Power steering system fails intermittently. Power steering goes and comes back on without warning, causing the driver to oversteer the vehicle. Mechanic performed software update, which did not fix the problem and told me the power steering module needs to be replaced, which would be over $1,000 for the part, plus labor and re-alignment. Additionally, the replacement power steering module is not currently available - it is on backorder.

It's a problem that occurs when my Acadia fails to recognize that the gear shifter is in the park position. As a result, the car doesn't fully shut down, leaving the engine running. Unable to shut down vehicle if shift doesn't fully activate brake notice, and could be a safety issue if it truly doesn't park. I have not taken the vehicle to a dealer or services to have the problem reproduced yet. It also has not been inspected yet, however, after doing research online, GMC did put a recall notifying owners that this may be a problem in vehicles from years 2017-2021. When I place the shifter into park, the car does not recognize it, and alerts me to put it into parking. It started appearing 2 months ago.

My Acadia has had a stuttering problem and we have taken it to the dealership many times. They finally changed the torque converter but that didn’t fix it. Now today (4/15/25) I got home and I was getting a steering assist reduced error code and then when I turned my car off the fan went as high as it could and wouldn’t turn off. Finally after a bit of time it turned off. I got my car 4/28/22

I have a 2019 GMCAcadia Denali with less than 60000 miles. The problem I have with the vehicle is I get a error that say "Park to Shift. I don' know if it is in park or not. I am afraid that it isn't in park and will create a safety issue and injuries. It is my understanding that the same problem with the 2020+ GMC Acadia and is listed in a RECALL. Why isn't 2019 not included in this recall?

My car will not recognize when it is in park. The shifter will say park but the panel says on and all accessories are staying on. It started out doing it every once in a while but now it does it nearly every day. At work I have had to just leave it like that in the parking lot to keep from being late for work and the accessories stay on. Once I had to call for a jump start after work because my battery was dead. I’m not sure if it can be stolen or not when I have to leave it like that but I don’t think it could possibly be safe. And I can’t afford to call for jump starts all the time. Thank you and please help.

- #11654074April 11, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
I have had my 2025 GMC Acadia Denali for 1 week with 336 miles on it. When I went to start it on the evening of [XXX], I felt the brake pulse. Then the dash lite up with message to Service ESC. The brake icon was lite up red and ABS was lite up yellow color. I took my vehicle to our local Jeff Fender GMC dealership the next morning. The service tech did a brake pressure test which passed. He cleared the codes. When I went out to leave the dealership, the codes came back on. The service tech said it is NOT safe to drive because my brakes can fail at anytime. Service said they need to replace the master cylinder. With this issue, my brakes could fail & a horrible crash could occur causing injuries and/or death. Service rep told me this has happened to a new Yukon too. My husband called the dealership in Lake City, FL, where we purchased the Acadia from & spoke to a service rep. He told my husband he has seen this in Yukons, Terrains & Sierra pick up trucks. This brake issue with the master cylinder should be a recall due to the potential dangers of a horrible accident that can occur if the brakes fail. My vehicle has a persistent shift to park issue. My vehicle cannot be safely turned off. My vehicle needs to be restarted multiple times and the gearshift moved to the park position for the chance that it will register being in the parked position so the vehicle can be safely turned off.

- #11653037April 6, 2025Other/I am not sure, CHILD SEAT:HANDLE (INFANT)
This issues is regarding the front of the canopy. The base of the canopy clip, where it attaches to the car seat nearest the handle, has broken off pieces. These pieces have flow into the car seat where my child sits. It I had not noticed this happening, my child could have tried to put that piece in their mouth and choked or because for the sharp edges on the splintered piece, cause more serious damage. This breakage is on both end of the canopy clip. In addition, the piece that the clip is supposed to attach to has become warped from repeated use.

- #11652547April 3, 2025ENGINE
A warning popped up on my dashboard stating "Power steering reduced. Drive with care." multiple times. Whenever the warning popped up, my air conditioning would stop working and my engine fan would run very loud. The warning would go off and back on over the course of a year. This started in the beginning of summer, 2024. On 4/3/25 I took it into an auto mechanic shop and after they looked at this warning, they confirmed that the thermostat has an issue where it gets stuck in the "open" position, therefore the thermostat isn't working properly and my car thinks it's over heating, when it's really not. If my car were to overheat while this thermostat wasn't working properly, my engine could overheat or worse. The thermostat part is being replaced today so after today, it won't be available for inspection upon request.
