At speeds 35+ MPH the steering has a “sticky” “notch” feeling making steering at high speed very difficult to do smoothly, especially when cornering. This has led to close-calls nearly resulting in accidents, but fortunately being avoided. I suspect it has to do with the steering rack issue that is a common complaint with this MY.

The vehicle experiences an intermittent engine and/or electrical system failure causing the car to losing acceleration while driving. The exact component has not been identified because the failure is intermittent. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The problem has not been duplicated by the dealership, and they have declined to repair the vehicle on that basis. However, the issue continues to occur intermittently despite being reported. The vehicle has been presented to an authorized Honda dealership for inspection. The manufacturer has not identified the cause due to the intermittent nature of the failure. No inspection has been performed by police or insurance representatives. There are no consistent warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. The vehicle looses acceleration suddenly and without warning. The problem first started about a month ago and most recently happened today when our car was almost rear ended due to the car loosing acceleration drastically on its own.

On Sunday, December 14, 2025, I was driving a 2022 Honda Civic Sport with my wife in the passenger seat when the vehicle’s driver-assist/steering system unexpectedly intervened and caused the vehicle to veer off the roadway and down a steep embankment (approximately 40–50 feet) without driver input. I attempted to correct the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to respond as expected. There was no intentional steering command to leave the roadway. The vehicle appeared to steer itself, resulting in a crash. Both occupants sustained injuries. I suffered a neck/collarbone injury and a concussion. My wife suffered a concussion, a large laceration to her outer right calf, and bruising. Medical treatment was required and was sought at urgent care. After the incident, warning indicators were present on the dashboard. I later became aware that this model year has known complaints and recalls related to steering, lane-assist, or driver-assist system malfunctions. These issues were not disclosed at the time the vehicle was purchased used from a dealership. This appears to be a serious safety defect that poses a risk of injury or death to drivers and passengers. The vehicle is currently unsafe to operate.

I have taken my car to Honda Bob Boyte in Brandon, three times for the same reason, all the lights are coming on and I have a video as well. But the services department states unable to find the reason. That's dangerous in opinion to be driving and it's telling I have a type. of brake. malfunction. My service advisor is great, I just need my car fixed.

2026 Honda civic hatchback hybrid sport touring There is a water leak in the hatch. After opening the hatch and waiting a couple seconds, water leaks from the inside of the hatch into the inside of the car. I did see a service bulletin for a previous year of the car [XXX] for my car year. However the issue seems present. It hasn’t been inspected by the dealer yet. I contacted them over a week ago but they’ve been telling me that they haven’t heard back from their third party water leak tester yet to check availability and so I’m still waiting. While driving on the highway, I attempted to accelerate to safely merge into an adjacent lane when the accelerator pedal became stuck in the fully depressed position. The vehicle continued accelerating and the pedal would not release. I applied the brakes and exited the highway at the nearest exit, brought the vehicle to a complete stop, placed it in park, and turned the engine off. After restarting the vehicle, the accelerator pedal remained stuck. I had to manually pry the pedal up from the floor. There were no loose objects or aftermarket floor mats present—only properly installed Honda factory floor mats. This appeared to be a mechanical failure and presented a serious safety risk.

I was driving on a very busy road and the car completely died and would not go into park. It was like the battery was not even there. The steering wheel locked up, hazards would not come on and all the doors locked and would not unlock. There was no power to the car whatsoever. The drivers side door had to be pried open from the outside so I could get out of the car. We had the battery tested and is tested completely fine. The car has done this three times now.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the steering wheel felt sticky while driving and making turns. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V744000(Steering) was performed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the recall repair was performed for a second time; however, the failure had worsened. The dealer was notified and recommended the steering rack replacement based on past experiences. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to cover the steering rack replacement because it was not covered by the recall. The contact stated that the recall remedy had failed to correct the steering failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

