It's identical to the Ro3 Dodge Grand Caravan recall. My year, make, and model were recalled for this issue, but Dodge says my vin falls out the production window. However, parts from the exact same vendor (Continental) that suffer from the same weak internal detents were often installed in vehicles outside the official recall parameters. The internal springs in my Wireless Ignition Node (WIN) module have worn down, causing the vehicle to turn off from road bumps or key weight. The van stalls when the key jiggles. Driving down the road and I lose everything, power steering etc. Super dangerous to myself and others on the roadway. It's obviously the issue, when you watch the key fall into accessory mode from a bump or road vibration. This has happened repeatedly and the recall should be expanded to include more VIN numbers experiencing the same issue.

My vehicle caught fire on 10-14 after being parked for 2.5 hours. Three weeks prior I had bumped into a light pole while backing up and my airbag light triggered on. The airbag did not deploy and nothing seemed wrong with the van. Then my battery died so I had to have it jumped. It died 3-4 times before I replaced it with a fresh battery 10-7. I did smell heat, but I attributed it to my oil leak, but I think I was smelling wires, not oil. I went by an autoparts store and they read my old battery temp and it was at 173 and didn’t say it was hot or anything. I don’t think that was safe to put a new battery in when there was obviously a problem. The airbag light consistently dinged off and on but since the airbag didn’t deploy I didn’t think it was any problem. But now I think it was slow draining the battery and then the new one kept charging it causing something to overheat and catch fire.

About a month ago had an issue where the battery was drained completely. Couldn't unlock the van with the FOB, had to use the physical key to unlock the door. Was able to jump the battery and i started right up. Assumed that a over-head light was left on. Confirmed the battery was holding a charge, no issues with alternator. Had the same battery drain a couple of days later. Jumped the van again. Remove any devices from all the power outlets. The battery issue went away. 2 weeks ago noticed that the instrument cluster console appeared to be frozen. I tried to change the settings to view the trip counter. Turns out that none of the steering wheel buttons were working, except for the Cruise Contorl. The steering wheel horn is not working either. However the horn beeps when I use the FOB to lock the van. As it was at night time, noticed that the over-head interior lights are not working either. The lights in the doors are working. The vanity mirror lights are working. Checked the owners manual and online look-ups, found that the M20 fuse is responsible the following items (which are not working) - Instrument Cluster Interior Light, Switch Bank, Steering Column Module, Switch Steering Wheel Pulled the fuse and found that it was blown. With the van not running, replaced the fuse. And it blew immediately. Based on online searches, and some troubleshooting to help try and narrow the issue, it appears that the problem is the clockspring in the steering wheel. Based on information it appears to be known issue. I called the dealer to see what the cost was to diagnose and replace. i'm looking at over 1K for parts and labor to replace the clockspring. My previous mini-van, which was a 2015 dodge caravan with 180K had no issues with the clockspring. This van is 4 years newer and half the miles.

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that a dealer recently serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V396000 (Air Bags, Steering). The contact stated that the dealer replaced the airbag module components located underneath the center console; however, the connected wiring was not replaced. Later, while the unoccupied vehicle was parked in a casino parking lot, the casino staff informed the contact that the vehicle was on fire. The fire department arrived, extinguished the flames, and filed an official report. The incident: the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence, where a secondary inspection indicated that the fire originated underneath the center console, where the recall repair had been performed. Both the manufacturer and dealer were notified of the failure, and the dealer provided documentation of the completed recall services. The failure mileage was 180,000.

- #11767722September 29, 2026ENGINE
The vehicle has experienced repeated serious engine/cooling-system problems. It ran hot/overheated and would lose some power on even very slight inclines; when this occurred, the temperature gauge would rise. It never completely lost power or stalled. The vehicle developed an engine ticking noise that continues. An oil-pressure warning appeared, and the check-engine light repeatedly came on. In approximately March 2026, the engine failed and was replaced with a used engine reportedly having approximately 40,000 miles. Within approximately six months, the replacement engine developed additional oil-pressure/oil-system problems and continues to make a ticking noise. The vehicle has required substantial additional repairs. These problems create a safety concern because overheating, loss of power and possible engine failure could occur while driving and could leave the vehicle unable to safely maintain speed or operate normally in traffic. The problems have been diagnosed and repaired by independent automotive service facilities. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or an insurance representative. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The symptoms began after we purchased the vehicle used on September 2, 2023, at approximately 68,000 miles. It now has approximately 109,000 miles. We have limited driving to very short trips because of these ongoing concerns. I HAVE RECIEPTS FOR the MOST RECENT 2026 REPAIRS , However the system here wont allow my picture/files

While driving, the engine shuts off, leaving the driver with no power steering or power brakes. All power is off. There is no warning or error messages on the dash of any kind. No warning at all. The last time this happened, I was able to coast to the side of the road to a stop. Once stopped, i can put the transmission in Park, restart the vehicle and continue. This time, I drove directly to my service shop to have the computer checked for codes. There were none, like the event never happened. They could not reproduce the problem. This has happened 3 times since August 2025. The wireless ignition module was replaced in 2015 under the recall notice 14V373000. That recall was for exactly this situation. So far, I have been fortunate to avoid hitting another vehicle or other objects. This is not a safe situation, especially knowing it might happen tomorrow.

The headrest safety feature deployed while the car was parked with the key OUT of the ignition. The internal plastic components have failed and broken and the headrest is not repairable. This incident happened on 9/23/2026. No prior warning lights were displayed and no previous symptoms were visible before failure. Currently, part is available for inspection. A dealer was contacted to check on warranty replacement. Vehicle is out of even the "extended" warranty due to the time frame being from date of service instead of being extended from the end of the initial warranty period. Part was not inspected by the dealer. Due to the potential severe impact these devices could enforce, these headrests should be recalled and replaced with new designed headrests and/or replaced with standard non-safety headrests for the life of the vehicles.

I am filing a formal complaint regarding a safety recall remedy denial by an authorized franchised dealership. My 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan has an active, uncompleted safety recall (Recall R03 / Wireless Ignition Node Module). When I attempted to schedule and complete this critical safety repair, the dealership's service department refused to perform the work. The service department stated that they would not honor the safety recall because they were concerned that surrounding 15-year-old plastic components or dashboard trim panels might break during disassembly. Under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act, manufacturers and their authorized dealers are legally mandated to provide a complete, free, and safe remedy for safety defects. A dealership cannot hold a critical safety hazard repair hostage over liability concerns regarding brittle plastic trim. The dealership's refusal to perform this work leaves me driving a vehicle with an unaddressed ignition switch defect that could cause the engine to stall unexpectedly, disabling power steering, brakes, and airbags. I request that the NHTSA investigate this dealership's refusal to honor federal safety recalls and instruct Greenway Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram (9051 E Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32817) to ensure an authorized facility completes safety repair issues immediately in the future, as required by law.
