them as I was screaming out the window for them to hurry forward. Was incredibly distressing and have never been so scared. The vehicle did get to the side of the road to a stop.

I was driving my 2023 wrangler 4xe to work one Saturday morning. No weather conditions, no change of habit in my drive, and normal driving conditions in general. Half way there I felt a weird change and slight jerk while on the highway. After I noticed a light come on. I was unable to stop so I continued and monitored my gauges. All seemed normal except it kicked into gas only mode I noticed. Once I made it to my first red light it braked funny/differently. Once the light was green I accelerated but it was delayed and felt clunky. It almost jolted a little in order to go. I was five minutes from work so I continued on slowly. Once I made it to work I had to turn left through a double lane. Once clear I accelerated to turn into my lot. The jeep stayed lit but completely lost power and actually stopped in the middle of oncoming traffic. Thankfully one car slowed but the other planned to keep going. I panicked hitting the gas a few times until it finally jolted me up into the parking lot. Once I parked it I turned it off to breath and calm down. My child could have been in there. Had I not moved someone could have hit me and blamed me for the accident. After I parked it and turned it off it would not turn back on and shift again. But once I got a tow truck there to take to the dealer he was able to to turn it on. So I’m unsure how that’s safe either.

Component/System: The high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack (specifically, faulty battery cells within the pack). There is currently no fix for this. There is a severe safety defect with the Jeep 4xE. This recall (Fire risk) puts my safety, as well as others' safety, at a very high risk. It has caused a threat to immediate danger due to the increased risk of death, serious injury, or significant property damage, just to name a few (with death being the biggest concern). This problem has been confirmed by Jeep/Stellantis on their website, advising owners to park the vehicle outdoors and away from structures and not to charge the vehicle until a remedy is available. Dealers don’t have a fix for this. The manufacturer's guidance (not charging, parking outside) renders the vehicle effectively unusable as designed. The safety recall is linked to internal cell damage in the high-voltage battery. My vehicle uses regenerative braking to recapture kinetic energy. Given that the manufacturer advises against charging and that the fire risk is higher with a full battery, I believe the operation of the regenerative braking system, which continually attempts to increase the battery's state of charge, should be considered a contributing factor that exacerbates the underlying defect during normal driving conditions. No warnings or messages, or other symptoms have yet been noted.

There are 2 open safety recalls on this vehicle. One for stopping which it already did and one for fire. My vehicle stopped and lost all power while going 35 mph. I am not safe in this vehicle and want my lease voided.

The steering wheel shakes a high speeds over 70 on highways . I’ve had it in and have had the steering wheel replaced . Another time the dealer thought it was the “death wobble” then said they didn’t find anything wrong but said it was a problem with the battery making the car heavy . This problem was not occurring previously and I drive this car every day. It does not feel right or normal . I’ve had it in over 3 times and they have not been able to find or duplicate an issue . There is a death wobble issue with Jeep but I cannot get the dealership to help with the problem .

I do not feel safe to operate my vehicle or have it parked at my residence. I have contacted the dealership and they told me to contact stellantis. There’s currently no fix for the fire issue. The original recall months ago I contacted my dealer and I was told my Vin was not on the list. I spoke with the stellantis and they told me that the recall just happened. They had a similar recall months ago. Somehow my Vin wasn’t listed, but now my Vin is listed for the same recall. They also have another open recall where the vehicle shut off completely while driving a friend of mine who has the same exact model color in year has already experienced this. What’s to say that a month from now my vehicle won’t also have that recall and I don’t have an accident on the highway while driving it. I would like the vehicle to either be taken back or to be switched out with a safe vehicle. I fear for my safety and my family Safety owning this vehicle. If I place the vehicle outdoors and follow all instructions, I’m devaluing the vehicle because it is Garage kept and not a daily driver. I also cannot use the feature of electric, which is why I purchased the vehicle, but I am still expected to pay for it and keep this vehicle with an open recall that has no resolution.

