Some 2021-2023 F-150 non-Lightning vehicles may exhibit reduced power and/or lack of acceleration above 4000 revolutions per minute (RPM) and/or not being able to shift above 4000 RPM. This may be due to the missing retainers (service part number W714040-S300) from the air cleaner intake. Prior to performing other diagnostics, inspect the air cleaner intake to determine if the retainers are present and fully seated. If the retainers are not present, install as necessary. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-12C Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 3.5L EcoBoost (BM), Removal and Installation, Air Cleaner, Removal, Step 4. If the retainers are present, or the missing retainers were replaced and the symptom is still present, refer to the WSM for additional diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part 9C675 and applicable labor operations in Section 06 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost engine may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P084B stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the software level of the PCM. To correct this condition, perform the Service Procedure below to reprogram the PCM to the latest software level via the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS).

Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a no crank/no start with a battery draw and air conditioning (A/C) clutch engaged at all times. This may be due to an opened diode in the A/C clutch field coil damaging the output driver (field effect transistor YFET) in the body control module C (BCMC). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the BCMC and A/C clutch field coil assembly.

This may be due to the software level of the SYNC module (APIM). To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the APIM via a coordinated flash along with image processing module A (IPMA) and instrument panel cluster (IPC) to the latest software level.

This may be due to the software level of the BCM and powertrain control module (PCM). To confirm a vehicle is built with a certain minor feature code, review the build information by double-clicking the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the upper left corner in the Professional Technician System (PTS). To correct this condition, perform the Service Procedure below to reprogram the BCM and PCM to the latest software level via the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS).

Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles may exhibit DTC U023A:08 after reprogramming the SCCM. Do not replace or reprogram the SCCM, image processing module A (IPMA) or their components for this condition at this time. This DTC does not alert the customer, will not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that will reprogram the IPMA and is expected in late December 2023. Monitor OASIS for additional information.

Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with one-touch up/down front windows may exhibit a window not responding to one-touch controls, does not open all the way and/or bounces back when using the one-touch close function. These may be due to a calibration parameter in the driver door module (DDM) and/or passenger door module (PDM). To correct the condition, reprogram the DDM and PDM using the latest level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool then perform the Power Door Window Initialization procedure for both the DDM and the PDM. For claiming, use causal part number 14B291 and applicable labor times from Section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standard (SLTS) Manual.

Summary
Some 2021-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 4 may exhibit the navigation feature in the center display screen only displaying imperial (feet and miles) units and not being able to change to metric (meters and kilometers) units. This may be due to the software level of the SYNC module (APIM). To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the APIM to the latest software level via a coordinated flash. NOTE: The APIM software update that addresses the symptom listed in this article may have been sent via Ford Power-Up software updates delivered over-the-air (OTA) to connected vehicles that have automatic updates enabled through the center display screen. Enter the vehicle identification number (VIN) in Professional Technician System (PTS) and check the OTA Dashboard under the Connected Vehicle tab for OTA update history. If an update to the APIM has successfully completed recently and the customer is reporting the symptoms are no longer present, this article may not apply.