- #11704419December 11, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Vehicle experienced sudden and complete loss of engine power while driving in active NYC traffic. Without any warning lights or prior symptoms, the engine shut off mid-motion, the accelerator became unresponsive, and the car stopped moving in the middle of a busy roadway. I lost all propulsion and had to activate hazard lights while stuck in live traffic. This created a severe safety hazard for me and surrounding vehicles. The vehicle could not be safely moved, and no police or roadside support was able to reach me for over an hour. This incident placed me at high risk of being struck by oncoming traffic. This is the second major failure with this vehicle. On Day 2 of my lease, the car experienced multiple system malfunctions related to an open recall, causing the vehicle to fail on the highway. That recall repair did not prevent this new failure. After this most recent incident, AAA diagnostics showed the vehicle was not drivable, and the dealership later informed me that the failure involves a deeper fuel system/high-pressure pump issue. They stated there is no guarantee the vehicle will operate normally even after repair, yet on 12/10/25 they attempted to return the car to me and told me to continue driving it despite knowing the defect is safety-related. As of today, I have been without a safe vehicle for over 10 days, and neither the dealership nor Honda Corporate has provided a loaner or safe transportation. My initial safety case with Honda was also prematurely closed without my knowledge, and multiple attempts to escalate to a supervisor were unsuccessful or delayed. A vehicle that stalls without warning at speed is an extreme safety hazard, and this defect remains unresolved. I am reporting this because the vehicle has failed twice under dangerous conditions, and the manufacturer has not ensured that the vehicle is safe to operate.

- #11704327December 10, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
My Honda will randomly beep and slam the brakes but there is nothing in front of me, it has done this multiple times and getting to the point I’m scared it will cause an accident. When it happened the first time I thought maybe it was because it was slightly raining, but it will do it regardless of the weather conditions. It has happened probably 5+ times, and it’s starting to become more frequent.

I drive on the highway everyday to get to work and my steering makes it impossible to drive in a straight line it takes every bit of effort to remain in my lane and when I make a slight adjustment it reacts too much. It is unpredictable and it becomes obvious to drivers around me and makes me look like a bad/crazy driver. It becomes so overwhelming to drive to and from work that I don't want my car anymore. Please investigate this. It is a big safety issue for me and the people on the road. I pray something is done about this problem that me and so many other civic owners are experiencing.

I have reported this to American Honda - My driver car lock has been not working properly since 2024. It will intermittently not work to unlock the driver's door. Also, it will intermittently not lock my car automatically when I leave the vehicle with the key fob. The first time I took the vehicle in - they replaced the front door power latch. Since then, I took it in on May 2025 - they said since the car does it intermittently, they cannot fix it. Well, I just took the car back today, 12/09/25 - and I am leaving it there until they can find out what is the problem. In a emergency, if I needed to open my driver's door, to avoid a dangerous situation, and could not, I would be harmed. I have taken videos, and showed the dealer to help identify the issue. American Honda said to take it back to the dealer and have them fix it. I would like my vehicle fixed or bought back from me.

On November 5, 2025 a few dash errors came on, they were: 1. Brake hold system problem 2. Vehicle stability assist problem 3. Emission system problem 4. Road departure mitigation system problem 5. Collision mitigation system problem 6. Lane keeping assist system problem 7. Adaptive cruise system problem 8. Hill start assist system problem 9. Tire pressure monitor system problem I called the dealership on 11/5/25 and made a service appointment for 11/6/25. The dealership looked over the car and stated that the code the car was throwing was "Low Fuel Pressure". The dealership stated that they do not know why the code was present as the car showed signs of issues, they cleared the code and released the car back to me on 11/6/25. On 11/24/25 while driving on a major highway the car stalled about 8-10 times. I contacted the dealership and went right into the dealer on 11/24/25. The dealership kept my car and issued a loaner vehicle to me. On 11/25/25 I received a call from the dealership stating that the high pressure fuel pump would need to be replaced. The fuel pump was replaced on 11/26/25 and the service manager called me stating that they would keep the car to test drive and monitor it for further issues. On 11/28/25 I received a call from the service advisor stating that upon further checking the car they have located a transmission leak and found large chunks of metal in the transmission. The service advisor stated they would reach out to Honda and get the recommendations on fixing the problem. On 12/1/25 the service advisor reached out to me and stated that Honda recommended they clean the leak and release the car back to me. The service advisor stated that they were not happy with this outcome and then reached out to their district representative, the district representative recommended that they clean the leak, test drive the car for about 20-30 miles and send photos of the chunks of metal in the transmission. I am now waiting to hear back.