Hello, I am writing to escalate an urgent issue involving my vehicle recall and my scheduled shipment. I have paid over three thousand dollars to Montway as my broker, and at this point all involved parties have failed to provide a clear solution. I cannot move forward without immediate support. My Jeep is experiencing a recurring battery recall for the seventh time. This is a product defect that is outside of my control. My vehicle is scheduled to ship through Pasha in the coming days, and the recall must be resolved before drop off. Pasha has informed me that I cannot keep the vehicle at the port before the appointment window, and Montway has not provided any realistic guidance on where the vehicle can be safely held. I hired Montway to help coordinate this process. I paid for professional support. Being told to find a holding location myself while coordinating a safety recall is not acceptable. I need all parties to provide real solutions and support. I need the following: Written confirmation from Jeep that the recall service will be completed at no cost to me and that my VIN is being handled as a priority case. Written confirmation from Montway that my shipment schedule remains active and that I will not be charged additional fees caused by this recall. Clear guidance on the correct next steps for temporary holding or drop off timing so I can comply with Pasha requirements without further disruption. I am not responsible for additional fee that has been involved due to the recall alert from 2 days ago, just a few days before my vessel departs. I have now been informed that I may need to pay additional costs due to delays and complications caused by this recall. I need to make it very clear that I am not responsible for any extra fees related to this situation. This recurring defect is a Jeep product issue and has nothing to do with my actions or maintenance. I should not be financially penalized for a repeated safety failure that is fully docume

While driving the vehicle, complete loss of power was experienced due to the recall. I had to pull over to the side of the road and was luckily in a safe space. However, had I been driving on main roads, I could have gotten into an accident. While this recall has been temporarily fixed at this moment, a permanent fix has not been done. Also, since my lease in March 2024, the vehicle has been in the shop several times due to the inability of the vehicle to be filled with gas. My vehicle will be almost completely out of gas, and I can still only put 12 gallons of gas in the car. My dealership had the car in their shop for over three weeks total (on 2-3 occasions), and no resolution was made. I’m still having issues filling up my car on the regular. And now, with the most recent recall, I will be filling my car up a lot more. This vehicle is a mess and they need to rectify the situation and issues immediately. With the winter months approaching and the possibility for snow, I am now at the disadvantage of having to park my car away from my house, not use the electric functionality and leaving it unprotected from the elements. This is unacceptable. I traded in my 2019 6 cyl gas powered Wrangler for the sole purpose of having the electric functionality, and now I’m stuck paying a MUCH higher car payment for a vehicle I am unable to drive in electric format. AND let’s not forget that it’s a safety hazard. I do not feel comfortable driving this vehicle and putting my family in it.

The battery died multiple times and has been replaced costing multiple days without transportation. Battery caused additional part repair and has been recently repaired. This is the 5th time going into shop for recall/issues on my vehicle with only 10k miles on it. Now with the safety recall with no solution I do not feel confident that this vehicle is safe and reliable for my family and daily life.

My 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN [XXX] ) is included in NHTSA Recall 25V-741 (FCA 68C) for a high-voltage battery defect that can cause a fire while parked. Jeep instructed owners not to recharge the vehicle and to park outside, away from structures, because the defect may lead to thermal events even when the vehicle is off. As of today, the manufacturer states the remedy is “not yet available.” This means the vehicle cannot be charged, stored in a garage, or used normally. I am a lessee still making payments on a vehicle that cannot be safely used. The lack of a remedy puts property and personal safety at risk. I am requesting NHTSA oversight to ensure FCA/Stellantis provides immediate relief such as a loaner vehicle or repurchase for owners and lessees affected by this recall. The vehicle has multiple critical, uncorrected safety defects: Loss of Motive Power (RQ24012), Engine Contamination (CSN 78C), and Battery Fire Risk (Recall 68C). Incident Details (R/O [XXX], [XXX]): My 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe experienced a sudden and complete Loss of Motive Power while operating. The customer concern noted on the Repair Order states the vehicle "seems to loose power while driving above 30MPH... and feel like it was going to turn off." This failure rendered the vehicle inoperable and created an extreme safety hazard on a major roadway [XXX] ), forcing me to coast to safety. Component Failure and Safety Risk: The failed components are the Engine (2.0L Turbo), Hybrid Propulsion System, and Electric Coolant Heater (ECH). The dealer's repair (R/O [XXX]) confirmed system instability by replacing the ECH. This loss of power is directly linked to the manufacturer's known defect (CSN 78C), where sand contamination in the engine can cause catastrophic failure and unrecoverable loss of propulsion. This mechanical defect is the root cause of the safety risk and is currently under NHTSA investigation (RQ24012). Additionally, the vehicle is subject to Recall 68C (Battery Fire Risk), preventing safe use of the PHEV system and forcing me to park away from structures. The combination of these uncorrected defects puts both my safety and the safety of others at risk. Warning Lamps: A 'Service Hybrid System' light or similar warning message appeared at the time of the incident. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer (Price Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram) and is documented in Repair Order [XXX]. The component is available for inspection upon request.
