The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the front end of the vehicle was shuddering intermittently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was jerking forward intermittently while coming to a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic discovered that the transmission needed to be replaced due to a burnt clutch, a damaged valve body, and damaged to the torque converter. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.

Sliding automatic door makes loud buzzing noise when opening. Apparently this is a known problem and Dodge has done nothing about it. After doing some research it seems everyone that has this model has this issue after a few years. It will eventually be a safety issue when the door stops working and we can’t get out in an emergency. Do the right thing and make this a recall. It’s a known issue.

Both sliding door lock actuators buzzed and stopped functioning properly, causing them to need to be replaced. This has been difficult to have the doors close and get the kids in and out. Tpms failing, pressures correct on newer tires light keeps coming on.

The car stalls and shuts off when coming to a stop. When attempting to stop, sometimes it keeps moving forward as if the breaks weren’t working properly. It only happens when I’m slowing down. No codes comes up nor does the check engine light turn on. It had been checked by different mechanis and they cant figure out what is wrong with the car.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the hydraulic pressure was low and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test. Problem started approximately 04/01/24. My research has shown many complaints of this safety hazard for this year/ make/model 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. Should be recalled if not already. Unique.

I put my 18 month old into the van and closed the door with no issue using the button above the front center console. We drove to the elementary school to pick up my daughter and back. The car stayed on the entire time, and the trip there and back took about 20 minutes. When we returned I pressed both buttons for both sliding doors, and only the right side opened. When I went to open the door manually it wouldn’t budge. When I tried to move the lock manually to unlocked it felt as if there was something preventing it from moving all the way to unlocked. I googled the issue and discovered that this is a common problem and that the lock actuator needs to be replaced. A costly and time consuming repair is necessary, but what is worse is the safety issue. It’s not unheard of for cars to be hit, ind tipped over to one side. If that door was the only side that was accessible it could pose a significant safety risk to anyone in the back seat as it is completely jammed and cannot even be manually opened. Upon researching the issue further, it appears earlier models had a recall due to this door issue, but later models are not covered for this recall.

The door lock actuator on the driver's side sliding door seized causing the door to be completely inoperable. The inability to open the rear door is a huge safety concern when transporting children as they can not be easily removed from the vehicle in an emergency.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to slow the vehicle with the brake pedal depressed, the brake pedal required excessive effort to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the brake actuator piston assembly. The vehicle was not repaired. Driver side passenger door is stuck in lock. Can not manuallly unlock from inside or outside. Have tried with key entry and that isn't working either. Had mechanic check and he thinks it could be a mechanical issue and could be very costly to fix because unable to unlock manually and would not be able to remove door to fix. This could possible be a safety issue if ever in an accident. Our daughter has the same year and is experiencing the same issue.

Without warning the car completely shuts off. This is very dangerous because it happened on the freeway (luckily the cars slowed down behind me). It is intermittent and two different mechanics have not been able to detect the problem. Was there a recall on this issue? What can be done to make this vehicle safer to operate. This has been going on for about 2 years.
