I have had this car in three times for electrical issues related to the Hybred battery. This car had a recall for the battery and I took it in on [XXX] for the recall. The fix for this recall was not to fix the battery but rather to limit the amount the battery can be charged to 80-85%%. Prior to [XXX] the hybred battery would charge upto 27 miles or 11.4 to 11.6 kwh. After the recall fix, again which was just a software update to limit the charge, it is now at 20-21 miles or 9.8 to 10.0 kwh charge. This has reduced the miles of driving on battery only to a 15% plus decrease. I bought this car for the hybred performance and would not have bought for only 20 miles of battery life. I have contacted the dealership that performed the recall update and they confirmed the software update was to reduce charge capacity. The dealership stated that the recalls performed were 25SC4 and 23B64. I called Lincoln and spoke with their Client Relations Dept. (800-521-4140) and they stated they would share my concerns but there was nothing more they could do. The person I spoke with gave me case # [XXX] and phone number 888-214-2155 extension. 76341. I feel Lincoln deceived me and most likely many others, by not fixing the problem but rather limit how much the battery could be charged. The car is not fixed and they are no willing to try and fix it to the standards that I bought the vehicle for. Thank you. I was advised by Lincoln that a potential plug in hybrid battery flaw could result in damage to the vehicle and its occupants. This flaw has been the subject of two Lincoln recalls /customer satisfaction notices. (25SC4 and 26N15). The first of these addressed the potential issue through software turning off 20% of the battery cells, and a resultant significant loss of miles the car can go on battery. Lincoln refuses to do the second unless the problem arises suddenly, putting me and my family at risk for a sudden catastrophic incident. This exposure plus the loss of battery miles from what was originally advertised (29) is an egregious action by Lincoln that should be addressed by your agency. I am specially asking Lincoln to implement 26N15 asap to both restore the missing miles and eliminate the danger of a sudden battery gas release.

Recall 25SC4 software update would reduce the EV only range by as much as 20% below the Wikndow Sticker 27 miles. This action does not correct the problem which caused the recall. The root cause is a manufacturing flaw in the Samsung SDI battery cells where the thin separator layer between the cathode and anode was damaged. An internal short circuit can happen spontaneously due to this physical imperfection regardless of whether the battery is fully charged, partially charged, or actively discharging while driving. The recall does not correct the problem.

In Lincoln's own words the lithium batteries are flawed and can cause a short circuit which can lead to a fire. This could lead to grave danger to life. I keep my car in my garage which could lead to a house fire and harm to my family. Their original temporary fix was to set the charging system to stop at 80%. After doing this when I receive the original recall, it was undone at least twice by software updates they pushed to the vehicle. Once by one of their own technician. Now their so call fix is to permanently, maybe, push software that limits the charge to 80%. In my opinion this is a bandaid, not a fix. If the batteries are flawed, they need to be replaced them, period! I purchased and paid for the vehicle with 100% charging capability and a full EV range. I now own one with only a 80% charge capability and using their words, a minimum of 12% reduction the EV range. To me this is ridiculous and Lincoln should either replace the flawed batteries or offer compensation. In the end, with this "remedy" I still own a vehicle that I'm nervous to leave in my garage. Please reject this remedy and hold Lincoln accountable.
