2021-2022 Toyota Multi-Model Safety Recall Renotification 24R001

The renotification process involves mailing follow-up letters to owners whose vehicles have not yet had the necessary repairs performed. Dealers are also encouraged to assist in completing these repairs as owners contact their dealerships. This activity may lead to an increase in service appointments, and dealers are advised to consider this when managing staffing requirements.

Important Warnings

One specific campaign, 23TA05, affecting certain 2023 Model Year Camry and Camry HV vehicles, carries a critical safety warning: "DO NOT DRIVE - Potential Loss of Vehicle Control". Owners of vehicles identified under this campaign should immediately contact their dealer for instructions and refrain from driving the vehicle until the remedy is performed.

Dealer Inventory Procedures

Toyota has specific procedures for dealers concerning vehicles in their inventory. For pre-owned vehicles, dealers are requested to complete all Safety Recall, Special Service Campaign, or Limited Service Campaign repairs before customer delivery. If a campaign cannot be completed due to parts availability, disclosure to the customer is required.

Dealers must visit the Toyota recall disclosure website to complete a Customer Contact and Vehicle Disclosure Form for affected vehicles. Additionally, the Toyota Certified Used Vehicle (TCUV) policy prohibits the certification, sale, or delivery of any vehicle with an outstanding Safety Recall, Special Service Campaign, or Limited Service Campaign. Toyota also requests that all Toyota Rent-A-Car (TRAC) and Service Loaner vehicles covered by a Safety Recall be removed from service until the defect is remedied.

Toyota encourages dealerships to proactively contact customers by telephone to encourage completion of Safety Recall and Service Campaign repairs. Dealership associates should refer to the specific Safety Recall or Service Campaign Q&A available in TIS (Technical Information System) to answer customer questions.

Regarding parts ordering, dealers should check current stock levels and base subsequent orders on customer appointments, following a "sell one, buy one" approach for replenishment. Technical instructions for repairs are available in TIS, and all non-completed Safety Recalls and Service Campaigns should be addressed during a service appointment.
