When towing a trailer, the integrated trailer module (ITRM) may lose communication with the vehicle, possibly causing a loss of brake and turn signal lights, or a loss of brake function. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023-2024 F-250, F-350, and F-450 vehicles. Water may enter the Tailgate Park Assist Sensor Interface Module (TPASIM) and cause the rearview camera image to display intermittently or appear blue or black.
I purchased a 2024 F-450 Limited from Phil Long Ford of [XXX] [XXX] located in [XXX] on XXX. After noticing that I was the third (sometimes the fourth listed owner) I decided to do some further investigation on the truck's history. I've come to find out that the truck was imported from [XXX], which was never disclosed to me at the time of purchase. The vehicle’s electronic systems and safety components have repeatedly malfunctioned, including the Hill Start Assist system, Hill Descent Control system, Blind Spot Detection system, diesel exhaust fluid system, and powertrain control system. These failures are documented through FordPass alerts dated May–August 2023 (it was sold to me as "new" and built at Ford's [XXX] plant in September of 2024) and Ford Oasis records, which is impossible for a 2024 model year truck and indicates prior use, module tampering, or VIN corruption. All components remain available for inspection. These failures placed my safety at risk by disabling braking‑assist systems, stability‑control systems, and exhaust‑emissions controls while driving. The AC hasn't worked on the truck in months. The problems have been reproduced and confirmed through FordPass, Ford Oasis, and diagnostic data showing module faults, mileage inconsistencies, and ECU irregularities. The vehicle has been inspected by multiple Phil Long Ford locations throughout [XXX], FordPass connected‑vehicle diagnostics, and Ford Oasis, all of which show repeated system faults and warnings. Warning lamps and messages first appeared in May 2023 according to FordPass, long before the vehicle was sold, or even built for that matter, and continued through 2024–2026. Based on the evidence, the cause appears to be prior foreign‑market use, improper importation, undisclosed repairs, and electronic module tampering. If any portion of this cannot be conclusively verified, the cause is UNKNOWN and based on the best available documentation. The contact owned a 2024 Ford F-450 SD. The contact stated that while his fiancée was driving with cruise control set to 57 MPH, there was an abnormally strong smoky odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The driver pulled over to the side of the road and there were flames coming from the engine bay. The driver called 9-1-1. The driver attempted to extinguish the fire with assistance using three fire extinguishers but failed to extinguish the fire. The vehicle became fully engulfed in flames before the Fire Department arrived on the scene. The fire department extinguished the fire; however, the entire vehicle burned, leaving only a fraction of the tailgate intact. Neither a Fire Department nor a Police report was filed. The contact's dog sustained a burn injury; however, the driver was not injured. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and was pending the decision of the insurance company. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided, and the contact was referred to the insurance company for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 9,707.

n October 28th, I left Atlanta, Georgia with a load going to Pittsburgh–Philadelphia. On October 29th, 2025, around 12:30 a.m., I was approximately two miles north of Birch River, West Virginia. While driving uphill at a steady speed of about 60–65 mph, I suddenly heard a loud popping sound, as if something had exploded or blown inside the engine. Right after that, the truck immediately lost power, and I pulled over to the shoulder as quickly as I could. As I was stopping, I saw flames coming through the hood directly in front of me, mostly from the driver’s side. I grabbed the fire extinguisher from inside my cab and opened the hood. On the driver’s side of the engine, I saw heavy flames coming out under high pressure. I emptied the entire extinguisher, but the fire did not stop. Then I ran to get my second extinguisher from the trailer and used it completely as well, but the flames kept burning. I noticed that strong flames were also coming from underneath the front driver’s side wheel area.
This is the third time I have had this issue. I will be driving my truck and will out of nowhere get a warning on the dash that says: “Pre-Collision Assist not available” then after that happens I will not be able to set the cruise control. This can only be fixed by a trip to the dealer ship and usual takes 10-15 days to get fixed. It will work as normal for a few thousand miles than come back. It also happened approximately January 2nd with approximately 2000 and March 15th with 4000 miles.
