I have had this car a little over a year ago. I put 30k miles on it. for the last couple of months I noticed a steering issue where the steering wheel doesn't want to move (feels sticky or stuck) when you make a minor adjustment. you must over-steer or nudge it to move from the 12 O'clock position. In fact sometimes the steering wheel gets stuck while driving on a curve that I don't even need to steer/hold it at all (the car follows the curve because the steering wheel is stuck at an angle). this issue occurs at random speeds. I have experienced it at 2 miles speed, at 30 miles, and as fast as at 60+ miles. My tires have been checked and they are in great shape. I have had all typical maintenance done on it. when the vehicle is near stop sometimes you can hear a clicking noise when you make MINOR adjustments to the steering wheel. I took my car to the dealership and the mechanic confirmed the steering issue by test driving it. they informed me that they need to speak with technicians from Honda itself. Later that day they told me it's a known issue and they will replace my steering gearbox (ESP something) at no cost to me but they also didn't have the parts so I must wait ("on national back order").

When driving on the freeway the steering wheel gets stuck when making small corrections while driving straight in the lane. To get the steering wheel unstuck must over correct in the direction you want to car to go and it finally releases, then you must recenter the car quickly.

Sticky steering wheel at 40mph up , car only has 20,000 miles. Streering was smooth until it started to get stuck (sticky) making it hard to control on high speeds.

The steering on this civic is sticky. It feels like the electronic steering either temporarily cuts out or the lane departure assist is on whenever I steer at almost any speed. I need to overcome resistance from the steering wheel in order to make minor or major adjustments to the steering

The steering wheel sticks and causes overcorrection due to excessive force needed to steer vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by the dealership and repaired, but the after about 20,000 miles the problem is happening again. It is at its worst in a curve when trying to stay in the proper lane of travel.

After turning on to a 4 lane highway, my car lost power and would not run over 40 miles per hour. This put me into a very dangerous situation as you can imagine. I will be finding someone to look at it tomorrow, however, this exact issue is described in the recall CVT transmission recall but ironically, this car does not appear to be included in the recall. There were absolutely no warning lights when this happened.

The contact's daughter owns a 2014 Honda Civic. The contact stated while her daughter was driving 25 MPH, she heard an abnormally loud sound coming from underneath the vehicle, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact's daughter was able to roll to the side of the road. The vehicle was then pushed to the driveway of the residence. The contact stated that she then noticed fluid, broken parts, and bolts on the ground, at the site of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to be restarted but failed to respond upon shifting into drive(D). The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V574000 (Power Train) because the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

While driving on the highway at highway speeds the steering wheel seems to stick when trying to make minor adjustments. You then have to apply more force to unstick the steering wheel and then that causes the vehicle to jerk due to having to apply more force to move the steering wheel.

This vehicle has sticky steering and very scary to drive on the highway. We have taken it to the dealership and it has been there for over four months with no eta on the parts needed to fix our car. We are not getting any assistance from the dealership in getting this resolved. I know we are not the only ones as there are several complaints regarding the same issue all over the internet with the honda civic dating back to 2016 but no one is being informed when purchasing a vehicle and steering is a big safety issue. Seems like Honda is purposely putting people at risk, and doing nothing to resolve the issue.

The steering feels very stiff. When going to up to highway speed, it feels as if it's slightly drifting either left or right in the lane I'm in. It's not centering and I have to make minor adjustments to keep it in the lane. It creates a very rugged driving experience as well as a dangerous situation. No warning signs or any of the sort appeared on the screen. The vehicle was no inspected by the dealership yet. I plan on taking it there in a few weeks.

- #11546379September 25, 2023VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CRUISE CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES, AIR BAGS
The contact owns a 2023 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 MPH, the cruise control suddenly would not deactivate causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a ditch. The contact indicated that prior to the crash the cruise control did not deactivate when pressing the brake pedal and did not shut off while manually pressing the cruise control deactivation switch. Also, during the crash no airbags deployed and no injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failures was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failures. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 6,300.

- #11546199September 23, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I owned 2 of these 2022 civics equipped with Honda's Collision mitigation braking technology. This is the year they removed the forward radar and relied only on a single camera unit. I was involved in a rear end collision where I was the rear ender even with the distance setting on the furthest setting. The accident was on the highway at about 40MPH. A vehicle Merging on to the highway stopped in front of me in my lane. I was using adaptive cruise control. I can tell you the responsive of this system had me worried from in several other situations I was in. Not only did the adaptive cruise fail detect and slow the vehicle based on the vehicle in front of me, the safety system did not make any attempt to slow the vehicle and no detection was made by the system until about .2 seconds (or about 6') prior to the actual impact. I investigated the safety systems logs with a Honda mechanic by connecting a device to the OBD2 port and downloading the logs to a computer to verify indeed it failed to properly detect any obstacle until it was far to late. This seems to be a concern other Honda drivers have expressed as well with this revision of their Collision mitigation braking system. I believe they market as if this and the adaptive cruise system are features you can rely on to keep you safe and while I understand it can not account for every situation this was a perfectly clear day in Arizona at about 5:30pm in moderate day light. I believe this system is dangerous and has serious flaws that do not properly detect vehicles in front of you in many situations is extremely slow to react in almost every situation. I attempted to upload these logs but you do not accept the file format they were exported in. If I can send these another way please let me know.

I just bought a car 2 months ago. The steering wheel has serious safety issues. It will get stuck. The steering wheel makes noise and the steering wheel will get stuck while driving. The steering wheel got stuck three times after I bought the car for two months. I almost got into an accident. Please take the investigation seriously, it is absolutely a steering wheel problem. Thank you very much. I hope the car will be recalled for repairs.