IN NOVEMBER 2025 A BURNING SMELL WAS NOTICED WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CLUTCH FAILURE. THE BURNING SMELL RETURNED WHEN THE DEALER WAS ASSESSING THE VEHICLETHE CAR IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED BUT I HAVE ASKED FOR THE PARTS TO BE KEPT FOR ME POST REPAIR. THE ISSUE PUTS OTHERS AT RISK DUE TO UNPREDICTABILITY IN SHIFTING ABILITY, POSSIBLE SMOKE/FLAMES DUE TO WEAR AND INABILITY TO PUT CAR INTO GEAR. A DEALER HAS IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS CLUTCH FAILURE. NO ONE HAS INSPECTED THE PARTS OTHER THAN THE DEALER. THERE WERE NO WARNING LAMPS, MESSAGES, ETC UNTIL THE BURNING SMELL. THE DEALER HAS ATTRIBUTED THE CLUTCH FAILURE TO WEAR AND TEAR, HOWEVER THE CAR IS DRIVEN BY AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER AND HAS ONLY 44K MILES ON THE VEHICLE. A PREVIOUS SAFETY BULLETIN (HONDA TSB 22-017) WAS ISSUED THE SAME PROBLEM FOR VEHICLE YEARS 2020 AND 2021 BUT DID NOT INCLUDE 2022. THE MANUFACTURER HAS REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE WHETHER THIS COULD BE AN EXTENSION OF THAT SAFETY BULLETIN. AN ONLINE SEARCH INDICATED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED IN A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. T

The contact owns a 2024 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH on a rainy day and pulling into driveway at the residence, the steering wheel became very loose and then very firm. The contact stated that the LKAS feature activated and independently steered the vehicle over to the right. The contact attempted to turn the steering wheel to the left, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle made an abnormal sound before sliding like it was on ice and crashed into two other vehicles parked in the driveway which did minor damages to both vehicles. The contact lost consciousness from the impact with the first vehicle for approximately one second. The contact stated that after crashing into the second vehicle, the vehicle temporarily returned to normal operation and the brake pedal was depressed; however, the steering wheel was still firm and unresponsive. The contact stated that no air bags deployed during the crash. The contact then called 911 for assistance. No medical attention was required because the contact had not suffered any injuries. The contact stated that a Police Report was filed. The local dealer was contacted and provided the contact a number to call however, the number was inoperable. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V744000 (STEERING); for which the VIN was included. The contact stated that the local dealer was contacted several times over several months but was unable to provide the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the vehicle was towed a collision center. There was no information if the vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Since purchasing my vehicle in 2022, I’ve experienced my seat “click and unclick” after adjusting it as well as at random times when driving. As I’ve been reviewing recalls for my own year/make/model, I recently found that 2023-24 Hondas & Acuras were experiencing a similar issue and have had a recall for their seat frame bolt. However, I’m unsure if it’s due to the same reason, as I’ve not seen other related complaints for my own year/make/model.

After intermittently experiencing sticking of my steering wheel and creaking/grinding when turning the wheel, in April 2024 my vehicle’s rack & pinion recall was closed at Northside Honda (28,676 miles). In May 2024, I was provided a free oil change at the same dealership. I wasn’t informed of any failed recommendations or provided a copy of the multipoint inspection (29,328 miles). The sticky steering continued to be intermittent and I was unable to replicate it, specifically as cooler weather began. In February 2025, my vehicle’s steering gearbox recall was closed and corrective action was performed at Hill Country Honda due to my sticky steering noticeably occurring at highway speeds, making it difficult to return to center, specifically during a drive home from work that required significant effort to stay in my lane (38,957 miles). In October 2025, I scheduled another inspection, as the sticky steering had noticeably returned once more at highway speeds. It was then diagnosed by Hill Country Honda’s technician to be an internal failure of the gearbox with a recommendation of electric steering gearbox replacement (51,073 miles). After numerous attempts to inform Honda Corporate of my recent finding (fail recommendation “incorrectly assembled steering rack”) which Northside Honda never mentioned to me in 2024, neither Honda Corporate nor the dealership will take accountability. I’ve also noted that no comments were listed in the rack and pinion recall to indicate a concern/complaint, despite my description stated above. The dealership is continuing to state my car was not included in the recall though listed on my oil change visit after the recall was closed and they won’t cover 100% replacement regardless of this being incomplete warranty work from 2024. A new investigation NEEDS to be opened on this steering recall. Honda Corporate’s corrective action has not helped numerous people from what I’ve researched even with the replacement of a steering rack.
